KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today on positive external conditions that boosted the buying of the local note, dealers said.
The ringgit was at 3.8800/8850 against the greenback from Monday's 3.8860/8920.
A dealer said the increase in crude oil prices to above US$42 per barrel also assisted the ringgit which traded higher against a basket of other currencies.
It rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.8843/8900 from 2.8873/8926 yesterday and improved against the Japanese yen to 3.5913/5969 from 3.5932/5997.
The local note appreciated against the euro to 4.4263/4328 from 4.4265/4349 and depreciated against the British pound to 5.5224/5303 from 5.5170/5263. -- Bernama
