opensys revenue and earnings almost identical 2017 and 2018, are you sure it is even growing? or already hit terminal growth stage...

LETS ANALYSE OPENSYS ;

OpenSys has four business revenue models, namely
(i) outright sales, NEUTRAL GROWTH PROSPECT
(ii) software services, GOOD PROSPECT STILL GROWING
(iii) outsourcing services CHEQUE PROCESSING FALLING VOLUME
(iv) maintenance services. GOOD PROSPECT DUE TO HUGE CRM MACHINE

THE CHALLENGES POSE;

1. CHEQUE PROCESSING OUTSOURCING BUSINESS FALLING INCOME DUE TO LESS VOLUME OF CHEQUE USE LOH....!!

2. OUTRIGHT SALES OF CRM MACHINE LOWER GROWTH RATE AS THE VOLUME GROWTH TAPER DOWN DUE TO MATURITY OF THE MARKET AND COMPETITOR LIKE NCR AND HITACHI START COMING OUT WITH THEIR OWN CRM MACHINE. THIS MEAN MKT INTENSIFY LOH....!!
BUT OKI UP THEIR ACT....THEIR MACHINE CAN EVEN PROCESS RM 1 NOTES LOH......!!

3. SOFTWARE AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES SHOULD BE THEIR CORE BASE BUSINESS BUT THERE MAKE UP FOR DECLINING SALES OF CHEQUE PROCESSING AND LOWER RATE OF CRM SALES ??
RAIDER SEE THE ANS IS YES.....BUT MKT SAY UNCERTAIN....THATS WHY PE LESS THAN 10X LOH....!

But overall...Raider see it is a worthwhile investment in opensys the core software and maintenance should give a large core base income loh......!!

A transfer to the main market would be great

Posted by bursadiary > 2019-03-24 15:10 | Report Abuse

The biggest catalyst?

my shareinvest BNM had on 24/3/17, announced new policy/ measures to enhance the security of ATMs & other related cash service machines against robbery attempts.

Among the few measures is imposition of ink-staining technology at ATMs, Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) & Cash Recycler Machine (CRM) which will cause the banknotes stored within to be stained in the event the ATMs are attacked, thus rendering any ink-stained banknote unfit for use.

The policy will come into effect on 1 April 2017 & must be implemented within following timeline:

• By 31/12/17 – 5% of total ATMs
• By 31/12/18 – 15% of total ATMs
• By 31/12/19 – 25% of total ATMs

As of 2016, estimated about 16K ATMs available all across Malaysia.

Opensystem Bhd (0040) being the market leader in providing ATM, CDM & CRM solutions & services is set to be the key beneficiaries.

Worth relooking at this.

P/B 1.76 why got people cheat as 0.16?

Posted by bursadiary > 2019-04-07 23:39 | Report Abuse

P/BV 1.76 times only? So low?

Most tech companies P/BV is 5-6 times!

Vitrox is 8 times.

P/BV is not relevant for tech companies because their ROEs are high.

You should focus on key ratios like ROE, PEG, PER.

management themselves have alot of shares (most of them in top 30 list), they wont let opensys die one la. investors here trading the share as though it will die in the next few years. as if management is not aware of whats going on in the cash economy. retailers should ask themselves which is more logical? 1) that we retail investors know everything and management knows nothing 2) or management already preparing for the next phase but havent announce it yet..

Grab, Uber, tabao, Lazada, Alibaba were barely in Malaysia 5 years ago. Now everyone from my wife to my daughter uses it.

Whenever I travel these days I just use grab or Uber surcharge. When I am in a long meeting with my team, we just order Uber eats, panda.

Online transfers and Alibaba are my main mode of transferring money these days. Even cheques are slowly being phased out. Verification is becoming more and more safer with good security apps.

You only think about cash because you live in Malaysia. In China online wechat payments are dominating the market. In Japan almost everything can be paid via your smartphone. In many countries like in UK there I go often we don't even bring selling cash anymore, everything can be paid via debit card and credit card, from food, to bus rides to clothes to buying groceries at Tesco.

If you think the future is not going cashless then you need to think hard. Which would you rather carry if it was convenient, a card or a pile of easily stolen cash.

FYI even coin payments at the food court these days I just shake the boost to pay for it.

So yes, I use ewallet very very often. How often do you use cash to pay for your grab/uber rides?

Just in case you still live under a rock somewhere and don't realize that given 2 exact choices, everyone will always pick up the more convenient one.

Fact remains, cashless in more convenient ( and getting safer by the day) than cash. Sooner or later, Malaysia will embrace a cashless society like other parts of the world.

For banks, crm and cash machines may soon become a hindrance than a savings. If you can pay your bills online, why walk to the bank at all?

i think this cashless argument is not new, it has been going on for a few years already, Yet in the recent quarter, banks installed a record number of CRM machines, the most ever in a single quarter..the banks seem to act the opposite of what these naysayers are preaching..

Posted by bursadiary > 2019-05-09 21:17 | Report Abuse

OPINION VS FACT

2015: we are going cashless (OPINION)
2015: 200-300 CRMs

2016: we are going cashless
2016: 1000+ CRMs

2017: we are going cashless
2017: 2000+ CRMs

2018: we are going cashless
2018: 4,000+ CRMs (FACT)

Everyone can have their opinions. But facts are what really matters. Period.

A foreign shareholder in the name of DBS Bank Ltd has emerged as the second largest shareholder with 10.1 million shares. Another interesting shareholder with 1.4 million shares is Alma Rubber Estates Sdn Bhd. This very well established company was founded more than 50 years ago in 1963. Why are they buying into OpenSys?
