The safest place to park your money in times of crisis is still Maybank. Over the past 12 years, it has consistently paid dividends of over 50 sen a share every year, giving a dividend yield of over 6%. No plantation company is able to achieve such feat.

in 1997 my Remisier friend got two Maybank scripts of his clients in hand

his client allowed him to do short sell as long as he buy back

(in those days got physical scripts )

My friend Alfred short sell Maybank shares all the way down from Rm20.00 to Rm2.50

Maybank was not safe

Public Bank was sold down to only 80 sen a penny stock


so many gone bankrupted

only those who owned palm oil did well

CalvinTPTan, so you are expecting a repeat of another financial crisis which would result in the collapse of Maybank, Public Bank, CIMB Bank? Just dream on. RHB Bank has a dividend yield of 7%, Maybank and CIMB Bank have around 6% yield. Name me just one plantation counter that has such kind of dividend yield.

Maybank declared a 1 for 2 bonus in 1993, a 1 for 1 bonus in 1998 and another 1 for 2 bonus in 2001. Its paid up capital after the bonus issue in 2001 was only about 3.5 billion. Its paid up capital today is 12 billion after another few bonus issues and rights issues. Those who had bought Maybank at its peak (about RM30) during the bull run in the 90s and kept their shares till today have made tons of money. No plantation company can come close to this.

as usual calvin if you are good at one thing its consistency, your love for TSH is overwhelming, for what reason... only god will know :-) if you ask me if TSH is stable company? I say fairly yes..... and does it pay dividend? Yes, fairly well and at reasonable returns..... but does it have any upside? Well.... none at all, as far as news on company developments are concerned. After hitting RM1,60 in april 2022..... its been hovering between RM1.00-1.20 over the past 2 years !!! When I ask for profit forecast next 3 mths or 6 months calvin you said cannot provide bekos you are long time investor..... well how long is long time? If the price is going to increase only after 10 years then i will wait and buy in the 9th year loh? But I agree palm oil stocks are generally stable and its good for retired people to invest in.... no heart attacks when market goes up or down sharply.... so thats my review..... lastly calvin how mush TSH shares do you hold? I guess not as high as 5% as otherwise you would be substantial shareholder....

Tsh monetized its palm oil lands

Tsh sold two Sabah palm oil lands for Rm245 millions cash

Tsh also sold its Bulugan lands for Rm731.09 Millions cash (as of now Rm500 Millions received and awaiting news of final payment of Rm221 millions cash

As for lands in ikn nusantara the cost and book value is dirt cheap around Rm4,500 or about 10 sen psf

Even now asking price in Bongan already few hundred thousand per acre

If wait for 30 years like Putrajaya? Can expect few millions Rm per acre
