he used 4.5x PE multiple to arrive at that TP of 0.35 for FY13, but did not explain the basis for using that magic number of his...LOL...investors not stupid leh...is this a genius analyst??? Malu man...
That's exactly the point! Companies are created to MAKE PROFITS. And when one does that, and is projected to continue doing so plus at a more than reasonable rate, why should it be downgraded to so low and so harshly?! This is my issue with the OSK analyst - they do have some influence on investors and the market and therefore must face greater scrutiny. We are talking about real money here; of people losing money because some analyst added fuel to a fire. The question is, was it intentional and with hidden motives?
Hohoho ..I like the no.3 Mat or maybe he/she is linked to one of the syndicate in the country. Besides salary received fr his/her employer, he/she can make huge money out there by making stupid review over any speculated counter. Retailers cried out there but someone laughing all the way to hell (not noticed by the culprit also).
At least HLIB Research has a basis in arriving at its revised TP of RM0.73, ie based on the average of US HDD brand manufacturers’ FY13 P/E of 4.8x. But our OSK analyst mentioned none. Suka suka plugged 4.5x. Lol...mind u, there are experienced analysts in this forum...so don't bullshit investors...
@buybackma, You very suspicious mind, ya:-) And that's what I was thinking too. This is not an accusation, so OSK please don't marah ye. But you have to think up of every possibilities.
The very first trade yesterday - very heavy lots were given away... at 5 sen lower than the previous day's close. Percentage-wise, that's very low. WHY SO MUCH and SO FAST?? Okay, so people were worried after learning about JCY's latest quarter. But is it that bad? It wasn't even a loss! Other company sometimes report something similar. But did they suffer a start like that?
Someone might have intentionally started a panic by those first heavy trades, knowing that it would induce contra players to head for the exit and thereby bring a crash. The authorities should investigate this one, at least: Who made that transaction and from where? What if it's from OSK? Wouldn't that be grounds to launch a deeper and wider investigation?

yaa, never trust OSK! How about the prediction of 1.80 before CNY after seeing the dismal performance just announced?
yup...u are right meegoreng...if the analyst concerned can easily jacked up his TP to 1.80 and influence the masses, why couldn't he do likewise when things did not appear rosy? If he can really do accurate forecasting, he should have said that in the early part of the year and not give investors false hope. If he couldn't do accurate forecasting for FY13 in early 2012, can we say that he'd be right with another TP for FY13? We are talking about millions of $ n sen hear. Not kacang puteh business. If he can't be sure of what he's doing, my best advice...quit being an analyst. Even the loss-making GPacket has a mkt value of 0.50. Don't tell us that JCY is worth worse than GPacket? Come on la...Wake up...
Ha ha. Osk or bla bla bla make their tp based on chart. Market condition and comp performance . So tp is changing all the time. Who can tell you start of d yr price and yr end price? U think they r god? Refferwnce is refference friend.
but they used PE multiples to guide them in arriving at the TP, not chart... juggernault....that's how analysts make a living ma...throwing darts to get their TPs...hahaha
I receive daily suggestion from osk with ta. You say not chart? Anyway. They never say it will. They only say it should. do you believe 100% what analyst say? If so.... i hv nothinf to say:)
Research houses do come out with their own technical views and TPs are created by using technical tools. But when they arrive at a TP due to changes in fundamentals, they have to justify with strong reasons. Of coz they're not God, but the std deviation in TPs among analysts shouldn't be too wide...unless they have insider infor...
days ago... ppl are hurayying for the "fly" of JCY... and few days later... ppl arguing with the analysts, technical, TRUST of OSK, CIMB, whatever broker firm it is... AND this is what we call noise. Is this the natural behavior of the "market"?
Solid state drive is taking away the market share from hard disk. What is the future of a company solely relying on supporting hard disk drive industry?
stop those argument about OSK, CIMB, MAYBANK, BLA BLA BLA... thats useless... they just provide analysis they think is true for them. it does not necessary to be true. I did not own any share of JCY here. so i am not bias and talk bull**** here. Just stop the argument and discuss something healthier...
yoh...amateur share investor can do better than professional analysts. I thought this famous quote well known by everybody. Hehe...F the research service as we are just giving them commission to feed their family (a job) :D
@kclee, No, it's definitely not useless. Like it or not, people *are* influenced by their reports, just like they are with those written by journalists. These people are regarded as experts in their fields. Unfortunately, they are not all alike - some are better than others. And some might have hidden motives. But fortunately, we now have the internet and forums like this - analysts, journalists and the likes no longer have a monopoly on opinions. We must have a critical mind and not be afraid to explore the various possibilities and angles.
I wouldn't dare to recommend anything - it's dangerous and of no benefit to me, especially if things don't work out. BUT since you asked... watch YTL Power, among others. If it has reached the bottom, and really rebounding, this might be worth investing in. Today's Friday and I normally don't buy anything on this day. That's because we don't know what might happen during the weekend. Kena sekali - that time of the JP Morgan thing some months ago where the US drop then affected us too the following Monday. Might have to pay a bit more next week, but I'd consider that as "insurance premium" for not having to hold over the weekend.
Actually I already have Dialog:-) JCY's warrants - only CF looks remotely probable to strike. But at 1.22 compared to JCY's price now and the time remaining, it's going to be very very tough. If one is a cowboy, he can try. After all, it's just a question of sentiment and momentum, as seen recently. 0.015-->goes to 0.03 - that's 100%!... IF others chase it. But if they think "No hope to strike" and no one willing to take over, then it might be 100% loss. Me, tak berani la.
we call it profit taking after surge for so long. It's time to retreat. One must come down when it went up for such a long time. Many stocks are overpriced, yet some are pretty attractive.
year end lar.. everybody selling to get profit for holiday. It'll be an oversold positioning. Opportunity to buy in for investor who waiting for this moment :)
Heard rumors that it'll be taken private in 1H 13. Major shareholders frustrated bcoz share price does not reflect true value. So, might as well go private. When analyst gives a low fair value of 0.35 to such a profitable company, naturally mgt and shareholders got frustrated. 0.6x P/BV. Even the loss-making GPacket is trading at 0.47. If the investing public and analysts don't recogise their performance, might as well delist and swallow all the dividends for themselves.
Sure or not 3sen??? This rumour has been so long in the market, even d company directors sold their shares. Just b extra careful if u really want to trade it.
