If you don't know anything about AI data centre business, please do not make any non-sensical comment here.

Microsoft plans to spend over USD50 billion on AI data centres in 2024. This is just the beginning.

The selling pressure was well absorbed with the buying power.

When the buyers, not long ago, took the position at RM4.18/RM4.19 , they bought without hesitation. Just like yesterday when the buyers were buying into above RM4.60/RM4.70 within the minutes.

Those bought above RM4.10 not long ago, they were right. Those who bought even yesterday were right when the price went above RM5 later on.

Meanwhile, some would have like to have sold the shares this morning and buy back later today.

But no one can be sure that will be a profitable venture when the the same shares needed more money to buy again.

Dear dragon328,
I read a lot of information on Microsoft and Nvidia.
Normally they work hand in hand in data center.
Is there any chance that Microsoft will participate in YTLPower data center in Kulai, Johor ?

There are 100 MW data center meant for Nvidia.

What about another 100 MW data center in HLIB's report ?
Can the potential vendor for this 100 MW is Microsoft ?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Yes Lah..

A good CEO will create wealth for all shareholders. How many stocks listed in KLSE can make one billion PAT a year?

Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, recognized the potential of Malaysia as a data center infrastructure hub for Southeast Asia. Here’s why he chose to collaborate with YTL Power International (YTLP):

•Strong Infrastructure: Malaysia boasts a successful data center infrastructure layer, which is crucial for AI and cloud computing. YTLP’s expertise in power and property aligns well with this need.
•Strategic Location: The data center project is likely to be anchored at YTL’s data center complex in Johor, a strategic location in southern Malaysia.
•Access to Land, Facilities, and Power: Malaysia provides essential resources for data centers, including land, facilities, and reliable power supply.
•YTL’s Role: Jensen Huang praised YTL as an extraordinary company and emphasized Malaysia’s importance as a growing technology hub in Southeast Asia.
•Privileged Partnership: Nvidia considers it a privilege to partner with YTL in any capacity.

This collaboration underscores Malaysia’s potential as an AI and computing hub, and YTLP’s role is pivotal in making it a reality!

metaverse "JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Microsoft will invest $1.7 billion over the next four years in new cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Indonesia — the single largest investment in Microsoft’s 29-year history in the country — Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said Tuesday. Microsoft runs one of the world’s largest cloud computing operations and has taken a significant step into artificial intelligence by incorporating an AI chatbot into its search engine, Bing. Its earnings report Thursday said profit rose 20% for the January-March quarter as it tries to position itself as a leader in applying artificial intelligence technology to make workplaces more productive."

Comment: $1.7b for Microsoft is only a small potato but for YTLPower will be like a huge mountain of debt. It is the same as Dr. M was trying to push for automobile industry but eventually failed as we don't have domestic market big enough to support such a fancy high tech industry.

Remember, Microsoft has already made significant investments in Malaysia. As part of its “Bersama Malaysia” initiative, Microsoft announced plans to establish its first datacentre region in the country. This move aims to deliver trusted cloud services locally, ensuring world-class data security and privacy.

Additionally, Microsoft is committed to skilling an additional 1 million Malaysians by the end of 2023 to create economic opportunities in the digital era. The investment is estimated to generate up to USD 4.6 billion in new revenues for local partners and cloud-consuming customers over the next four years. Furthermore, this initiative aligns with Malaysia’s goal to become a regional leader in the digital economy.

*Food for thoughts*...

Do you know that in 2007, around half of all mobile phones sold were Nokia phones?. These guys were massively dominant!

However, in 2007 something happened that you can’t really blame Nokia for. A Smart Guy, Steve Jobs, made this insanely great smartphone that didn’t even have a keyboard, the iPhone. Not only that, he made buying apps so easy that people would actually buy them, making smartphones so much more useful.

And then, to make matters worse, Google decided to partner with every smartphone manufacturer in the world via Android, which would emulate the iPhone. And they didn’t care whether they made any money or not so gave the software for free.

As for Nokia, it’s far more difficult changing a legacy software, like Symbian, than making an essentially new one like Google did with Android. And given they were so dominant in both hardware and software; they couldn’t have really abandoned either.

Nokia should have adopted Android, they didn’t as they thought Android was way behind, and of course a competitor. Nokia now has becum a History Lesson..

Moral of the story is....

If you cannot beat them, join them...hihihi..

@metaverse has a point or two, but comments all over the place on non-contextual stocks/matters.

I agree, lots of promises from YTLP, plenty hot air to bid baloon; company operations do have sound fundamentals, capable management in place. However not much in way of numbers to match, no great track record.

Question remains what value this stock will return to minority shareholders, being highly controlled by YTL parties. Skim yields off rising PER, that's pretty much it. Enjoy the roller coaster up...and down.

Meow Jonathan...

With the emergence of the iPhone in 2007 marked a turning point. Nokia’s market share declined, and by 2013, it made up less than 3% of the total mobile phone market. The company sought to exit the industry altogether.

As for Apple, it’s actively exploring ways to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) features into its ecosystem. AI-powered iPhone: Apple (AAPL) and OpenAI resumed talks on integrating the startup's generative AI capabilities into the new iPhone, expected later this year. The discussions mark a renewed attempt by the tech giant to add the AI features to iOS 18, the next iPhone operating system.

Talks with Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI about a potential deal began earlier this year, following similar discussions with Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) to add Gemini to the iPhone. Apple may opt for a deal with both OpenAI and Alphabet or prefer one over another.

Apple's Q2 results are due on tomorrow, and Mabel will closely watch for comments on its strategy to integrate genAI functionality into the iPhone. Keep an eye out for more updates during Apple’s Q2 results announcement tomorrow!

