dude, look at your post history. You were outright predicting a crash and telling people to sell and buy back when it went below 3.50, you insisted that dipping below RM3.90 was not low enough to risk buying back in.
I didn't listen to you and bought in at below RM3.90, and so did destinyL, but a lot of people didn't, and they missed the boat.

And when it rebounded from 3.90 to 4.50, you were constantly calling a crash back below 3.50 AGAIN.

It's been deleted cause too far back, but when we were communicating thru PM, you were telling me "I know a crash incoming when I see it, and Genting is gonna crash and burn on Monday" or something along those lines.

... I'll give you the benefit of doubt and call it unintentional, but, yeah, other than the 88 family and themeg, you are the biggest prophet of gloom and doom here.

But at the end of the day, those comments are just words, hurt people's feelings, but feelings are not convertible to money.

HOWEVER...

Back when Genting was around RM4.40 or something like that (i can't remember exact price), you were telling everyone here to sell, cause it was going to drop, a correction was coming, etc etc.

Now, I can tell you... those who listened to you and sold at that price, will be cursing you now. That's not hurt feelings, you might have actually caused monetary loss to some people.

Please be more careful with your comments and advice in future. I didn't bring it up until now, but I respect @stocksafeplayer and I decided to give him a bit of vindication like invisiblehand.

What a strange assumption you made there. I always assume that markets are full of inefficencies and you can see things weirdly mispriced every now and then. ... like Genting at RM3. Simply hilarious.

oh, the SGD1.72 part... that one is tricky for me.. I personally do not think that flat share price has much meaning due to things like share consolidation or dilution... but I was proven wrong when Public Bank surged so strongly. I thought it would revert back to it's pre-bonus issue valuation, but I was proven wrong, and very paiseh cause I announced to my friends that I expected it to revert back. So now I tend to avoid the similiar topics.
Personally though, my argument is, if Genting did a 10x stock split or 9 for 1 bonus issue, and now Genting price is RM0.51 per share, does it mean that Genting is now cheaper? That would be SGD0.17 per share.
... but it worked for Public Bank, so... yeah.

Not very misleading... what ATK said does have some fair points:

1. Better use NTA -> and Genting Berhad's NTA is RM8.50. Actually, it's probably over RM9 now with GenS and GenM marked to market.

2. It is true that Genting Berhad pre-covid was RM5.50 or so. So, yes, indeed, a return to pre-covid levels would be around there... so, our saying "pre-covid levels" was also misleading.

We should add in:

a) Pre- theme park lawsuit Genting was much higher before that lawsuit, and with good reason... the amount lost if the theme park was written off would be a lot larger than the losses during this covid pandemic so far!

b) Pre- Mashpee Wampanoag. Another issue that has been resolved. if those promisory notes had been written off, those would also have been a large loss.

We're not just going pre-covid, we are returning to pre- those 2 issues.

And we are going to also hopefully add on RWLV and the alzheimer's drug and other healthcare investments paying off.

... to be fair, if covid was resolved but we still had the themepark and tribal indian issues, those 2 would indeed be serious downsides.

... heck, back at RM3, the chance of margin calls and force selling was a real possibility. Dropping out of KLCI was looking like a certainty.


... All in all, this was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for Genting buyers to get in at this price, and then catch the rebound. ... It wasn't JUST one or two major issues, but a whole slew of serious big negatives... and suddenly, pretty much ALL of them just cleared up and some even reversed into positives.
I don't think I've ever seen a stock bogged down with so many different sources of seriously bad news, just reverse all of them, within such a short span of time.

considering how much genting has gone up recently, a red day was pretty much inevitable lol... some profit taking and consolidation.

Feh. you guys don't be too demanding lah... Genting is not a goreng stock like metronic etc ok, it's a fundamental stock, recovery stock! we don't suddenly spike up and then spike down so fast (unless got big news lah), this is slowly slowly every week add a few percent. Hopefully, by April, RM5.50, by June over RM6... STEADY! ;)

but, yeah, as I said, recommended buy for those who have holding power. .... I can see that those who bought on contra or margin would be taking profits.
Eventually though, value investors are going to be buying in, and holding for long term, and that's where you will see the sustained climb back up to it's pre-pandemic values.
For the short term though, plenty of punters out to make a quick buck, and that's going to be giving some volatility.

to be honest, I'm not a fan of GHK... which is why I'm glad that there is no financial connection between Genting and Genting Hong Kong. They may share the same name and LKT connection, but without a shareholding tie, there's very low risk of bailout.
It's a far different story from catskills where they are the largest shareholder, and then pump money into their investment.

I personally would NOT buy GHK shares right now...

But I would definitely buy Genting Berhad shares for long term holding at this price... hehe.
