AirAsia has resumed flights between Kuala Lumpur and Siem Reap, Cambodia. The airline will operate the route with two flights per week on Mondays and Fridays. Flight AK540 is scheduled to depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) at 13:05, arriving in Siem Reap at 14.20. The return flight, AK541, is timed to leave Siem Reap at 14:55, arriving back in Kuala Lumpur at 18:10.

Cambodia was one of the first countries in the region to relax its entry requirements for foreign travel, reopening the Kingdom to fully vaccinated international travellers without the need for quarantine or COVID19 testing at all international gateways and checkpoints in November 2021.

HE Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, Cambodia, said, “Cambodia is now truly open for all vaccinated tourists and we welcome AirAsia guests back to our great country with open arms. Tourism is a significant driver of our economy and social development, we thank AirAsia for their continued support to stimulate and grow air travel to our key leisure destinations. Cambodia, the Kingdom of Wonder, invites travellers from all walks of life to feel its warmth, safely and hygienically.”

The Siem Reap flights follow AirAsia’s resumption of flights between Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh, the Kingdom’s capital city, in January.

“Prior to COVID19, Siem Reap was one of the most popular destinations in ASEAN as a key tourist hub for globetrotters from all over the world,” said Riad Asmat, CEO AirAsia Malaysia. “AirAsia started the route in 2018 and flew close to 170,000 passengers in 2019. We are confident that these new services will continue to be very popular in the future. In response to strong demand, we are also planning more flights and destinations in Cambodia with services to Sihanoukville scheduled to take flight on 2 June. AirAsia welcomes the initiatives taken by the Cambodian government to ease travel restrictions to allow more seamless travel to Cambodia. We look forward to flying more leisure seekers from near and far to the country soon.”

For entry into Malaysia, all international tourists and travellers are required to take a pre-departure COVID19 test within 2 days of departure and purchase COVID19 travel insurance (for short-term foreign visitors). Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers are required to spend 5 days in quarantine.

For entry into Cambodia, there are no pre-departure, post-arrival COVID19 tests or quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated travellers. Travellers are only required to show proof of being fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated travellers from Malaysia who wish to travel to Cambodia must meet the requirements set by the Cambodian Government prior to purchasing their flights and upon arrival.

Thai AirAsia X files for bankruptcy
Low-cost, long-haul carrier Thai AirAsia X has begun preparations to initiate a rehabilitation process after its application for bankruptcy protection was accepted by Thailand’s Central Bankruptcy Court.

In a statement on May 19, it said the objective was to revamp the company’s administration process and restructure its debts, adding that the process would have no impact on passengers as operations would continue as usual.

It also said that the filing for rehabilitation would have no impact on Thai AirAsia or Asia Aviation Plc, which are separate entities with “discrete operations and routes”.

“Thai AirAsia X has entered into rehabilitation at an appropriate time with tourism recovering and the nation reopening,” Thai AirAsia X chief executive Patima Jeerapaet said.

He added that the decision to enter into rehabilitation was to enhance the administration process in the best interests of its business progress, especially in terms of managing the company’s debt which he said had been impacted over the past two years of pandemic.

He voiced confidence that the carrier’s stakeholders would support the move.

Thai AirAsia’s application for bankruptcy protection was submitted on May 17 and accepted by the Thai Central Bankruptcy Court on May 18.

It is looking to introduce flights to South Korea and Japan from June onwards, with further plans for expansion including more flight frequencies and new routes in line with demand.

the last exercise now is the rights issue and special issue, expected to be completed within the next few months. uplifting from PN17 is just a matter of time. aviation and logistics industry are recovering well. with a clean balance sheet, AAX should perform well in coming quarters.

The soon to be launched MyAirline is by Dato Goh Hwan Hua, owner of i-serve, which was raided by BNM in Nov 2021 for running a Ponzi Scheme. Dato Goh is now starting a new Ponzi Scheme by the name of an Airline to scam more victims. Some say it is money game, some say Loan Sharking.

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/malaysia-see-entry-new-ultra-lowcost-carrier-myairline

Dato Goh Hwan Hua is out to cheat more victims. He and his agents are out there scamming people now, promising 20-30% return per year if you invest RM100-500K in this new myairline scam.

Spread the word and awareness.

AirAsia loss is coz of management salary too high. When EGM or AGM,they talk like moon so high also can touching. Now blame fuel n depression of ringgit. Better said you eat n sleep also use company money.

Good time is not able to deliver results, so don't hope positive results in the bad time and rewarded high remuneration for non performers.

Posted by Ammar Roshidy > 2022-08-23 11:23 | Report Abuse

We may have positive results now, but the hole is too big to cover. AAX needs more time to cement the hole. In March, next year only the share market will see an uptrend of .10cts.
