if we look at the NYSE market movement, most of the block trade bet
by hedge fund is tech counter. It is particularly in S&P small cap and
second liner. In KLSE look at the syariah indices, most top volume are
dominated by Ace market tech counter, so watch for it. What do you
think another hedged fund favorite sector?

stay away from unisem. and stop listening to ppl saying "wok frying hot". classic red flag to STAY AWAY. trust me.

this company should have seen the move to mobile years ago and transitioned. why aren't they doing anything about it? there is huge demand for dram and nand chips.

The only thing that is frying in this company are the cheap workers which they exploit years back before the minimal wage kicked in. This real boss behind this company is believed to be the evil fat witch using the Chia family for her disposal.
The CEO John Chia is her proxy that hails from the same hometown as her which is in Negeri Semb.If opposition takes over Perak, this will be the company to dispose before you eat sand.

arv18, you're right this company is a bee end company used as a marketing tool to provide temporary jobs for dumping fresh grads with low salaries as cheap labour and internship. This company is well known for frying labour in this country. Most local know this fact.

eventhough its counterpart MPI 's earnings were down, at least it's above breakeven. It's interesteing how MPI is performing with the release of quarterly result next week.

Labour intensive industries in Malaysia is doomed and we're sandwiched by better players both in the higher end/advanced countries and also by sweatshop cheap quality sectors.

Without the proper skilled talents,we could not match the process sophistication of advanced countries such as Taiwan, Korea or even Thailand(that's true) while our labourers are not as dilident as those of China, Vietnam, Cambodia to match them in pricing for low end sectors.

The result is this industry of semicon outsourcing is unsuitable for the country.

Do not trust the rising price movements of this kind of penny stocks because they always fry the counters before their quarterly press announcements to dampen their bad results.

Semicon industry looks like turning around. Most recent conf calls from STM, Infineon, TXN, ONNN, ASML, AMAT, LRCX, ACLS, WFR are saying they see the industry turning around. They believed the bottom had passed. The above are front-end semicons.

Semicon is a very volatile market but also cyclical.

clob1997

46 posts

Posted by clob1997 > 2013-05-18 09:10 | Report Abuse

Semicon growth from manufacturer side..
- Intel new architecture Haswell core with low power, taunted to be the RISC based ARM competitor. Happening in Jun
- 3D NAND (~2014). Extending Moore's law by going up instead of mere shrinkage
- FinFET, 3D Transistors (>2014)

Apple has been satisfying consumer's thirst by providing what consumer really wants with less hardware but not necessary lower price. They sell products at premium with less hardware & pocket the difference. (iPhone, iPads at the expense of PC). Now that Job is resting in peace, the electronics world can again resume selling more hardware to consumer...

Job is in a class of its own. He is able to see the gap what consumer wants & create a huge market in a extremely short time. He single handedly brought down the world pc market, rewrite the mobile market playing field, brought the once mighty NOK to its knees. Along with it, down the drain goes a whole list of electronics companies, restructuring, disposing mobile & DRAM segments. He is seen as a darling for the consumer but a tyrant in the electronics sector, especially PC & mobile related.

Cause it is not it's core game. Semi con has different specialization and RAMs isnt one for it. Besides that, medical-grade infrastructure is something that unisem is exploring.
