Hi abc529, I attended the AGM also. you must be one of the young smart investors around. Did you join us for the factory visit? The share is doing very well today. the 1Q result is good
danchong, im not sure leh. but the treasury shares was due to share buy back. and the share buy back last time is to maintain the share price because of Lembaga tabung haji(LTH) sold it share in big amount. Market cannot absorb the sales from LTH. The share buy back decision is quite reasonable for me. About the sales of treasury share, i dunno why, maybe they need cash? maybe want to lower the debt? maybe want to use in expansion? haha
If they are sending the message that they will support the share price at 63 sens, I think they are interfering too much with the market. The buy & sell proceed is too little to rattle the bottom line or cash flow of the company by much.
I opine that this is a good stock but not at a good price at this juncture.
Hi Jimmy & abc529. I don't know why the price keep going up. I feel the earning need to play catch up with the price. I am not comfortable with PE of 14 now. We are paying too much premium for the 'prospect' of future growth.
Thank jimmy, great article on ntpm. Well researched and very thorough analysis! I do agree it is a good counter to have in anyone portfolio with great potential, but I am not in a hurry to buy. I will build up a meaningful holding when opportunity present itself.
PE growing, i think many people already saw it future expansion is good and steady. in annual report 2013, you will see pacific mutual fund be the new member of 30 biggest shareholders, a great news for us. Last time only RHB following and research about NTPM. But last few week i saw an article wrote from public bank about NTPM.
I do agree with SpiderLRT that the company has an excellent track records and that is very important. Yes, abc529, the company has received a lot more attention recently and that explains the raise in price.
The value and potential of the counter has now been reflected by the price. The question is will it take off from here and never dip below 60 sens again? I think the chance is slim. My stand is NEUTRAL. As a trader, I will not take the chance. Will I seell? Not at this price. As an investor, I will look for a lower entry point.
Jimmy. I will be very happy if NTPM stay above 60 sens. I am just getting myself mentally & financially ready to buy more if it fall below 60 sens. In fact, 2.9 sens dividend at 58 sens, we will get a nice round yield of 5%.
The chart shows that the price is a bit tire after the recent ran up.
We all agree that the fundamental and growth prospect of the company is good.
The remaining question is at what price are we willing to buy this stock?
The EPS for 1Q is only 1.1 sen, well below the 5 sens estimate for FY14 from RHB. To play catch up they need to increase by an average of 0.2 sens a quarter. RHB is a lot more optimistic than me. If the next 3 Q failed to live up to expectation. Although it would hurt the long term prospect. there could be some selling.
At 63.5 sen, EPS 4.4 sens = PE 14.4. Is that high? EPS 5 sens = PE 12.7. Is that Low?
A dividend of 2.9 is a good pay out rate and that is all we can hope for in FY14.
I would say the current price is fair and looking at my portfolio I have better choice.
Bro Jimmy, how do they derive at an intrinsic value of RM1.08?
aunloke got a point here! however, I don't think NTPM growth will remain constant at 15%. We might see a huge jump in earning on its 3rd or 4th year.
abc529, I agree that there are BIG boy collecting this shares. You are young and time is on your side. Your focus is good and it won't be wrong to hold on to this share for 5 years. Perhaps, you need to consider opportunity cost also.
Something waiting is a wrong decision. Just like before election, many people tend to wait. Election finish, the next day market already fly until holland. But waiting sometimes is a correct decision too. I think this stock has a low BETA only. So its isn't the best way to wait US stop QE. my own opinion only.Good luck bro.
