There will also be more research reports recommending this company as part of anyone's portfolio to ride on the strength of excellent FCF and steady profitability.

I think what the fund managers who are trying to pick up large stakes in this Co for cheap is to lull the shareholders into believing that the actual share value & interest in it is low.

Just when you think the price will not appreciate & are willing to throw at small price increments, it springs a surprise resulting in the opportunity loss for those who have discarded the shares.

Congrats to all shareholders. Seems like my previous RM13 target price wasn't that aggressive after all. those naysayers just missed easy 50% return in a few months, all because of bad attitude and unwillingness to learn. in life, these will cost you dearly.

now that petron has again broken out, wouldn't be surprising if Hengyuan will be following soon

Underlying Share Price (a)
Exercise Price (b)
Ratio (c)
Time Value of Money (D)

Intrinsic Value of warrant = ((a-b)/(c))

Current Warrant Price = Intrinsic Value of Warrant + Time Value of Money

On expiry date, the warrant issuer will pay you based on the intrinsic value of warrant.

This is a simplified idea on how warrant work.

Posted by CharmingMalaysian > 2017-10-04 09:58 | Report Abuse

The longer the maturity date, the higher will be the Time Value of Money. As the warrant approaches maturity, the time value money approaches to zero.

Need to also keep in mind, that the nearer the maturity date, the more prone you are to a fall in share price.

For example, a warrant with 4:1 ratio: when the share falls 20%, the warrant should fall 80%. Keep this in mind when trading warrants

Petron CD has the lowest risk of all, with the lowest premium. Look at HengYuan-CA, expiry on 22/2/18 too, most are buying into it compared to others. Sooner or later, people will discover Petron CD's values.

Do you think CD is dropping because people are selling it and move on to another counter?

lowest premium doesnt mean anything. is still about 10% premium from now. If petron gonna move slow and steady later onwards, this cd not going to move much for sure

Charmingmalaysian

Thanks for replying to my question. Appreciate it. Does it mean that if i hold onto the warrant until the end of the expiry, i will be able to buy the share (say its at rm15 then) at the exercise price of rm9.88?

Never scare at this high price...

Posted by George Leong > 2017-10-04 12:16 | Report Abuse

Newbtrader: If your warrant is rm0.20 per warrant, and your conversion ratio is 20:1. Meaning you need to take 20 of your warrants to convert to 1 share, (rm0.20 x 20) = rm4, you can then add rm9.88 exercise price, in total it is rm13.88. When it is reaching expiry, your warrant price should increase to rm0.25, to make total to match rm15. And that is IF Petron share is trading at rm15 then.

newbtrader, there is 2 categories of warrants. The first category is issued by the Investment Bank and the warrrant is called Cash Warrant. On maturity you will get paid in cash.

The other category of warrant is issued by the company itself. That warrant might be a convertible warrant or some other type of warrant. If it is convertible warrant, then you will be entitled to shares of the company.

Most importantly, before buying the warrant, kindly check the details of the warrant and who it is issued from.

roytheinvestor: shouldnt look at value that way, need to look at the conversion ratio 12:1, and exercise price of rm11.

hehe, quietly bought some CD and CF

Posted by roytheinvestor > 2017-10-04 13:30 | Report Abuse

@George Leong: Noted. Both CD and CF possess the same conversion ratio, but yet the exer value for CD is lower. If base on the current price, the premium for CD @ 1.06, whereas CF premium is higher @ 2.12. Therefore am I right to say that selection over CD is wiser?

Posted by Jelas Ulung > 2017-10-04 13:39 | Report Abuse

Check the IB before buying call warrant. My previous experience : holding 1 Cx with 70% profit margin but UNABLE TO SELL AT ALL coz the mch IB didn't support/buy anymore as they knew >50% of the issued Cx bought by me. Only few small potato offering at very low price and ended up I have to hold for few months till expiry date and unlocked the profit where after conversion only <10% (consider lucky)

Posted by Jelas Ulung > 2017-10-04 13:40 | Report Abuse

got few IB very mch , once they know ppl collecting their Cx they will stop supporting

Posted by Jelas Ulung > 2017-10-04 13:43 | Report Abuse

I m not asking you not to buy Cx , but make sure u know the risk before buying. In fact I also buy a lot Cx , I see it as gambling, not investing.
