YiStock, will revenue from tsmc be able to offset the slow down in oil & gas industry? the oil price is down from the peak of US$76 on oct 3 to US$60 now, which is also the january's price.

we need to pay attention on oil price movement as well.

Frontken is in service of oil facilities not in oil business. The production of oil will continue and oil price will continue to fluctuate. Short term oil price fluctuations will not affect the current business

if the oil price drops to say 30-40, the oil industry will slow down to extract more oil, so less maintenance for their equipment.

7210, your point is valid. But I hold a more positive view on oil & gas sector.

On macro view,

Too low the oil price is bad for economy, too high the oil price bad for consumers. USD 70 to USD 80 per barrel is probably the range that going to stay for long time. Donald Trump and Saudi will continue to drive the oil price within this range, i suppose. You already see what happened in saudi when they don't cooperate with trump to maintain the oil price.

On micro view,

Malaysia is going to depends a lot on oil money in next 2 to 3 years, i am expecting a lot of business activity will be carried out to make sure the oil money continue to fund malaysia budget.

On Company View,

If you have notice for the past 3 years, whether you like it or not, and also no matter how high or low of crude oil price, frontken oil and gas sector has been:

1) loosing money in indonesia,
2) deteriorating profit for philipines

Perhaps this is the nature of engineering servicing line. The customers still have to maintain minimum activity to keep some machine running no matter how low the oil price is.

3) for malaysia, Q2 and Q3 i see a steady operating profit of RM 1.5 mil for each quarter. This is approximately 7.6% from the total registered operating profit. If it turn red next quarter, i suppose the impact is minimal.


Based on above perspective, i still classified oil & gas sector of frontken in winter to early spring. It will only get better or at least stay flat.

And it should not impact frontken like it did in 2014. The tanjung pin project really a big missed and was really holly shit!!!

Everybody run for life, MrOTB also kena hammer left right up down. At the end, left few ikan bilis like us still tracking the company.

Is a pleasant experience anyway.

YiStock, what you said make a lot of sense. I hope the oil price will be >60. As for TSMC's 7nm, the only competitor in the world is samsung. there will be more 7nm tape-out from TSMC next year.
