Vietnam's telecoms market dials up massive revenue growth
Vietnam's telecoms industry posted nearly a 130 percent increase in total revenue in the first half of this year to VND213 trillion ($9.38 billion).
The three providers all reported double-digit revenue growth, helped by subscribers moving from 2G to 3G services, together with the newly deployed 4G services, a report released by the Ministry of Information and Communications said.
4G services have been available in big cities since the beginning of this year, and the three operators are racing to deploy the service across the country by the year-end.
from UOB back in April:
OCK aims to build another 200-300 towers in Vietnam while working on increasing tenancy ratio from 1.26x to 1.3x by end-17.
Ok additional 300 sites signed with new operator. but no material impact until year end. Not really insider because my source not working for the related parties and people seem to know it locally. Not announced yet so not sure it's rumour or real lah
Rebound or not is a different matter because there are other factors. I suspect may take about 2 months before it jumps big attributed to announcement of good news. Meantime it depends on the small investors' mood. But when the news comes it will sure jump, big jump. Such as the jump from 20 to 25 to 30, which you will never see those price levels anymore
@zaizai, if Mytel rents 300 sites from OCK, the upside in earnings is greater than what analysts expected. Upside will be good. Great to accumulate warrants at 31sen (closing today)
They are not building themselves. They are tendering it out based on their business profitability. The activities should start now. It could be anyone but not Mytel themselves.
Author: Kyaw Min | 16 May 2017 Mytel will begin building 350 phone towers in Rakhine State in the next four months. The tendering process for the construction of phone towers will begin within two months
This is good discussion @sos : Mytel is targeting rural area because he is too late to join the tight competition between other telco. However good things is their licensing fee levied is cheaper than other. Mytel : 300mil Telenor : 500mil Ooredoo : 1bil OCk as a third generation builder, 50% of the tower is in rural area and when Pratical mention 300 tower deal initial come to my mind is OCK tower
@Practical Thanks for the info. Mytel initial target only base station construction. Hopefully your source is true.
@zai zai thanks. I guess renting is out of the question (OCK may not have so many built towers in the rural areas as mentioned?). Hence, likely build and leaseback, but yet to see any announcements?
i check back the quarter report.. i found that foreign business seem have more Profit Margin compare to Malaysia business Director say hope foreign business can have more share on total revenue on company.. i see everything is going smooth ~
"Telenor Myanmar hopes to achieve its ambitious targets of having more than 7000 towers by the end of 2016 and widening its coverage to more than 90 percent of the population before 2018. According to a recent press statement, Telenor Myanmar has built 5800 towers and has 17 million customers here."
Seems like the latest batch of Telenor tower was built by OCK...
