clap....clap....clap...

Malaysian GDP growth

2011 5.3
2012 5.5
2013 4.7
2014 6.0
2015 5.1
2016 4.2
2017 5.9
2018 4.7

Can you please tell me how does it warrant ABMB as a stock to show consistent negative net profit growth when in 2017, the malaysian GDP grew at one of its fastest pace in the past 8 years? Why is it so consistent in showing negative growth in net profit while other banks showing consistent positive net profit growth?

Anyway whatever. Why should i be the one to point the facts and numbers out for you, when you as an investor bought without evening looking into the numbers first.

Bet you dont even know where to get the Malaysian GDP figures. Bunch of ignorant fools living in denial.

if you are Singaporean , then you won't understand Malaysian politics/economy and ABMB, so we see you, are scratching the leg with the shoes on.ABMB in the early day was own by MCA, the change hand to former finance minister DAIM, these people are politicians , don't know how to run a bank properly, and they are surrounded by greedy cronies. Now you see a more professional body coming in , business return to normal, more over people worked so hard for a new government to put in place, and general expectation is that we could see brighter future.

TA_trader,...You seemed to be bitter yourself. Accusing me of so many things without any proof when I was just plain curious to ask the question. FYI, I rarely invest in local stocks. The last time was many years ago. Though I am a trained analyst of more than two decades, I'm not capable of analysing stocks, unlike you who are the expert. So how much money have you made. Don't just brag irresponsibly behind an online identity. We can meet at any police station of your liking to make your police report. The ball is in your court.

Limited banking License avaible in our country ,thus it enjoys some kind of monopoly, red sea competation cannot arise,as other industries encountered. Risk factors are limited.Once you run it in a professional way,it can bring in good return.Great room for business expansion too, particularly in ASEAN region.Look RHB bank has just enter Vietnam, by acquiring a 100% owned invesrment bank license.

With the impending cut in OPR, AFG will experience the biggest impact to earnings among banks. This is because its percentage of variable loans is arguably the highest when compared to all banks, currently at around 89.90%

New Supplementary notice on Foreign exchange administration rules will further weigh on banks like ABMB, as SMEs (net importer) are now allowed to receive in foreign currencies from resident entities with foreign currency export earnings for settlement of domestic trade in goods and services (subject to conditions).

This effectively puts pressure on ABMB's already lousy foreign exchange business.

Good Luck!

This alliance bank still trying luck. Wait and see what others are doing to their base rate. NO NEED TO SEE ALREADY. Just cut your base rate by 25 basis.

When BNM hiked 25 basis, alliance bank hike 25 basis.
when BNM cut 25 basis, alliance cut only 15 to 20 basis.

Trying to do that AGAIN?! I DARE YOU TO TRY THAT AGAIN.

Even MBB has to issue the second announcement to cut a further 5 basis after initial 20 basis downward adjustment.

ABMB will have to bear the FULL BRUNT of contraction in their Interest margin.

Good luck all, continue to hope for a BOUNCE please.

FYI, alot of manufacturing companies are suffering. Alot of them even stop their production line in between as they do not have sufficient demand from their customers. Weak banks like ABMB will be the first to get hit, as they would always BEG for your deposits.

dream on....

not just will it refuse to climb, ex-dividend will drop further.

1.) Like i said, latest BNM FEA supplementary notes will put a dent into their non-interest income, as majority of their business is derived from SMEs.

2.) Not to mention cut in OPR and slower economic conditions (especially SMEs) will put further pressure on their interest income.

3.) Lousy management, highly paid management

4.) Highly paid mid level management busy politicking resulting in high turnover. Hiring new staff at higher salary and need to retrain them on their business operations. Also, to hire bankers from other bank, need to pay the other bank 6 months of the staff's salary to BNM training fund.

5.) Hence you see fluctuation in their profits as well. Just imagine if you are their customer, every 6 months to 1 year different relationship manager. Then when 1 RM left, suddenly nobody servicing their customers.

