Terminate the contract..
Impact
-Many will lost the job
-Subcon went bankrupt
-Many unable to service the mortagenloan n etc
-government lost of income (lesser income tax collection+lesser sst collection)
-market unable to absorb 20k workforce in short time..
-gamuda will plunge another 80sen..
-epf lost money
-foreign investor will think twice before invest in msia( bad image to us)
-gamuda will fall into crisis, ph jz kill a potential star in global market

@godiva, if u believe, they wont cancel the contract, just grab it now... expecting a sudden jump of 30 to 50sen upon the announcement of the contract being given back to gamuda :)

qqq3 one of the hot stocks this morning was Gamuda.....lol....short term a lot of speculative interest.....longer term, they will be lucky to stay above $2.

Gamuda will be hoping MACC do not call them up to account for the profits siphoned during MRT1 and the 40% MRT2 portion.

Gamuda better keep queit and do as they are told and accept whatever price by LGE.......lol.....

“The recent news of the possibility of contract termination between MMC-Gamuda JV (MGJV) and MRT Corp on underground works has raised questions by concerned public. Government look to an option of re-tendering the remaining works with approximate amount of RM9.6 billion.

Currently, MGJV offers RM2.3 billion of reduction but government claimed the amount could reach in a range of 43.6% to 60.3% of cost saving from the remaining works.

One of financial risks result from the termination is the amount of compensation that the government has to consider. Re-tendering also may cause prolongation of project timeline and this will expose to higher cost. Plus minus from the projected cost saving, is it then worth it?

So my focus of discussion, what other risks that we can foresee should the government proceed to re-tender the remaining of the underground works? What are the common impacts of re-tendering an on-going project?” Naz Fariq

Teemination of contract involved complicated legal terms. If gamuda bring this to court, it can takes years before retendering can be done.

gamuda may get back the contract but need to cut allot cost, CGT, inheritance tax can be replace by the stamp duty 30% for foreign property buyer, if they can buy million dollar home then 30% stamp duty is nothing, the government can also implement digital tax for online shopping by putting a 30% tax at the payment gateway
