Malaysian consumers have a role to play in the fight against inflation starting by choosing cheaper options of goods they purchase, says Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.
He said Malaysians are partly responsible for the rise in
food prices for example with analysis of inflation data
showing that a major factor behind steeper prices was the "inelasticity of demand", a situation where consumers
continue buying the same amount of goods even as prices soar.

This is good explanation - teaching people to analyze the situation on hand hence explaining why things happen they way they did. Please continue to dismantle the 'cartels' and encourage competition among businesses based on values/ quality of goods/ services. I hope such subjects are taught earlier in primary school. We need produce intelligent consumers & rakyat!
Get rid of the AP or Approved Permit that import food and other essential goods. Company like Bernas own by Syed Mokhtar monopolise the import of rice etc and should never have been granted the AP. This type of company only increase the price of food as they are the middleman contributing very little while adding costs and making a hefty profit every year.
Tabiat manusia suka makan ayam setiap hari menjadi harga ayam semakin naik. Demi kesihatan seluruh rakyat Malaysia, kurangkan makan ayam.
The proposed solution is practically applicable in an area where there is a lot of suppliers in walking distance which consumers can compare prices. What about in kampung where only 1 or 2 retailers selling chicken. Consumers has no choice but to buy at these retailer at whatever price charged or buy elsewhere at slightly lower price but borne the transportation cost…RR should address this issue too.
Consumer association must play a bigger role if govt wants to address the demand side i.e. increase awareness of the competitive prices, more aggressive on dissemination of information on prices via social media, increase enforcements on price controlled items etc etc.
Ready stockpiles. Cari mismatch, ready and standby stock untuk absorb atau dillute kenaikan itu supaya tidak keterlaluan pada tarikh atau tempoh yang dikenalpasti berlaku secara berulang sepanjang beberapa tahun ke belakang, back to back years. Kalau perlu import ready stockpiles dan import awal.
Faham betul betul. Rafizi beritahu apa tugas pengguna. Kita kena faham Pemerintah tentu ada tugas mereka sendiri. Pengguna pun ada tugas mereka juga. Pengguna kalau sudah harga (amat) tinggi sangat, kenalah kurangkan makan ayam. Tempoh masa pendek tak makan ayam pendek saja. Sila buka minda. Jangan terikut golongan extreme suka salahkan orang saja
Rafizi sebut " by right " bukan kurang makan ayam tapi KURANGKAN Beli Ayam dekat kedai itu.
We better start jadikan negara ini pengeluar makanan a.s.a.p. Sebelum krisis makanan menjadi lebih teruk. Import hanya selesaikan saingan harga buat sementara. So start the programme untuk jadikan negara pertanian atau agriculture, better than other development and we suffer from pollution and banjir kilat di mana saja. Balance development is the best!
Malaysian tend to eat more meat than vegetables because meats are tastier than vegetables. In fact, a balance diet should consist of less meat, more vegetables, this way it can keep us healthier and maintain longevity. In some countries, vegetables are more expensive than meats.
Off course not everyone wants to be a full vegetarian, neither is me. It is not easy to obtain enough protein and carbohydrates from vegetables and fruits alone, these two components of food are essential for the normal function for our bodies, among others. A balance diet is just adequate for me, just not sure about others.
