DARNIT, ONE LAST TRY!!!
@stkoay. Gloves aren't going to die die liao, for the short term. As noted, they are still getting supernormal pandemic ASPs and huge profits.
Genting isn't likely to fly to RM6 etc in the near term either. Genting is a recovery stock, and we're going to need to see more solid recovery signs and probably some solid results too.
For the short term, anyhow. Maybe medium term as well.
As for the longer term outlook, well, that's a far different story!
Honestly? At this point, there are so many conflicting opinions on when the pandemic will end, that it's really hard to come up with an accurate forecast.
IMHO, though, we should be looking more at vaccine approvals for vaccines that are getting over 90% effectiveness. (Cansino vaccine, as it stands, IMHO is pretty worthless, unless they change it to 2 doses to get it's effectiveness up... who would choose to get a 67.5% effective vaccine when there are >90% choices out there???)
And news about any increases in their productions. Falling case numbers are always great too.
As for ASPs for gloves, eh, too much conflicting news. If anyone here has contact with any glove dealers or people who directly work in the industry, do give us details please. ... I'll admit, at the moment, it DOES seem possible that glove manufacturers will be able to control glove prices, even with eventual growing supply and shrinking demand.
As for Genting, I have honestly no idea how the whole China foreign gambling ban is going to work out. No idea how much of the profit comes from those guys, so no idea whether the ban is going to have any material affect in the long run. ... For Genting Singapore though, enforcement would be the easiest thing in the world... they already have passport check for Singaporean passport, China just has to make an official request to add China passport to that check.

DARNIT!
@invisiblehand
And, wow, I'm already proven wrong twice today. This morning genting reversal my green call into deep red, then reversed back to green and now yellow. Hmm
And TG, that 4m buying block actually broke. What the heck. I just said Rm6 won't be broken today.
I shy now. Don't dare make any more calls for today... haiz...

@JN88... I know plenty of people who beat you... My friends who bought TG before the pandemic, sold TG at RM9, and used those funds to buy Genting at RM3... they made a LOT more than 300%...

@invisiblehand Yeah, but I don't think it will drop below RM6 this week. LWC has pledged almost all his shares, so he's defending TG share price with his life, using SBB from every source that he has. That's a massive 4m buying block at Rm6.00, I doubt that wall is going to break today. ... and with 2021 profits, he can just keep pumping company funds into supporting TG share price until ASPs start to fall...

@sharefisher:
Actually, I'm CURIOUS what the 4th QR will be like. ... Honestly, I don't dare to predict. Cause I have no idea how much business Genting actually got, and how the palm oil sector and Genting SG contributions were etc. Keep in mind that 4th QR was Octorber, November, December, which were all months where genting was open and people could cross borders etc before MCO2.
So, I have honestly NO IDEA what their Q4 results will be. Hoping for them to have further narrowed losses from Q3, but it's possible that losses increased slightly... on the other hand, there's also the possibility that Q4 actually ended breakeven or dare I say BLACK. (ok returning to profit in Q4 might be a bit too optimistic lol).

