risk equal opportunity. also, telco stock normally is a good defensive and potential stock for long term investment. so, Axiata, DG, TM are time to accumulate and hold for long term.

Because they didn't get EPL? What a terrible reason because by winning they have to fork out RM1b

TM has suddenly slipped. Is this a chance to pick up at a reasonable price or is this the classic falling knife? You guys who are into TA - what do the charts say, please?

Then maybe I should stay away for the time being despite it looking so juicy:-P But the -CU at 0.045/0.05... my hands are getting very itchy.

Most telcos on oversold territories. RSI - TM (17), Digi (26), Axiata (33). Of the 3, Axiata recovered the most.

Dear aminmanap1 , That's good sharing.
U back it up with numbers n facts.
Next let the mkt takes its course. We will follow U, the mkt.
Not mkt follows us.
U dare to admit wrong in the earlier post in another stock.
That's strong point man.

think fund managers are taking profit due to high capital appreciation (and good dividend) in the past 1 year. They are preparing for next year's portfolio already....

Telcos are heavyweights n are coreholding for most fund managers. The telcos had their run and reached overbought readings before the selldown. It's natural that fund managers take profit on telcos and switch to other sectors. Mkt has situational plays. The recent interest on O&G sector could stem from news flow on contracts, acquisitions, etc.

The link from KC Loh - Thanks. Various useful information at this blog. I've bookmarked it.
@passerby, TM had seen this kind of sudden slide twice over the past week or so. But it managed to recoup all or most of its earlier losses by the end of the trading day. Let's see how TM goes next week. If it's in a downtrend, then it's better to stay away for the time being and let the process take care of itself first.

The price is "attractive" when we compare it to its recent range and level of above 6.00, reached on 13/7/12 and then 6.30 on 17/7. It then sharply retraced to 5.56 (27/7 - dividend ex-date). However, TM went on an upswing again immediately after that, reaching 6.40 on 5/10. So, when you look at this range, its present 5.51 looks `cheap'.

However, when you look at the bigger picture through its one-year chart, there's the worry that TM might be on a downtrend. Although there's the possibility it will rebound next week due to its technically oversold position, the potential gain of just a few sen might not justify the risk of getting caught should the correction continue.

I'm still new with technical analysis so I might have missed the finer points. But from what I see, TM is now below its 20-, 50- and 100-day Moving Averages of 5.84, 6.00 and 5.94 respectively. It had also reached intra-day "lower lows" since 23/10 (6.00); 1/11 (5.92); 8/11 (5.39) and yesterday (5.38). From a technical point of view, that's certainly not encouraging. The next significant support is at 5.30 - it will have to strongly defend this point to build up a new base. Maybe "Wait and see" is the more prudent strategy with TM and its warrants...?

Nice counter. But in downtrend mode. wait until correction end. Smile--)

axiata , digi , maxis , tm , ytle , which one the best?

digi ,in my opinion, buy maxis if you ready to get ride by ak, axiata and tm, although is glc , it is still solid company, given buying at bargain price, it will be a steal!

ytle can sux my @ss :D

Telcos - TM, Axiata and Digi especially - not too solid at the moment. TM-CU is now back at 0.045, making it look attractive again especially with the long expiry date.

Come on, TM!...finish in the plus today, please. If investors feel the bottom has been reached, it will start to rebound. Would be great if it ends the week at 5.60. Doesn't look like so at the moment but it doesn't take too much for a counter like this to add those sen.

After the telco selloff, fund managers are adjusting their portfolios...don't ever think that our DAVESINGH is always right in his SELL call on telcos now. I believe the selling is overdone. The selling may not be over but it's worth collecting at lower levels. When the telcos return, u'll miss the flight...

This is a 2-way mkt...when one sells, the other buys...how low can it be when technicals are pointing at the bottom? Surely smart investors would bottom fish. If we were to take heed of DAVESINGH's sell call advice, he'll sell all the way until he loses his pants...

josh MAXIS HOME FIBRE RM148 for 10mbps(unlimited quota), RM198 for 20mbps(unlimited quota),

TM Unifi RM149 for 5mbps(60G quota), RM199 for 10mbps(unlimited quota)

Smart user will make their smarter choice - MAXIS HOME FIBRE

TM offer minimun RM30 for hypptv with lower-popularty channels.

MAXIS will partner with ASTRO in future to offer attractive HOME FIBRE + ASTRO HD package with high-popularity channels.

TM and AXIATA (Celcom) are government-linked company (GLC),advise to avoid before GE, have to see which party rule the country.

Better reduce AXIATA and TM, and increase DIGI (foreign norway company, benefit from recent liberisation policy) and MAXIS (attractive MAXIS HOME FIBRE package).

well good thing is, there's more upside than downside due to the oversold position now eh?

Mat Cendana

That's my logic too. Banking on the oversold position to result in a rebound, no matter how mild. The main worry is this - if it breaks below it's support, it will likely go on a downtrend and the -CU will go lower, of course. Well, have to take the risk if one wants to try make a profit.
