School is critical in shaping children into compassionate, empathetic individuals, preventing them from becoming harmful to others by instilling in them the understanding that "children are what they learn." If we teach children from a young age about the interconnectedness of life—how atoms and molecules cycle through all living and non-living things—we can foster a sense of unity, equality, and shared responsibility among them. This scientific knowledge reinforces the idea that all life forms, including humans, are fundamentally linked through the same processes of nature. When children internalize that every living being is part of the same system, they are less likely to view others as fundamentally different from themselves. They will be taught to see beyond physical or cultural distinctions, recognizing that the atoms that form them today could have been part of other humans, animals, or plants before. This insight can cultivate a deep respect for life, preventing them from dehumanizing others or treating people as expendable. Moreover, understanding the cycles of life, death, and renewal can make children more aware of their impact on the environment and on each other. Schools that emphasize such interconnectedness not only promote scientific literacy but also moral and ethical awareness, nurturing young minds to appreciate the value of all life and avoid destructive behavior. Through this, we instill the idea that harming others is, in essence, harming oneself, because we all share the same atoms and the same planet. By embedding this understanding into their education, children grow into adults who are less likely to engage in violence, prejudice, or exploitation, thus contributing to a more peaceful and empathetic society.