Good news guys!!!
" Ahmadahmad88 Buy more, will spike again, monkey gone? "
When Genting price started dipping, we got a new 88 joining us!!!
With his (backwards) support, Genting will go up above RM5 after vaccinations begin!!!
didn't see investortrader88's post. can't be bothered to look for it.
...
On a more serious note, market is generally down after Klang Valley MCO extendsion, and honestly, the chance of ANOThER +2 weeks is entirely possible. ... overall though, it's a good thing, as, in the long term, this is going to end the pandemic sooner. Better have short term pain for long term benefit.
There's no denying that Genting is taking a beating... but so are most businesses. And the reason I picked Genting is that 25 billion cash pile which means that MCO can extend for the next 3 years and they won't go bust. (on the other hand, 3 more years of pandemic would wipe the global economy in general, so we'd all end up huge losers regardless)
Forget the hype, the huat, etc... Objectively, Genting is definitely a recovery stock, and so, Genting investors are going to need a bit of holding power and patience cause the real recovery is not going to be overnight, it's going to be gradual over the coming months. But, as I said, 25b cash pile means that Genting has plenty of holding power. (unlike Air Asia which is desperate for a quick recovery or it will just roll over and die)
No need to panic or worry or call for huat... as stated by many others here, if it goes back under RM4, buy kaw kaw. Then just sit back and wait for the recovery... when recovery comes, Genting will fly. That's a no brainer.
... and if recovery doesn't come, then we're all screwed regardless.
Truth be told, I'd actually be SUPER HAPPY if the Lim's decided that they've had enough of this nonsense and decided to just shut down Genting Berhad and dispose of the company... because the NTA is over RM8, so even at disposal discount, everyone could expect to get back more than RM6 cash, easy.
But that's not going to happen. Genting will keep running, will recover when pandemic ends, and will end up stronger than before.
That's why I'm a long term Genting investor. ... which is also why I'm very glad that Genting is not doing Share Buy Backs. ... because, in the short term, sure, if Genting decided to do SBB, they have 25b cash pile, they could EASILY SBB the maximum 10% allowed by bursa, and that would send the stock price all the way up to RM10 (probably). ... but Genting is not going to do that. Because, Genting looks at the long term. Spend billions on SBB for what? Better invest it into business expansion and give some dividends back to shareholders for shareholders to invest.
Also, to be honest, in previous years, I was wondering what the HECK genting was doing sitting on a 25b cash pile, considering FD rates are so low... nothing better to do with the cash than keep cash pile? While other companies are hugely negative cash, and expanding using highly leveraged debt
BUT during this pandemic, suddenly, Genting is looking like geniuses for keeping that cash pile! Other businesses dying from liquidity drying up and cash flow and losses piling up, but Genting Berhad just saying "oh we lost 1b during the lockdown quarter, which was our worst quarter ever? ... eh we got over 25b remaining, that barely tickled"
...
Anyhow, TLDR: Don't panic. We all knew recovery would take some time. So sit back, stay safe, and wait for recovery. Genting has MORE than enough cash reserves to stay healthy until recovery has completed. And when recovery comes, Genting Bhd will fly.
It's very very simple, not rocket science...

ooo... The extension is from Feb 19 to March 4 and affects Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor. There will however be some ease in restrictions under the MCO beginning Feb 19.
Ismail Sabri said dine-in at eateries would be based on capacity after taking into account at least one metre of physical distancing. This means more than two people would be able to sit at one table.
The same applies for states under CMCO.
The 10km travel radius for MCO areas will also be lifted, but the ban on interstate and interdistrict travel remain.
MEH. So still no going to genting for those in Klang Valley (except those high rollers, who can get permission any time they want), so, yeah, now that Genting is open, they can officially go jolly there lol.

@stocksafeplayer. ... actually, at this point, I'm starting to celebrate whenever I see JN88 and shareinvestor88... almost every time they open their mouths, Genting flys up!
Imagine that one day we see 88 keeping quiet, and on that day is profit taking day, red! ... scary?
... one day, 88 will reveal that he was a Genting supporter all along... when he was young, he was cursed by the Raja Bomoh Sedunia, that every stock call he makes will be wrong. So he purposely comes here to curse Genting and praise gloves, but in reality, he knows that whatever he says will make the opposite happen instead.

Our first shipment arrives IN 5 DAYS!!! 21st February!!!
Yeah, looks like our Genting timeline will be:
21st Feb: Vaccines arrive, And vaccinations given to the vaccinators (very sensible, first people vaccinated are the ones administering the vaccines)
26th Feb. Front liners vaccinations begin.
Handbook confirms what many thought would happen: Those who are vaccinated will get Vaccination Cards proving they've been vaccinated.
So, those who were thinking of not getting the vaccine right away? Probably going to change their minds. ... It's pretty certain that those who have their vaccine cards are going to have a lot more priveleges than those who don't.

@stocksafeplayer .... vanbasten is just angry because I pointed out that C89 isn't a good warrant, and he bought heavy into it. He can't face the fact that C91 is superior to C89, and now he is launching on personal attacks.
I don't know why... I doubt that he actually bought many units of C89. ... or maybe he did, I don't know how much money he has....though:... He keeps talking about that RM1800. Maybe RM1800 is a lot of money for him?
Also. @vanbasten. RM1800 for giving tuition? ... ZZZ, people don't do face to face tuition during covid pandemic, do they?

