Mother started the slight rebound this morning. Hopefully GenM will follow, and head for a positive close today.

Competition is always a worry but then what a beautiful morning today. Up. Hopefully it's not downtrend after lunch.

If I'm not wrong, AA has quite alot of GE engines as well. Not sure how is the percentage mix between RR and GE. No data in hand atm.

Why AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes wants to grow the Malaysian budget airline organically

Cambodia's proximity with China, and the soon to be opened (maybe end of this year or next) casino resort in Vladivostok (next to Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces in the far north east), will be a huge threat.
And with probably three more new casino resorts (won't be so soon, need to go through bidding, planning and construction first) in Japan will add more pressure to earnings moving forward.

Need to see how many are budget and how many are full-service. And how many planes are affected among the budget segment before we can see the clearer picture. But then, bad sentiment for Boeing -- people are afraid to fly any Boeing -- is always good for AirAsia.

Different segment but then, sentiment counts lol.

More issues for Boeing, this time across our southern border.

Betkaukau, not only airasia.com. Tony mentioned many times before actually that digital business, under Redbeat might be listed in NYSE.
AA also has the possibility to spin off its logistics arm, RedCargo. Even BigPay, if it grows as large as Square, PayPal or its likes, might be spun off as well.
Pretty decent potential. And tech stocks carry even higher valuations than what analysts see its mother share.

I mean foreign institutions kept selling and switch to bond. That's why keep falling. Genting's foreign holding percentage is very high according to previous reports.

The problem is the fear of more on the slowdown in China. China people might spend less. If that happens, then almost every country in ASEAN, or even beyond might feel the pain (or already feeling).
But then the latest PMI data just released shows that things are pretty much good. US are starting to recover, but Bursa still red.

And I'm really surprised that AA went for Macau as it's gateway for China. Setting up ground team there too. It's very much part of the fastest booming Peal River Delta Metropolitan Area (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, HK, Macau etc) in China.
Way better than the previous choice, Zhenzhou in Henan. Shows you something bad can be a hidden gem if you look it from another perspective.
Could go either way though, but I'm all in for Macau. Brilliant choice, great government support, and it's highly autonomous.

Analysts gave zero value to AA's digital businesses and logistics. Most valuations are are based solely on AA's airline business. I've said before that it takes time to for the value to reflect. I still stand by that.
But then, the movements of late have shown that AA is accelerating the logistics side of business so that it can pump in more contributions in. High chances that it will be positive from the logistics side. Cost-wise, not really that sure yet for me.

AirAsia is smart to partner with a struggling GDEX. Can tekan them kao2 for better terms.

Btw, just look at GDEX's PE ratio lol. Luckily I jual at its height and it has been all the way down since the Alibaba announcement.

I agree that it's not wise to chase. Long way to the next Q. I'll only collect if there's a real significant drop. But little bit not all. Bit by bit. Now is the best time to have spare cash in hand.

GST again? Not likely. The one we should be afraid of the most -- inheritance tax and capital gain tax -- are the ones we should be afraid of the most. But PH already said no.

Not an expert, or claiming to be one, but if there are lots of uncertainties, internally and externally, tread carefully. There's no such thing as sure thing in investing.
Evaluate your risk appetite, read as much as possible, know your stuff, and don't listen blindly. It's your money. Act responsibly. Protect what's yours.
At the end of the day, we are all here to learn from each other. Sorry if I've offended anyone but just be careful especially at times like this.

Lots of institutions buy according to index. So mostly bluechips. Just look at Vanguard ETFs. They hold so much local banks and Genting. Was going through quite a few Vanguard ETFs and what they are holding a few days back. You'll be surprised how much they hold.
Add in all the mutual funds, this fund that fund ... if most of them start dumping mampus we all kiong kan small fish small fry retail investors.
2019-03-28 16:03 | Report Abuse
I'm really not sure. Actually nobody is. There are so many factors in play, and so many things to consider. But everything doesn't look good at the moment lah, that's what we can see in Bursa now.
Safe blue chips, with strong recent earnings all are tanking. Mostly because of the flight towards bonds.
2019-03-28 15:19 | Report Abuse
I'm not an expert lah but from what I understand, lots of bluechips are all down because foreign institutions (funds etc) have been dumping equities en masse and buying bonds. All takut because of the data that is coming out from the US.

Didn't manage to grab during the Indonesia crash. Not enough money and stuck with some stupid goreng stocks back then. I should have sold at its height, around 4.7 (I believe) but didn't because I wanted to go long. Really regret it.

Grab, Uber, Ninja Van and the smaller players all throw price. At cost or below cost. Most major last mile are bleeding so badly. I bought GDEX and sold at its height one or two years ago. Luckily I escaped. No regret and no looking back as the P/E and valuation for logistics are way ahead of fundamentals thanks to the Alibaba announcement by Najib.
2019-03-27 22:09 | Report Abuse
Last mile memang cannot do, it's suicide. But I think he said AA gonna acquire a new company to do last mile. Might lah.
Another point. Not sure since he didn't give a confirmation but if AA were to make BigPay the only option to pay across all platforms, that will be crazy. The more millions, billions of transactions you process, earn a few sen per transaction also gonna make you tons of cash.

Gonna add more. But I doubt it will dip more after the release of the video. I believe it will start to slowly creep up after the global slowdown fears go away next week.
The video cleared all my doubts lol. He should have shared those info earlier. Smart boss.
