Sold all my CIMB one and a half years ago for a very small profit. Bought at just over RM5 a share in early 2020 and didn't average down. Switched to Maybank and RHB Bank to enjoy better dividend yields.

I thought of buying back what I had sold earlier once it dipped below RM8.60 but eventually decided to jump in when it fell below RM8.90 quite a few days ago. Looks like it is on uptrend again.

Maybank still received over RM1.9 billion in dividends for financial year ending 31 Dec 2022 after excluding its cash entitlement which was reinvested into securities. At RM8.75 a share, this amount could buy 217 million Maybank shares or 1.8% of its paid up capital. Considering that over 98.5% of Maybank shares are in the hands of those holding over 100,000 shares who are mosty long term investors and are unwilling to part with their shares. Should ASB use the dividend received to buy Maybank shares, there could be a sharp rebound. It is anybody's guess how high Maybank could go.

Local bank sentiment had already been affected when the crisis struck about one and a half months ago. Several weeks prior to the crisis, Maybank was trading at around RM8.75 and RHB Bank at RM5.75. Maybank dipped to RM8.26 and RHB Bank to RM5.45 during the crisis. Now most US banks have recovered, though not fully from the losses. Maybank has fully recovered (more than fully recovered if we include the 30 sen final dividend). RHB Bank still has 20 sen to go.

Maybank's paid up capital is already over RM12 billion consisting of over 12 billion shares. Perhaps taking note of this fact, the management has decided to do away with the DRP this time. lol

With over 3.8 billion Maybank shares, ASB's total dividend receipts from Maybank alone should amount to over RM2.2 billion per year. This should constitute around 20% of ASB's yearly income. Not a small amount.

With earnings per share at around 65 sen and dividend at 40 sen for the past two years, RHB Bank shoud be trading at RM6.50. Anything less is illogical.

The US stock markets won't react so positively to an impending default. The possibility of a default is actually very small.

Friday's huge spike in Dow, S&P500 and Nasdaq suggests that a settlement may have been reached.

Investors who had bought RHB Bank at over RM6 a share about a year ago and did not average down still lose money even if the total dividends received/pending (65 sen a share in total) are included. Looks like RM6 is still elusive. Hopefully this is achievable by the month's end.

Companies with high debts would be badly hit.

DBS is a very well managed bank. I remember when it was still listed on KLSE 40 years ago, its share price was only about RM11 a share.

Keck Seng keeps most of its RM1 billion cash in US and Singapore Dollars. Any drop in the Ringgit against the US and Sing Dollas would also benefit the company.

For a cash rich company like Keck Seng, interest rate rises should benefit it tremendously. With a cash pile of RM1 billion, each percentage rise in interest rate should bring in an additinal pretax profit of RM10 million to the company. However, the perfomance of Keck Seng shares doesn't seem to indicate that it has benefitted anything at all from the rate rises.

Just like you claimed repeatedly over a month ago that Maybank would become Signature Bank, Public Bank would become First Republic Bank and CIMB Bank would become Credit Suisse, nobody believes it.

Just look at the total buy and sell order quantities, we can guess that retail participation is negligible. The big boys are buying and selling among themselves.

Over the past three to four years, I had only recommended bank stocks to those who sought advice on investments in the local stock market. I am also waiting for opportunities to reduce my holdings in some other not so prospective counters and switch to Maybank and RHB Bank.

Go to the i3investor forum for Genting, some jokers have recommended to sell bank stocks and buy Genting.

Trying to cross the RM9 hurdle. Shouldn't have any problem overcoming this resistance.

Had recommended a relative to buy Maybank about two years ago and she invested over RM60,000 at just under RM8.00 a share. Now including the dividends she received her capital gain is over 22% in two years. Had she kept her money in the bank, she would have earned just 7% in these two years.

Every Maybank shareholder and every person who post comments on this forum know. Many of those who don't own Maybank shares may not know. Most of those who don't own any shares don't know.

If more and more people know the true value of Maybank, its share price would go up. Hurrah!

You claimed to trade Genting shares in the millions. I didn't say it was 9.9 million shares but asked if it was 9.9 million. Anything wrong with such kind of suggestion? Did you pass your primary school mathematics? Let me educate you here, millions can be anything from 1,000,001 to 9,999,999.

Even with a 0.25% hike in OPR, the Ringgit still lost ground against the US Dollar, Euro and British Pound and gained a little against the Australian and Sing Dollars. Our currency is too weak.

@stkoay, I was trying to be conservative. One should not write off the possibility of a recession in the later part of the year. I am happy if earnings per share could improve to 72 to 75 sen a share this year.

MRCB should be trading at above 50 sen a share but investors are worried it may fall below 30 sen a share. All because EPF is not supporting it.

Some of my Keck Seng shares were bought about 30 years ago. Can't wait for another 30 yeas unless old fox could tell me his secrets for longevity.

RM8 a share would be the right price. Still 50% discount to its nta if all assets are revalued.

The Dow, Nasdaq and S&P 500 indices have all recovered fully from the March lows after the failure of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank.

Don't worry about the headwinds. Boleh Tepat Boleh would just dream about M1.50 and the price would go up to his dreamt price.

RHB Bank's earnings this year should improve slightly, reflecting a projected 4% economic growth and an absence of prosperity tax. Hopefully after the release of its first quarterly results, its share price would rise to above RM6.

Without prosperity tax and a projected 4% growth in Malaysia's economy this year, Maybank's full year earnings should improve to at least 70 sen a share.

@DayDreamers, after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank almost two months ago and First Republic Bank's share price nose dived from over $110 a share to about $13 a share in less than two weeks, its collapse is more or less anticipated. Nothing surprising. Certainly no banks in Malaysia, notably Maybank would collapse.

Government should award it more contracts to benefit EPF's over 13 million members.

Not easy to make money from DRP. Even if you own 100,000 shares, you are still unable to make more than 1k.