IMHO? ... nope. GenM might open soon, but, yeah, interstate travel and such will be a bigger limitting factor. ... no point if GenM is open but only Pahang people can visit.
Now... IMHO, one other big question about vaccinations is related to a letter I posted to The Star. I basically suggested that very very rich people would be allowed to pay very high premium price for vaccine (like 9x normal price), and this money would be used by Government to buy 3 doses of vaccine, at triple price, with the condition that we are paying 3x the normal price to cut queue and get vaccine supply ASAP. The rich person would get 1 dose, and 2 doses go to our national vaccine stockpile. Thus, win-win for everyone involved (except for people in poor nations). Rich people get to jump ahead in queue, and all the other rakyat would also get more vaccine and faster too.
How does that idea relate to Genting? ... well, my theory is, just like the world economy, 99% of the wealth is owned by the top 1%. In other words, even if Genting only gets back 25% of it's normal visitors, it doesn't matter much as long as all the high rollers are back! In other words, the super rich... Genting doesn't need "80% of Malaysian citizens" to be vaccinated in order to return to big profits... as long as the richest 1% are vaccinated, you will see Genting profits skyrocket.
Actually, truth be told, you don't need the plan I outlined above. ... due to Malaysia Boleh, the super rich and VIPs would be cutting queue ANYHOW.... that's just how it works. ... at least with my idea, they would not be taking away vaccine quota from the high priority groups, but instead would be in fact increasing the vaccine supply for all Malaysians. ... haiz, there's no way this idea would actually ever be implemented, but, well, I sent in the letter with unrealistic hope regardless...
Anyhow...
Either way... yeah, Genting will most likely not have to wait until February 2022 in order to make big bucks, because the rich and powerful will be cutting queue and getting early vaccinations. (or maybe they will just buy vaccine thru private channels). And once most of the high rollers are back in Genting, that's going to bring in a ton of money. So.... I would expect Genting's profits to recover much sooner than the vaccination timeline would indicate.
Mind you, of course, having the !% high rollers + full house with middle income group > 1% high rollers + mostly empty. ... And I have no idea how much revenue is actually generated by the high rollers vs the middle income group, the above is just my guess and estimate about human nature. I could be wrong about that, but my belief is that the wealthiest 1% gamblers would be spending a more than the other 99% put together.

@stocksafeplayer. hmm, I don't own any DBS shares, but i use DBS bank singapore for my SG banking. So, took a look:
"Like most banks, DBS had to make additional allowances for potential bad loans.
To be sure, its profit before allowances would have been a record high, up 2% year on year to S$8.4 billion.
However, full-year allowances ballooned to around S$3.1 billion, sharply higher than the S$703 million recorded a year ago."
So... those allowances are just "prudence".... no one has any idea how much bad debts will actually materialize. To be fair though, I agree that bad debts allowance has to increase, I see a LOT of businesses closing down and people losing their incomes. The question here is whether $3.1b compared to $0.7b is too high, too low, or just right. Hmm. ... honestly this part I have no idea, I just know bad debts should be higher than pre-covid, but HOW MUCH higher is no idea.
... I'm impressed that profit before allowances actually GREW 2% during covid. Then I realized it was probably due to "Other non-interest income saw a 32% year on year surge to S$2.46 billion, driven by gains in investment securities of S$963 million.." .... HUH. I'm guessing DBS must have been heavy into gloves or Amazon or something, considering that they made almost a billion from investment securities. in 2020. Wonder if it is paper gains or realized gains?
...
All in all though... DBS looks like they are doing pretty well. Conversely, I'd be worried that our Malaysian banks are NOT setting aside ENOUGH allowances for bad debts.

@choysun lol, I'd be a terrible guru!
Last month, when MCO + Emergency declared, I told everyone including i3, and my friends and family, to buy Genting because I felt that it was unlikelly to go below RM4 again. it soon climbed back up above RM4... and then 2 weeks later, it confounded me and indeed went back below RM4. Below RM3.90 in fact. ROFL. SHY!!!
thank goodness it's gone back up now, otherwise I really got no face.
Well, I'm not the only one who has been saying "if it dips below RM4 again, buy in kaw kaw". So i can't claim to be giving any clever or original advice there...
Friend of a friend just asked "so, now what is a good entry price for Genting", and... yeah, again, I fail as a guru, because my answer is "errr, I dunno".
(facepalm)
My lousy guru ability is limitted to saying "buy genting mother if it dips below RM4, and buy Genting c91 if it goes 11c or below"... Trouble is, that's not looking likely at the moment, is it? (facepalm)

