Many dry bulk companies up 4-10% yesterday night (US and Europe) and today (Asia), Maybulk is still discounting for Malaysian investors... Grab the opportunity to slowly accumulate...
It means maybulk overvalued at rm 0.80 plus previously … Just imagine BDI kept surging until all time high for past decade n bursa index at 2 month high currently.. If not, the fund oredi push it below rm0.60’..
With record high (11-year high) Baltic Dry Index and historical demand for commodities (iron and coal), Malaysian Bulk Carriers is expected to have another quarter of solid revenue and hopefully a turnaround opportunities. Wider dry bulk trade is expected to rise 4.2% year-on-year in 2021 and by 1.7% in 2022. Fleet growth is likely to lag behind the increase in cargoes, with capacity expanding by 3.3% this year, and 1.4% growth next, the Clarkson data show. - Bloomberg
Unfortunately, we believe that the slowdown in grain trade and the previous impairment losses coupled with the recent disposal of vessels in the company's fleet could exert a negative impact on the next earnings. Therefore, we are primarily concerned that the company might not be able to capitalise on the current bullish trend of dry bulk costs.
Despite that, we are cautiously optimistic about Maybulk as a result of its shaky financials and decreasing liquidation value. Decreasing liquidation value over a long period of time (more than 6 consecutive quarters) is usually an ill omen regarding a company's future state and shareholder's returns.
I know @pingdan you are a very experienced investor looking at your post history. You discovered Supermax in 2015 and big tech companies in 2016. So no more price targets from me. I believe you could be right in the long term but not in the short term.
hey wallstreetrookie, why u keep on said that there will be impairment? U really know what is impairment or not?
Indications of impairment [IAS 36.12] External sources:
a) market value declines b) negative changes in technology, markets, economy, or laws c) increases in market interest rates d) net assets of the company higher than market capitalisation Internal sources: a) obsolescence or physical damage b) asset is idle, part of a restructuring or held for disposal c) worse economic performance than expected d) for investments in subsidiaries, joint ventures or associates, the carrying amount is higher than the carrying amount of the investee's assets, or a dividend exceeds the total comprehensive income of the investee
These lists are not intended to be exhaustive. [IAS 36.13] Further, an indication that an asset may be impaired may indicate that the asset's useful life, depreciation method, or residual value may need to be reviewed and adjusted. [IAS 36.17]
Determining recoverable amount a) If fair value less costs of disposal or value in use is more than carrying amount, it is not necessary to calculate the other amount. The asset is not impaired. [IAS 36.19] b) If fair value less costs of disposal cannot be determined, then recoverable amount is value in use. [IAS 36.20] c) For assets to be disposed of, recoverable amount is fair value less costs of disposal. [IAS 36.21]
Fair value less costs of disposal a) Fair value is determined in accordance with IFRS 13 Fair Value Measurement b) Costs of disposal are the direct added costs only (not existing costs or overhead). [IAS 36.28]
Question now is any indicator of impairment incurred? Answer is no. If there is no indicator of impairment, why impairment will incurred? As per info from management on quarter report, Supramax is at near to historical new high and all of the ship are earning money. Why there wil be impairment incurred?
You really understand impairment or not? Or u blindly believe on the research from IB? Most of the IB do not know what is accounting standard. Hence u cannot rely their report to let u know whether this company can invest or not. You must do your own homework.
Do you know what is BDi? U don't know Do you know what is Maybulk doing? U don't know Do you know why impairment incurred? U don't know Do you do your homework on Maybulk? I don't think so. U totally dun understand what we talking about. U keep on talking about impairment but u even know what is impairment. Why impairment incurred. Then how u comment on this?
Seriously we are all aware that she is going to turnaround this year with relatively handsome profit if not turned debts free company notwithstanding bearing the title of one of RK affiliates. What is still fall short of market expectations. it the disgruntled big shots cashing out due to board tussle or simply sick and tired with the company run by Old fashioned management and board members. Is she able to sustain this business model with 5 ships self owned and operates with other leased ships depending on charters? Break even TCE at ???
No point of holding guys. Just cash out, yes their earnings is going to be good but ask yourself, they are selling their vassel one by one. Then what business are they going into? I think this is the main reason why insti funds did not enter despite good earnings. No direction, only kept selling selling.
Come on la operator …people invest a lot of money to your counter ...but did not see any appreciation or improvement on the price.....what you trying to do ...
Bank Pembangunan Malaysia dumped almost all their shares. They have equity analysts, CFAs, strategists, economists, accountants. You don't think they found something wrong with this company?
@pingdan's research is heavily flawed. He didn't factor in the future trend in dry bulk industry. He relied on the BDI index like it is gospel. He also did not consider the macroeconomic indicators regarding grain trade and compare it to peers within the shipping industry such as Maersk, Mitsui. Other companies keep acquiring ships and dispose them at a huge profit margin while Maybulk is merely disposing to survive each quarter. Company is going to fold
