Warren Buffett - 'Rising Stock Market Valuations'

"Throughout the career I have in investing, there has always been hundreds of cases and thousands of cases of things that are ridiculously priced, phony stock promotions and the gullible being led into believing in things that just cannot come true. That has always gone on and will always go on and it doesn't make any difference to us.

We are not here to predict markets and we are not trying to predict the markets; we are trying to find wonderful businesses and the fact of the matter that a part of the market is screw-y, that is unimportant to us.

We try a few times shorting some of those things, in our innocence of youth and it is very tough to make money, shorting even the obvious fraud. And there are some obvious fraud. It is not so tough to find these obvious fraud. It is not tough to be right over 10 years but it is very tough to make money shorting them, though we did try this a few times.

We don't look at the indices from stocks in general, or P/E, or P/Sales ratios, and what other things you are doing. We really just focus on businesses. We don't care if there is a stock market.

If we want to own Coca Cola, the 8% we in Coca Cola and the 11% in Gillette, if there said they are going to de-list the stocks and will only open again in 20 years, it will be fine with us. If it goes down on the news, we will buy more of it. We care about what the business does."