RSS is only for certain shares (usually the top 100 KLCI i think). And you can't even get RSS unless you have contacts, because you won't be able to secure loan stock.
As for time value, fortunatly C91 and C94 are in the money, with pretty low premiums, so the time value decay isn't that bad... if it goes sideways all the way to expiry, , taking RM4.45 mother share (assumption)
For C91, you'd get back 12.4c per warrant. So yeah, almost 25% loss, if you buy in at 16c right now.
For C94, you'd get back 43c. So 4.5% loss.
For C89, you'd get back nothing, so total loss. -100%.
...
I originally made a spreadsheet by going to:
https://www.malaysiawarrants.com.my/tools/warrantsearch
and copy pasting onto a spreadsheet lol.
As I said, very very inefficient warrants market with the prices completely out of whack. C89 and C91 have the exact same expiry date. But c89 is 4.88 strike and 9:1 ratio, while C91 was probably written specifically to be more attractive than c89, with 3.58 strike and 7x ratio. ... if this were the USA, I would be shorting the heck out of c89 and going long on c91, and making a ton of money on the arbitrage, but, eh, too bad, too bad...

I had ONE module on Options during my uni days in LSE, and I failed the it, and barely passed on the re-sit. So, I pretty much sucked. And that was over 20 years ago. ... I can't remember the Black Scholes formula and even if it was in a textbook in front of me, I don't remember how to do the calculus for it!
So... yeah... was trying to talk big and show off a bit, but, in actual fact, I'm actually lacking in ability there...
Apologies. @vanbasten, @invisiblehand. and anyone else reading my above comments. ... not that I lied about anything, I'm pretty confident in all my above analysis, but, well, yeah, fact is that I was partially forced to use a rough approximation because I can't remember how to do the proper by the book method...

I sometimes pick up warrants that are totally mispriced and are trading at a DISCOUNT instead of a premium. Usually make some pocket money when they readjust to market pricing. (not counting those goreng shares where the mother is pushed 200% by operators and the warrant never catches up, until the goreng ends and the mother crashes back down.)

@invisiblehand, yeah exactly. ... I'm too lazy to do proper Black Scholes model simulation though so I just do rough approximations. Also, our malaysian warrants do not follow BS in the first place, a lot of the warrants are grossly underpriced and overpriced. ... which means if you are a little hard working, you can use BS modeling or estimation and pick out which warrants are the best bargains.

@vanbasten, I'm not interested in buying those so I can't be bothered to do the data entry. Do it yourself.
But I can tell you my entry price for C94 was 8.5c, when Genting mother was around RM3.10... look at the price now.
WELL FINE... here's one freebie. As for c89, I can tell you that if Genting is RM5 on 30th June 2021, C89 will be 0.02. (it's currently 5c)
Meanwhile , 30/6/2021, Genting RM5, would mean c91 would be 21c (I bought c91 at 12c average cost, and it is currently 15.5c)

OK, this isn't true at all. At these hyper high ASPs, glove margins are enormous.
The question is how long these ASPs will continue,
And if you really truly believe that these super high glove ASPs are going to continue for several years, then the best investment isn't Genting or TG, what you should do is get some buddies together and start a rubber glove factory. (which is what tons of people are doing, evidently).

Same thing happens when you buy CFD and go SHORT. (for some reasons CFD is treated like buying the share itself and you get dividends when you buy long)
... Things like these are why I didn't want to recommend CFD to that guy who was asking that day... there is some homework and stuff that it's better to learn and know about, before simply buying advanced financial instruments!

I say 4.35 today... people who bought in at .3.88 less than 2 weeks ago, sure take some profit, it's already 10% up...
Pretty happy if it maintains around this level or 4.50 or so, until vaccines arrive, then I would expect another +50c spike up to RM5.
Following that the next spike would be when those large vaccine shipments come in, over 10 million doses before April IIRC? ... then another +50c, to RM5.50.
By then, more vaccines will have been approved and purchased, and worldwide covid numbers would have dropped, hopefully.
With luck, in several months time, we will have vaccine approval for minors, and we can schedule for kids to be vaccinated in 2021 after all. (not just for Genting, but for our entire education system to function properly!) ... when that happens, it's time for the theme park to pull in some serious visitors, and time for Genting to make some juicy profits! ... well, this part is just optimism, dunno when kids will be receiving their vaccines. but when it does happen, RM7 and above?

