KILL THE GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGG.
Don't invest in Bursa Malaysia anymore, invest into other share market, no big investor want to invest anymore in Bursa Malaysia with the high stamp duty & Cukai Makmur (the highest in Asia, mention 1-off, who know maybe 2-off, 3-off, investors have no confident on M'sia government), They will run to other country. MOF is damaging the Bursa Malaysia.

Just sharing: my bottom line P&L didnt change as much as i feared and portfolio mix seems good although not excellent.

As my sifu said, end of day closing price is a more practicle measure and not to be swayed by knee jerk reaction.

@tollebunsmith Im a dividend investor. If got big sale I'll usually top up, as long as fundamentals still strong. what do you think about Bursa Malaysia price now? looks like got shopee 11/11 sale now, down almost 7% BAY also? worried about their falling revenue, but their margins always increasing.

https://www.malaymail.com/news/money/2021/11/01/aminvestment-rates-malaysias-banking-sector-overweight-as-loan-growth-picks/2017520

On the average impact to banks from the one-off imposition of “Cukai Makmur” (Prosperity Act) as announced in Budget 2022, the research firm said as it is only a one-time tax rate hike and it expects investors to eventually turn their attention to the improving fundamentals of banks (recovery plays) which will benefit from a stronger economic growth.

“We continue to see prospects of improving total income supported by a pick-up in loans growth and potential interest rate hikes benefiting banks’ net interest margins.

“Additionally, banks’ asset quality is anticipated to improve ahead, hence, requiring lower provisions,” it added.

We retain our overweight stance on the sector with our top buys on RHB Bank with a fair value (FV) of RM6.80 per share, Maybank (FV RM9.90/share) and CIMB Group (FV RM5.80/share).

my PBB and MAY managed to sell get half profit.. PBB was better cause selldown was later than MAY.. and re-enter back with new price...make clean getaway by 14 cents per share kept the profits i make from TP just in case in pars lower for better reentry price..... cashed out from MMC for war chest for bargain hunt also. don't think I gained much but managed to redeploy some cash for a lower entry price

just a bit sour grape with the lost of half my earlier MTMs

Dividend versus Capital appreciation.

Dividend is determined by the fundamental of the company.

Capital appreciation is determined by market forces/trend.

I prefer low beta high dividend stocks because when the market is down and (if) it stays down for many many years I still get my dividend if the fundamental of the company is intact.

Fundamentals for banks are improving....market trend no body knows ( like my sifu tolle said...if you know, Warrent Buffet will pay you USD1m to have lunch with you).

If you own Maybank and you compound the dividend yields of 7-8% over many years it's still a VERY ATTRACTIVE INVESTMENT RETURNS.

My 2 sen for the day.

Politics aside, taxing the rich to help the nation n the poor makes sense. But it hurts sobsob.. So the sifus here, this knee jerk should last couple of days yea.. many bargain hunters n also, the rest of the budget n news not too bad.

Already dropped a lot on compared to the past two trading days. I guess some people got the news on late Friday afternoon and unload a whole bunch before closing time.

Below RM8 Maybank can buy. Sahan harimau manyak stabil.

The initiatives from the Budget 2022are mostly positive for the banking sector as various measures have been proposed to increase household income with jobs creation and more cash assistances. Businesses (mainly SMEs) will benefit with enhanced micro-lending facilities while receiving incentives for hiring employees from targeted groups. However, the one-off Prosperity Tax will hurt CY22Eearnings, by 5-14% within our coverage buthas a marginal impact to our TPs (refer to overleaf for further details). That said, there should still be an overall improvement from CY21 amidst better loans performance, asset quality and lower net impairments. However, the uncertainties behind NIMs leave us cautious as its correction could be quicker-than-expected. MAYBANK(OP; TP: RM10.55) is our Top Pick for dividend safety (6-7% yield) and RHBBANK (OP; TP: RM6.10) as a tactical pick for its potential participation in the digital banking space.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): CGS-CIMB research estimated that "Cukai Makmur" will lower banks’ total net profit for financial year 2022 (FY22) by 9%, with AMMB Holdings Bhd appearing to be the hardest hit.

In his view, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) will be the least affected as he estimated a 7% negative impact on the projected FY22 net profit for the bank.

He assumed that 39% of Maybank's FY22 pre-tax profit will be generated from the overseas market and hence not affected by Cukai Makmur.

However, he maintained his "overweight" call on banks given the potential rerating catalyst from his projected core net profit growth of 7.3% for FY22.

He also estimated banks’ loan loss provisioning for the third quarter (3QFY21) increased quarter-on-quarter but declined year-on-year (y-o-y), which was positive for banks’ y-o-y net profit growth in 3QFY21.

Anyways, why got people say next year stamp duty rm200.

Real or not?, 1 day contract rm 200? More expensive than using local broker to buy foreign stock?

I am in the same boat as you. My average is 7.90. So, as for me, I will buy if it drops below that. Otherwise, I have other stocks that I would want to buy with my spare cash.

@AllYCB to share with you, I initially bought PBB at RM14.96 (or RM2.992/unit for perspective) in June 2020, I topped up more PBB till it's RM3.593/unit and again till RM3.796/unit. Since it's long term for me, i dun mind topping up even if it increases my average price as long as it's below the market rate.

Currently my portfolio holdings are MBB:PBB:Tenaga = 56%:13%:31% after pairing down Tenaga for MBB yesterday
