The weirdest part of Aax is that it has close to 6b in outstanding loans. Mother AAsia loans less than half of this.
It’s like this anak Aax primed to fail

JAKARTA: A more infectious mutation of the new coronavirus has been found in Indonesia, the Jakarta-based Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology said on Sunday, as the Southeast Asian country's caseload surges.

Indonesia reported 2,858 new infections on Sunday, data by the health ministry showed, below the previous day's record 3,308 but above the past month's daily average. Its total number of cases was 172,053, with 7,343 COVID-19 fatalities.

The "infectious but milder" D614G mutation of the virus has been found in genome sequencing data from samples collected by the institute, deputy director Herawati Sudoyo told Reuters, adding that more study is required to determine whether that was behind the recent rise in cases.

The strain, which the World Health Organization said was identified in February and has been circulating in Europe and the Americas, has also been found in neighbouring Singapore and Malaysia.

Syahrizal Syarif, an epidemiologist with the University of Indonesia, warned Indonesians must remain vigilant, as his modelling suggests the country may see its caseload rise to 500,000 by the end of the year.

"The situation is serious.... Local transmission currently is out of control," Syarif said, adding that the number of infections found daily could have been much higher if laboratories were able to process more specimens in a day.

The capital Jakarta on Sunday saw a record daily increase of more than 1,000 cases, which the city government linked to a higher mobility rate during a mid-August independence celebration.

"There needs to be an awareness and a collective effort, be it from the government or the people, in addressing the rising number of cases," Dwi Oktavia, an official at the Jakarta health agency, said in a statement, urging people to stay at home and wear a face mask when they must go out.

Manufacturing contributes nearly 20 per cent to Indonesia's gross domestic product. But Indonesia’s efforts to revive the economy took a stumble as virus outbreaks forced factories in one of its biggest manufacturing hubs to shut.- Reuters

BENGALURU: Indonesian shares fell more than 1% on Monday, weighed down by a surge in new Covid-19 cases and the discovery of a more infectious mutation of the coronavirus in the country as the impact of upbeat Chinese services sector data faded.

Fears of a further surge in daily infections, already tracking above the past month's daily average in recent days, put the benchmark index on track for its worst day since August 3.

South Korean shares also sank more than 1% on a sell-off led by foreign investors worried by downbeat July factory data and tougher coronavirus-led measures to curb a new burst of infections.

Taiwan, another export-centric market was also lower and Daishin Securities analyst Lee Kyoung-min said the July data in South Korea, timed before the resurgence in Covid-19 cases, raised worries that economic indicators could worsen going forward.

He said the selling by foreign investors had focussed in the electronics sector. Emerging Asian currencies rose early in the session on the back of data showing China's service sector activity expanded at a much faster pace in August.

By the afternoon in Asia most had retreated, with only Taiwan's dollar and the rupiah booking gains.

The U.S. Federal Reserve's new strategy favouring higher inflation and growth has weakened the U.S. dollar since its unveiling last Thursday, despite signs it may push longer-term Treasury yields - a driver for the currency - higher.

Speeches by Fed officials including Vice Chairman Richard Clarida this week may shed more light on the policy and its potential impact on the currency.

India's rupee, fresh off its best week in two years, gave up 0.3% and stocks slid 0.8% ahead of June-quarter gross domestic product data which is likely to show a record slump.

Mizuho analysts forecast India's recovery to be stymied by "ongoing pandemic proliferation", which they said would hinder activity and lead to more fiscal constraints.

Bursa to temporarily suspend PN17 and GN3 classifications
KUALA LUMPUR: In view of the current trying time, the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar announced that Bursa Malaysia will temporarily suspend Practice Note 17 (PN17) or Guidance Note 3 (GN3) classification on companies which financial positions slip into the status.
“We have already allowed PN17 and GN3 companies up to 24 months to regularise their financials.
“So, moving forward, in addition to this, after a discussion with Bursa, Bursa will provide companies listed on the Main Market, temporary relief from the PN17 classification in relation to certain criteria,” said Syed Zaid. The temporary relief also applied to GN3 for ACE Market-listed companies.
Currently, there are 25 Main Market-listed PN17 companies and three GN3 companies on ACE Market which need to regularise their financial positions.
The 28 companies now have more time to work out their regularisation plan considering they contend with challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, said Syed Zaid.
“These measures will allow companies more time to regularise their financial positions. The period for this relaxation will be effective from April 17 this year until June 30, 2021,” he said during a virtual media briefing in conjunction with the release of the SC’s 2019 annual report yesterday.
Noting that extraordinary times call for extraordinary responses, Syed Zaid said “this is not business as usual” given the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. He noted that the SC is deploying a wide range of regulatory tools to support the market and its participants.
While the SC is doing what it can to support the businesses, we remain steadfast in ensuring investor interest is protected during this challenging time. We continue to raise investor awareness on scams, as scammers tend to target people during times of uncertainty.
The SC will take a targeted approach to protect vulnerable investors and minority shareholders. I would also like to remind our intermediaries to remain vigilant and for PLCs (public limited companies) to remember their obligations to shareholders and to make timely disclosures,” he said.
The regulator also assured investors that the Malaysian capital market remains fundamentally strong and is functioning in an orderly manner, supported by deep domestic liquidity and complemented by the government’s stimulus packages.
As the financial system adjusts to the impact of Covid-19, Syed Zaid said the SC will continue to monitor the evolving situation in global and domestic markets, calibrate its responses and update the public accordingly.

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 4): AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) has been hit with a US$22.98 million (RM95.33 million) suit in the UK for alleged breach of contract.

AAX said the airline and its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary AAX Leasing Two Ltd have received a letter detailing a legal claim by BOC Aviation Ltd (BOCA), which will be heard at the High Court of Justice in the Business and Property Courts of England and Wales.

AAX said AAX Leasing Two had leased four aircraft via four lease agreements from BOCA. These leases were dated Nov 24, 2014, but have been amended and restated on Dec 28, 2018, having been supplemented from time to time between BOCA and AAX Leasing Two.

BOCA alleges that AAX Leasing Two had breached its obligations under the lease agreements. There were also breaches under the leases' respective guarantees, dated Dec 28, 2018, it claims.

BOCA is claiming RM95.33 million from AAX and its unit, which represents the outstanding amounts due as debts under the lease agreements and the guarantees that AAX Leasing Two had signed on to.

AAX said the financial impact of the suit on the airline will be a cash outflow of US$22.98 million.

“The board of AAX is currently reviewing the documentations received in respect of the said claim, and will be seeking legal advice in relation to the said claim.

"The company will make the necessary announcements on further developments of the above matter as and when necessary,” AAX said.

Shares in AAX finished unchanged at 6.5 sen, valuing the company at RM269.36 million. The counter saw 11.95 million shares traded.
