Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd expects its net profit to improve in the second half (H2) of its current financial year ending March 31, 2020 (FY20), compared with the first half, underpinned by reducing credit cost.

Group chief executive officer Joel Kornreich said higher credit cost dragged down the bank’s net profit during the second quarter ended Sept 30, 2019 (Q2).

Jonathan dont talk rubish and contradict yourself pls.

1st u say LDN biscuit defaulted on loans from SEVERAL BANKS, 2nd u say ABMB early to write off and hope for writeback.

If LDN biscuit can default on loans from so many larger banks, what makes u think LDN biscuit can repay one special bank which is ABMB? pay also pay bigger bank first la why pay you.

then u telling everybody commercial banks deposit guaranteed by PIDM. OMG LIKE DUH, BUT HOW MUCH IS GUARANTEED? IF ALL COMMERCIAL BANKS DEPOSIT IS GUARANTEED BY PIDM, WHAT MAKES ABMB MUCH STRONGER THAN THE LIKES OF MBB WHEN BOTH ARE GUARANTEED? OMG...FULL OF SH*t

The problem with Alliance bank is just too small compare to other banks. However, in my place Alliance bank is everywhere because they took over a local bank some years ago.

Used to be multi-purpose bank, slowly evolve till today. In the early days no internet have to go counter to check balance. I think the branding is quite consistent now.

Would like to buy more abmb but no hurry. Got 2 2.5PE explosive stocks eager to buy more.

Few months ago reloan at Alliance Bank, bb HL bank. The loan officer switch from Maybank to Alliance Bank. I ask her why? She said Maybank (CIMB also) kind of combine everything sell together. That's why the huge revenue and high margin (because of low average cost).

I would think this will not work in the longer term. Get one loan and need to buy many accessories which is wasting money and time.

So I like Alliance bank to be small and beautiful.

alliance bank , good pick indeed. innovative, also a potential candidate for acquisition by big banks.

KUALA LUMPUR: The annual Alliance Bank-EcoWorld BizSmart® Challenge to spur entrepreneurship in the country has returned for its sixth year, with over RM1.5 million worth of prizes — a record high for the event.
These prizes will be in cash, product sponsorship and media coverage. The objective of the programme, presented by Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd and Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld), is to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses further.
At the launch yesterday, Alliance Bank group chief executive officer Joel Kornreich said he is expecting a higher number of applications for the sixth edition of the challenge. “We are expecting 500 to 600 submissions this year, higher than the 400 submissions in 2018,” he told reporters.
“The reality TV business challenges will also be made accessible to more viewers via TV3. After the BizSmart® Challenge has ended, we will extend up to RM5 million in collateral-free financing and assign a dedicated small and medium enterprise (SME) banking advisory team, to help the Top 20 finalists with their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.
EcoWorld is delighted to be part of the BizSmart® Challenge for the sixth year, said chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin.
“This unique partnership [that has led us to] meet young and determined entrepreneurs, and seeing them grow in their journey to success, has been very fulfilling indeed. It is also exciting to see the accelerated growth of our alumni, and we look forward to nurturing and mentoring a new batch of young SMEs achieve their full potential,” Liew said.
Kornreich and Liew are also the judges for the challenge, and winners will be selected based on the most innovative, the most sustainable and select winners based on the most viable businesses.
Among the highlights this year is the introduction of Instagram Story business pitch for the first time, where participants can pitch their businesses in video format.
Another highlight is the mentor line-up this year, which will include BFM89.9 founder Malek Ali and Alliance Bank head of group SME banking Ernest Kwong, providing hands-on coaching during the reality TV business challenges to the Top 10 finalists, and lending perspective and guidance on their business plans and strategies.
This challenge is open to all SMEs in the country that have been in operation for not less than one year and not more than five years, with an annual turnover of less than RM50 million. Since its inception in 2013, the BizSmart® has empowered over 130 finalists in their entrepreneurial journey.

Retain NEUTRAL. Although the growth outlook for banks is modest, we draw comfort from the sector’s inexpensive valuations as it trading near -2SD to its 5-year average P/B. Those that favour exposure to this sector have to be selective. We like banks that give above average dividend yields (Maybank; TP: RM9.50), still eking out healthy growth (RHB; TP: RM6.45 & BIMB; TP: RM5.00), and saw its valuations got bashed down to below -2SD and trough level (Alliance; TP: RM3.30).

yup, good choice for banking stock :p

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 11): The funds that won big from Asia’s worst-performing major equity market placed their bets on technology stocks.
Eastspring Investments Small Cap Fund scored a 16.6% return in 2019, while Kenanga Syariah Growth Fund returned 15.6%, topping the list of Malaysian funds with US$100 million or more in assets, Bloomberg-compiled data show. That’s even as the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index slumped 7.6%, set for the steepest drop since 2008. In contrast, the smaller cap gauge has rallied 22%.
Being prescient has paid off for Eastspring and Kenanga as the export-reliant economy faces headwinds from global trade tensions and a muted economic outlook at home. Both funds have one strategy in common: the tech sector, which has benefited from trade diversions due to the US-China rivalry. They also expect the country’s biggest companies to rebound after losses this year.
The worst may be over for Malaysia as investors have set their expectations low despite lingering uncertainties, UBS Securities said in a report. “We think the market could trend higher once earnings growth bottoms and confidence recovers,” according to the Monday note, which expects the benchmark to reach 1,680 by end-2020.
The KLCI Index rose 0.1% to 1,562.88 as of 9:30am in Kuala Lumpur.
Here’s what the funds are buying:
Eastspring Investments
The fund expects the tech sector’s “bullish trend” to continue for many more years, said Tung Yin Wai, who helps manage the RM807 million (US$194 million) Eastspring Investments Small Cap Fund.
“We have some good themes like your 5G, your data centers and your storage enterprise, we think it will continue to grow regardless of the economic situation,” she said.
Malaysia’s technology index has jumped 26% in 2019 as companies like Inari Amertron Bhd and ViTrox Corp Bhd reap a windfall from the US-China trade war. Malaysia shipped an additional US$2 billion of tariff-affected goods to the world’s two largest economies since the levies were imposed, according to the World Bank. Semiconductors and electronic circuits made up the bulk of exports to US.
Inari is among the fund’s top holdings, as well as glove maker Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd. and Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
