Dun compare gloves to vaccine counter although they are both in health care.... Gloves is expected to down because pandemic going to end by vaccine, while vaccine is new emerging market, next few year u still need to inoculate one, is not one time business ok..... Shark has been playing with alot counter to press down the price, look at yesterday D&O price from 3.6 press down to 3.3 then after market close result out shoot up to 4....and FPI one week time from 3.4 press down to 2.5 yesterday, today back to 3, QR will out by today or tomorrow... Look at how shark playing, if u can't hold it, u will just flush out..

Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) CEO Albert Bourla said in an interview with NBC News' Lester Holt that because additional variants of COVID-19 are likely to crop up, individuals may need a COVID-19 vaccine annually.

"Every year, you need to go to get your flu vaccine," Bourla said. "It's going to be the same with COVID. In a year, you will have to go and get your annual shot for COVID to be protected."

Pfizer and other drugmakers involved in COVID-19 vaccines are working on vaccine boosters that will improve protection against variants, such as those first discovered in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Brazil.

Bourla told NBC News that a third COVID-19 vaccine dose "will boost the antibody response 10- to 20-fold."

Pfizer and its partner BioNTech SE (NASDAQ:BNTX) earlier today announced they have started a study evaluating a third dose of their COVID-19 vaccine to determine how it might further boost immunity and its effectiveness against the variants.

In January, the executives from Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) voiced similar remarks. "From what we’ve seen so far, I think our expectation is that the vaccination should last you at least a year," Moderna’s outgoing chief medical officer, Dr. Tal Zaks had said at the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference.

"I think this will become a market like flu," Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel told CNBC in January predicting that the emergence of new variants will require adjustments to vaccines.

Yesterday, Moderna announced that it completed the manufacturing of clinical trial material for a variant-specific vaccine candidate targeting the SARS-CoV-2 variant first identified in South Africa.

KUALA LUMPUR: Duopharma Biotech Bhd has confirmed it will procure and supply to the Health Ministry the Covid-19 vaccine known as Sputnik V developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.

In a statement today, Duopharma said its wholly-owned Duopharma (M) Sdn Bhd (DMSB) had signed a term sheet agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) to secure 6.4 million doses of Sputnik V.

RDIF is the appointed marketing agent for Gamaleya for all international markets.

RDIF has established partnerships in India, China and South Korea to manufacture the Sputnik V vaccine in order to cope with the global growing demand for this vaccine.

Duopharma said supplies of the Sputnik V vaccine could be from any of RDIF's partners, subject to approval by Malaysia's National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA).

Duopharma group managing director Leonard Ariff Abdul Shatar said its latest initiative fully supports the Covid-19 National Vaccination Plan.

"Our investment in vaccine fill and finish facilities and cold chain distribution synchronously aligns both with the government's recently announced aim to develop in-country vaccines in the long term to reduce dependency on other countries," he said.

Besides that, Duopharma said together with RDIF and Gamaleya Institute, was exploring further collaboration to enhance its capabilities in research and development, technology transfer, local manufacturing, and supply of the vaccine to other Asean countries.

Subsequently, DMSB has also entered into a term sheet agreement with the MOH to supply 6.4 million doses to vaccinate 3.2 million Malaysians.

ThecSputnik V vaccine will be supplied in phases this year.

DMSB will also provide warehousing, logistics, ground support and other services to the government hospitals and clinics.

Leonard said the company had put in place an existing inert human vaccine fill and finish line at its plant in Klang, and it was ready to be used.

"We are also positioning ourselves to upgrade our facility to ensure the equipment will accommodate the localisation of vaccine manufacturing in Malaysia, which consequently can increase vaccine accessibility, reduce dependency on importation, and ensure long-term self-sufficiency of vaccines for the country.

"This is in line with our mission to become a leading healthcare group providing quality and innovative solutions," he said.

“Our vaccine roadmap, including the F&F facility and a full manufacturing plant will not only be the first in Malaysia, it will also be the first halal vaccine plant in the world. Many renowned vaccine manufacturers will be involved in the know-how and technology transfer in which Sinovac will participate for two vaccines, InsyaAllah,” said Zulkarnain.

In the long term, he said, besides helping the nation to reduce dependency on imported vaccines, Pharmaniaga’s foray into vaccine venture will help the government to reduce its yearly vaccine expenditure.
