KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia rebounded this morning from its recent losses, as fund managers took the cue from overnight gains on Wall Street and regional bourses, dealers said.

At 9.10 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,687.92, up 1.75 points after opening 0.66 point easier at 1,685.51.

HwangDBS Vickers Research in its note today said a technical rebound could be on the cards for our Malaysian bourse.

"After tumbling 101.8 points or 5.7 per cent over the past 1.5 weeks, the key FBM KLCI will probably bounce up from an oversold position.

"And continuing from where it left off yesterday, the benchmark index may recover further from a trough of 1,660.39 to climb towards the psychological support-turned-resistance level of 1,700 ahead," the research house said.

Over on Wall Street, major US equity indices rose last night, closing higher by between 0.3 per cent and 0.4 per cent as investors were keeping their eyes on the latest geopolitical developments in Syria.

The corporate front may possibly get a slight lift from relief buying today in beaten-down index stocks such as Maybank, CIMB, Ambank, Genting and AirAsia.

On Bursa Malaysia, the Finance Index added 26.91 points to 15,813.7, the Plantation Index rose 21.5 points to 8,070.58 and the Industrial Index was firmer by 2.32 points at 2,831.33

The FBM Emas Index appreciated 17.6 points to 11,681.71, the FBM100 Index edged up 15.14 points to 11,448.1 and the FBM 70 Index increased 30.93 points to 13,165.41.
