Yesterday's rise wasn't due to quarter end window dressing after all, otherwise Genting's share price would have fallen back to RM4.12 again this morning. So no forced selling tomorrow.

CIMB Bank went up by 21.5% in the third quarter. Time for consolidation this quarter rather than going up non stop.

Ex dividend is on 2 Oct. If you buy the counter any day before the ex div date you are entitled to the 0.7 sen a share dividend.

It was only RM8 three years ago. At RM10.66, it has already gained 33.25%. If we include the dividends, then it has already gained around 55% during these three years. A very good return indeed.

DY is still a very high 6.4%, more than twice local banks' 12 month fixed deposit rates. PE is still lower than 10.

CIMB Bank's almost non stop rise since touching a low of RM4.80 about 15 months ago would stop one day. Including dividends, it has already gained more than 85%. It can't continue to go up forever.

Has been paying 4 sen a share dividend for the past three years. Should be able to repeat its dividend payment this year. At 67 sen a share, its dividend yield works out to almost 6%, more than twice banks' 12 month fixed deposit rate.

RHB investment bank has buy calls on many property counters. Unfortunately they didn't cover Land & General.

Of the 30 KLCI component counters, bank counters trade at the lowest PEs. If bank counters could trade at PEs of above 15, then the recent bank rally still has some way to go.

From a low of 5.48 just one and a half months ago to RM6.25 today on top of a15 sen a share interim dividend, I have no complaint about its recent performance. Still a long way to go to match other banks.

CIMB Bank has probably completed its full course but Maybank is likely 75% through.

Maybe in Nusantara supervising the construction of his 6 and 7 star hotels there.

Not record high yet, highest in around 30 months lah. Ringgit rose to less than RM3 to a US$ over 30 years ago. That was the record high.

Better to invest in something that you are familiar with rather than something that you know little or completely don't know.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit has continued to strengthen against the US dollar, hitting a 28-month high versus the greenback after the United States Federal Reserve (Fed) kept to its words and delivered a 50-basis points interest rate cut last night, an analyst said.

At 6 pm, the local note surged to 4.2025/2105 versus the greenback from Wednesday's close of 4.2410/2460, retaining its position as one of the top performing currencies in the Asian region.

All the foreign exchange gains over the past two over years have been wiped out if the company has not pared down its foreign exchange holdings. I doubt it has.

I think the probability for Genting to consolidate at around this level for a short while before moving up is much higher than its probability of dropping to RM4.

Excluding sharp rebounds after sharp falls in 2020, RHB Bank's performance over the last 5 weeks is the best in many, many years. Still it pales in comparison with CIMB Bank's performance. Maybank, AmBank and Public Bank have all performed better also.

Now trading at less than half its nta of RM8.94 a share. How much further can it fall?

At RM5.70 a share recently, its yield was 7%. Now at RM6.20, its yield has dropped to 6.45%. It has to increase its dividend payout to maintain a yield of 7%. Well, it has the capacity to do so.

For the index to break all time high, Maybank needs to go up to at least RM13 and Public Bank to around RM6.

CIMB Bank the rabbit has gone further ahead. It is now RM2.20 higher than RHB Bank.

All the IBs have buy calls on Genting with the latest coming from CIMB Investment Bank with a target price of RM6.65 a share, more than 50% higher than today's closing price but Genting seems to be going the opposite way.

Unable to hold on to its recent gains. What a pity!

The steeper Fed cuts the rate, the more worried investors become. Should the Fed cut interest rate by more than 0.5%, investors may think that the US economy is in a much worse state that generally believed and vote with their feet.

RHB Bank's adjusted price is RM6.15. If it could rise to last Friday's closing price of RM6. 30 tomorrow, I am sure its share price would gain further ground.

With this announcement, Bursa Malaysia would be closed on 17 Sept 2024 and would resume trading on Wednesday 18 Sept 2024.

RHB Bank has declared an interim dividend of 15 sen a share, not 17 sen a share. Hopefully it would declare 17 sen a share next financial year.

Tan Tua Pao is very excited with every positive development happening in Nusantara. He must be very, very heavily involved in TSH.

@JJPTR, they kicked out only 8 non performing Dow component counters over the past 10 years. Even if those counters were reinstated, they won't cause Dow to drop by 50%. This is possible if we exclude gains achieved by Amazon, Apple and Microsoft over the past 10 years. It is a fact that many US stocks, especially Nasdaq counters have gone crazy.

Almost all the IBs have buy calls on this counter with tps of above 30 sen a share but it just refuses to move up.

10 years ago, KLCI was slightly above 1,800 points, S&P was around 2,000 points. Today, S&P has gone up to over 5,500 points but our KLCI is still struggling at 1625 points. Nasdaq has performed much better. Falls in the US won't have any lasting effect on our market.

Those who had the gut to buy at RM3.30/31 yesterday are now laughing.

Wow! Calvin the Tua Pao has toned down a lot already. A few weeks ago, you wrote that given time, Nusantara would overtake Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shenzhen etc. You are being very humble today but Putrajaya is only a very small town with a population of less than 150,000. You can't build 6 or 7 star hotels there.

I don't expect its eps to exceed 6 sen a share this year. How much dividend can you expect? If you want dividend yields exceeding 5 or even 6%, perhaps can consider buying bank counters.