My choise is ABMB. Its a semi foreign bank. Not 100% local. Singapore DBS has an interest. I have chosen ABMB over RHBBANK.

Medium term, i dont fancy banking counters simply because, like the economy, banking performance are cyclical. Moving forward, margin compression, revision of banking regulations, stiff competition, slower economic growth are among the reasons why i think banking counters have no significant upside in the medium term.

Why i prefer RHB over this counter is very simple. Just compare the net profits between the 2 for the past few years. RHB growing consistently, while the other, as i explained..stagnate, EVEN DURING PERIODS WHERE THE MSIAN ECONOMY (GDP) was thriving.

While i like ABMB's major shareholders very much, the top management and middle management are pretty..........*i dunno what to say, take a look at their financial performance itself*. Also, i know very well and received from various feedbacks on their culture and how they conduct their business. Lastly, ABMB fails to reinvent themselves, concentrating solely on SME's which are the most risky during an economic downturn.

Hi Navin,

As much as i would like to meet up and meet fellow investors like yourself, I am sorry but i wont be attending the AGM as i am not invested in ABMB. Also, i honestly have no interest in how they are doing, because i KNOW they will not change for years to come. Especially when their senior management and mid level senior management is still around.

Even if they change, will take few more years..coz alot of vested interest involved. ( if u dismiss the senior and mid level guys, gotta pay them compensation as well as their share options)

Like i said, just go to the ground, speak to the branch staffs, front-liners etc. Also look at their business model, mainly targetting SMEs. Big banks with better pricing and well established sales delivery channels can easily take these customers away. Placing your bank's reliance mainly on SME's business is also very risky.

Finally, look at BNM's recent FEA supplementary rules where it allows SME's the flexibility to settle trade in foreign currency (Under stipulated conditions). --> this will effectively reduce their FX business volumes. Alot more la!!!...too many ..cant type all here...Anyway just...think thoroughly about it la. You also must have a good feel/understanding about the banking business.

Just to update my fellow investors, from what i gathered, the staff turnover rate continues to rise. What is worse, is that hiring of higher but less competent staff continues on. I am not talking about staffs whose salary range is 5-10k. Im talking about staff whose salary range is between 10-18k leaving, followed by hiring of those whose salary is from 20-40k.

good luck ;)

Well done. Banks had been benefited from merger under the financial sector master plan and squeezed customers and provide poor counter or no counter services or impose charges. Merger also widen income discrepancies as less people share most of the industry profit.

Today's slump push the stock to violate important support level at 3.07, with crushing RSI & MACD, and widening BB, the stock shall head further south. So, don't chase the falling sword, yet.

kan aku dah cakap. During times of economic growth, ABMB's profit growth is either flat or negative growth. The last time it recorded this low quarterly net profit was in 2010. This counter will continue to slump. No upside catalyst. Toxic overpaid senior managers and top management busy playing politics. Still want to put all their eggs into SME biz.

I guarantee you this group of senior mgmt facing risk of being forced to resign. While doing so, some of them maybe cashing in on their share options.

latest 2nd GDP figures came in at 4.9%, but ABMB reverse pulak. LOL. The only way for this bank to recover is to get rid of all their senior and top management.

While shareholders cry, senior and top level management laughing their way out. after 5 to 7 years of high salary and bonus, now leave the bank and retire. So what's left behind? crying shareholders.

Just think about it,

Who in the world would want to do business or bank with ABMB? Let me ask you.
1.) Does ABMB offer better convenience compared to larger banks like MBB or PBB?
2.) Does ABMB offer better pricing compared to bigger banks who have strong infrastructure, deposits base and better talents?
3.) Does ABMB staff offer better service when their staff's are so demoralized and when turnover rate is so high?
4.) Does ABMB have more product variety compared to larger banks?

THINK ABOUT IT.

The only customers who would borrow or do business with ABMB are customers who cant get loan from larger banks.

Get it?

Hence, you deduce yourself as to how risky their loan portfolio is.

That is why they always embark on their SME "Strategy"

"Strategy"...HAHAHAHA