Summing up: Nokia paid a high price for not embracing to the new way of thinking.

Saya beli banyak YTLP dan YTL dgn harga kurang drpd RM1 ketika wabak covid-19 kerana setiap tahun dpt dividend yg lumayan. Lepas itu, EPSnya meningkat (terutama sumbangan drpd sektor elektrik) dgn banyak menjadi harga
sahamnya meningkat dgn banyak. Belum ada sumbangan drpd kerja sama dgn Nvidia.

These are the most powerful quotes by Jensen Huang- Viz Nvidia AI Powered Data Centres.

Huang told analysts, "Fundamentally, the conditions are excellent for continued growth in calendar ’24, to calendar ’25 and beyond."

"We now have a new type of data center that is about AI generation, an AI generation factory," he said. "And you’ve heard me describe it as AI factories. But basically, it takes raw material, which is data, it transforms it with these AI supercomputers that Nvidia builds, and it turns them into incredibly valuable tokens."

Guess what, YTL is handpicked by this genius ( J Huang/Nvidia) to collaborate on Green AI Data Centres in Kulai.

Mr. OTB, big data and AI are the big trend going forward for next few years in the tech world. Big clouds are spending big on AI infrastructure, eg. Microsoft plans to spend US$50 billion on AI infrastructure and data centres in 2024, AWS spent about US$47b a year on average in 2019-2023 on AI, Google spent US$12 billion on AI in Q1 2024 alone and Meta has raised its capex range by 12% to almost US$40 billion on AI in 2024.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently said at the GTC24 that the potential AI market size is as large as US$250 billion a year. AMD CEO estimated in Dec 2023 that the market size for AI chips may reach US$400 billion by 2027.

Hence, we are seeing big clouds like Microsoft is investing big on AI in every major region and country to expand on its AI cloud computing business and footprints.

To expand their AI data centres in Malaysia, it is only natural for these big clouds to partner with YTL Power for the following competitive advantages:
1) YTL Power is the only company outside the US that has first hand access to Nvidia's latest Blackwell B200 GPUs
2) YTL Power already has a big piece of land in Kulai sufficient to support up to 500MW of green data centres, and the land is already developed with basic infrastructure ready for AI data centre installation

3) YTL group has the construction expertise and track records to develop data centres at competitive cost and world-beating time, eg. they built their first power plants in Malaysia in world record time, they already completed the data centre for SEA Ltd within a year and ahead of schedule

4) YTL group has the financial resources to start basic construction early and can do innovative financing to fund the capex, to offer certainty of delivery in Malaysia

5) YTL Power can build and run data centres at its Kulai site at very competitive costs, given that it has land and financial resources to put up solar power to lower the cost of electricity for powering the data centre, and it owns a strategic stake in Ranhill which will supply sufficient water to the data centre park at competitive pricing

In short, I think it is just a matter of time for the big clouds to strike a deal with YTL Power to build AI data centres for them, as it will take shorter time and lower cost to complete.

@ Agil -Absolutely, these facts are irrefutable or rather cannot be denied by a sound minded person.

YTL Power's competitive advantages which are factual are as follows:-

1) YTL Power is the only company outside the US that has first hand access to Nvidia's latest Blackwell B200 GPUs

2) YTL Power already has a big piece of land in Kulai sufficient to support up to 500MW of green data centres, and the land is already developed with basic infrastructure ready for AI data centre installation

If Indonesia export electricity to S'pore will YTL PowerSeraya be affected?

dragon328

2,576 posts

Posted by dragon328 > 2024-05-01 21:39 | Report Abuse

The electricity export from Indonesia to Singapore has been talked about for years, and it is part of the 4,000MW RE import that Singapore is aiming for by 2035.

The RE import will be done in gradual manner as the importers are also big players in Singapore electricity market, i.e. Keppel, Sembcorp and PowerSeraya.

I am confident that the Singapore electricity market will be able to adsorb such orderly RE import as the electricity demand growth is strong enough, and as more old generating plants are retired from 2026 onwards.

dragon328

2,576 posts

Posted by dragon328 > 2024-05-01 21:42 | Report Abuse

But RE import to Singapore is easier said than done, especially from other countries like Indonesia and Laos as they would need to pull under-sea power cables for hundreds or thousands of kilometers, and double or triple redundancy for under-sea power routes. Big costs, long time, many parties are involved, so much more complicated than extending the power intertie between Malaysia and Singapore just across the Causeway

To just buy into ytlp just for Seraya Power will be a tad less depth in the investment. Cheers!

Singapore looks elsewhere amid doubt over Indonesia's green power exports

This was last years article. There may still be issues to be ironed out in Indonesia with regards to exporting green power.

By the way Singapores projected poor requirements is massive and I doubt power seraya will be affected. YTLP's construction of a 600 megawatts hydrogen-ready CCGT is estimated to cost S$800 million and is targeted to be completed by Dec 31 2027,

Dear dragon328,
Thank you for your good information.
I really appreciate it.

I spend many good hours to study all reports on Nvidia, I believe Nvidia will bring huge profit to YTLPower in the next few years on data centers in Kulai, Johor.
YTLPower is very lucky to be selected as a business partner by Nvidia.

The share price of PIE hit 30% limit up when the company announced it has secured a sizeable AI server client that will take up the entire Plant 6.
Likewise, I believe when Nvidia takes up the 100 MW of YTLPower's data center in Kulai Johor, the share price of YTLPower will skyrocket up the roof.
This phenomenon will happen at the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Good luck.
Thank you.