As for Q1 2021, with this MCO2 in affect? If they can keep the net loss for Q1 2021 below RM500m, I'd be pretty happy, actually.
...
The point is, as so many others have pointed out, Genting is sitting on a ridiculously huge Cash Balance. ... Genting won't go PN14 unless they make losses of 2b per quarter and pandemic lasts another couple of years.
So, they are going to survive the pandemic, without having to sell off assets and other stuff that would mess up their long term plans.
So, how about recovery post pandemic? ... Well, we have positve news like their theme park, (again, IMHO this is POST pandemic thing... kids will need to be vaccinated), their successful investment into medicare (I'm actually surprised this one turned out to be profit making, I thought it was some failed investment), Rising palm oil prices... but the main thing, as always, will be gaming revenue. And this one, I am unsure of what will happen post pandemic. ... personally though, I think people will be back to genting gambling, business as usual.

@752_michael_chan, actually, the fact that genting singapore came out of 2020 IN THE BLACK, is already beating our expectations. Well it beat my expectations anyhow. I was actually wondering how much they managed to narrow their losses.
"Revenue for the year ended Dec 31, 2020 slid 57 per cent to S$1.1 billion, while gross profit fell 77 per cent to S$231.9 million."
That's pretty darn impressive considering how badly hit they were by covid and lockdowns!
Heck, those airline and hotel companies would sell their grandmother's to breakeven for 2020... if you can find an airline or hotel that ended 2020 with "small losses" it's already considered exceptional performance.
...
No one was expecting GenS to be making big profits in 2020. ... you must be crazy if you were. ... I was just hoping that their losses wouldn't be too catastrophic to the point that it jeopardized their recovery once the pandemic is over!
(which is the case for the airline companies.... cancelling contracts, laying off and rehiring staff, cancelling flight paths, those all have long term costs and will affect them post pandemic as they try to re-implement their previous routes)
...
Anyhow, the TLDR is.... based on their decent numbers in 2020, GenS should be able to survive any remaining duration of covid just fine, probably making a little bit of a profit even. And post covid, they are going to bounce back stronger than ever.
...
To be fair, I'll compared with Genting Hong Kong, which is bleeding out its arse, it's being forced to sell off it's profitable businesses and promising assets, and even post pandemic, it's uncertain if it will be able to make profits. (fortunatly, GHK is LKT's problem, not so much Genting bhd's problem)

@dragonboy Genting is disconnected from Index. In fact, a lot of stocks are disconnected from index now. Due to Glove stocks being such heavy weightage in our Index now. ... to be fair, the reverse also applied, when all the blue chips were falling like rocks, and it was glove stocks that were propping up the index.
Anyhow, don't rely on KLCI too much. You could get an imaginary scenario where there is some magical announcement like "Israel's cure works perfectly, covid is no longer a threat, if you get covid just take this pill and it will be cured in a few days", and life basically goes back to normal in 1-2 weeks... world markets all fly high and genting goes above Rm5... and our KLCI drops to 1400 because all the glove stocks drop back to pre-pandemic levels.
So, yeah. Just ignore the our index for the time being. Especially if you are holding either glove or recovery stocks, the two are going to move in pretty much the opposite directions.

errr... well, it's actually TRUE that Genting has no biz during MCO2...
But market is forward looking. It's not like MCO2 is going to last for years and years... if you wait until pandemic is fully over before buying into Genting, you will be VERY late to the party...
Let's leave out gloves and genting, and talk about something else with track record... those who bought into O&G companies. ... some geniuses bought into oil companies when oil was at historic lows, and sold when oil was over USD100 a barrel. ... those guys made A LOT of money. ... meanwhile, some jokers bought O&G when oil was USD100 a barrel, and panic sold when oll dropped to super low price. ... those guys lost a lot of money.
Again, draw your own conclusions about gloves and Genting here... btw, that above example is why I personally don't like to do momentum trading...
