Dear nicholas99;
A common way is you need to borrow shares from IB(s).
Let's say you borrow 10M shares from IB(s) by offering them 10% of interest.
Then you start to throw/short from RM6 to RM4. At RM4 you buy back 10M shares return it to IB(s) with 10% interest. Balance is your profit.
Risk is if the price shoot to RM8 then you have to muntah extra RM2 * 10M = RM20M + interest to the IB(s)

PChem has a total of 8B shares. If you or your group don't have at least 80M shares, which is very very very very hard to tekan.
A sell, B collect, C sell, D collect then C sell A collect, keep on tekan lower the price until you reach your target price buy back & return to IB(s)

Since you don't know short selling, I believe you are still new nicholas99
Being a retail investor, please please please ignore short selling.
Try your best to do research, invest when you have identified a good company. Don't bother about the short term price movement.

If you do follow some Sifu(s). If he/she ask you guys to buy a counter. Please remember to ask him/her
1. What is my safety margin?
2. What is the fair value/intrinsic value of the company
Leave group if he/she talk east/talk west/talk south/talk north without answer your question.
If he/she throw you a number
3. Can you show us your calculation? Reason being very high chances these Sifu(s) may just pick/plug number from IB's research

Source Nanyang: It was not Sarawak oil to begin with!!!
Battle for oil and gas off the coast of East Malaysia
November 14, 2024
PETALING JAYA: The battle between Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and Sarawak over who owns the oil and gas resources on the continental shelf off the coast of East Malaysia has been brewing for some time.
Section 2 of the Petroleum Development Act 1974 states that Petronas owns all ownership and exclusive rights to crude oil and natural gas, whether onshore or offshore.
Sarawak claims that it owns the resources under the Petroleum Mining Ordinance 1958. The Sarawak government also points out that the Petroleum Mining Ordinance 1958 continues to have legal force and "coexists" with the Petroleum Development Act 1974.
Sarawak pointed out that the specified continental shelf has been within its boundaries since 1954; these boundaries remained unchanged when Sarawak joined Malaysia nine years later.
The dispute is significant because it challenges Petronas' rights to explore in resource-rich areas of the South China Sea, including around the Luconia Shoal.
It is estimated that the region contains 60% of Malaysia's oil and gas resources and is also the main producer of Malaysia's liquefied natural gas (LNG), sufficient to meet 90% of Petronas' LNG exports.
Sarawak is no longer content with receiving only the 5% oil tax stipulated in the agreement and has recently demanded a larger share of oil and gas revenues.
To support its claim, Sarawak says it has sole legal rights to all resources off its coast.
Former Finance Minister Tengku Razaleigh Hamidi said it was not their oil.
He insisted that Sarawak did not have priority claim over the resources compared to Petronas, according to Free Malaysia Today.
“It is not their oil and it was not even discussed at the time (when the 1963 Malaysia Agreement was drawn up).”
Razaleigh, who is also the first chairman of Petronas, said Sarawak should continue to fulfil its responsibilities under the petroleum excise agreement.
"You can't go back and forth, you know, a deal is a deal."
Does Sarawak have a legitimate claim? Free Malaysia Today examines the legal arguments put forward by Sarawak.
Sarawak's Maritime Boundaries
Sarawak was a British colony until 1963, when it gained independence by becoming part of the Federation of Malaysia.
Sarawak claims that nine years ago during the colonial period, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom issued the Sarawak (Territorial Correction) Order in Council in 1954 in Parliament.
The Order in Council expanded the territorial waters of the colonies to include the continental shelf, including the seabed and subsoil beneath the high seas adjacent to the territorial waters of the colonies.
Sarawak Parliament Speaker Asfia said this meant that Sarawak's borders already included the continental shelf along its coast when it became part of Malaysia.
“If the federal government’s argument is that Sarawak’s continental shelf has been constitutionally acquired under the Petroleum Development Act, the federal government must compensate the Sarawak government at the market price even if it violates Article 2 of the Federal Constitution,” Asfia was quoted as saying by DayakDaily in October 2019.
Sarawak cites Article 4(3) of Part II of the Federal Constitution as the basis for its claim that the continental shelf was part of its territory when it joined Malaysia on September 16, 1963.
Sarawak also pointed out that Article 2(b) of the Federal Constitution stipulates that any law changing the state boundaries must have the consent of the state assembly and the Conference of Rulers.
Sarawak claims that since these two conditions are not met, any change to its boundaries is unconstitutional and invalid.
This brings up the question of what is a “continental shelf”.
Maritime lawyer Liu Defa (transliteration of the name) believes that this is precisely the problem with Sarawak’s legal status.
“Sarawak claims that the 1954 Order in Council extended its boundaries to include the continental shelf, which it said was 200 nautical miles from the edge of its territorial waters.
The Order in Council itself did not specify the length of 200 nautical miles because the concept of the continental shelf had not yet been resolved when the Order was issued.
Liu Defa said the term was only properly defined in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), an international treaty that established a comprehensive legal framework for all ocean and maritime activities.
Malaysia signed the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982 and ratified it four years later.
Liu Defa said that after the 1969 state of emergency was lifted in December 2011, Parliament passed the Territorial Sea Act 2012, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea officially became part of Malaysian law.
He said Sarawak’s claim that the Territorial Sea Ordinance 2012 was passed to correct a boundary error or that the Ordinance was unconstitutional as it was inconsistent with Article 2(2) of the Federal Constitution was baseless.
“Any legislation passed by Parliament into law must be considered valid and enforceable unless struck down by the courts.
“The party claiming that the law is unconstitutional, in this case Sarawak, can challenge it in the Federal Court.”
He pointed out that the 200-nautical-mile limit stipulated by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea was in the interest of Malaysia as Malaysia is a signatory to the international treaty.
“The continental shelf rights along all coasts of Malaysia, including Sarawak, belong to the entire country.
“On this basis, the Petroleum Development Act and the Territorial Sea Act 2012 do not infringe upon Sarawak’s boundaries as claimed and are good laws.
There are many issues involving historical boundaries, state rights and federal powers, and any dispute between Petronas and Sarawak may not be resolved unless the court makes a final ruling.

Abang jahari claims in regards to ordinance 1958
https://youtu.be/Xo1BhY3oOBA?si=o1jeX8QamJ7GSONM
Malaysian gov is bodoh!! Once Sarawak joined Malaysia, Malaysian law will be applied lah. Why still refer to British colonial era law? I believe it will be render useless it court, further more Petronas law in 1974 should superceed the older law because it is the latest law passed across the land and sea of Malaysia.
A court battle will be easily won by Petronas.
Same thing with Sulu claims, all British law should be thrown out the court, ever since the formation of Malaysia, Malaysia is a sovereign nation, any dispute of claims will be met with war only.
This is like Hongkongers want to remain using British colonial law after Hongkong has been returned to China. It is a joke really!!!
If older British Law still applies, this means the British still owns Malaysia and Singapore, Melaka, Pulau Pinang and Singapore will need to be return to British. 🤣
4 days ago
There is no need for wars and ICC court.
The parliament 2/3 majority is enough to crush all Sarawak claims and subsequent actions. I hope Anwar is not that low IQ to allocate more seats for Sabah and Sarawak. BN must take action stop it from happening if PH government has been duped into doing so.
Abang Joe very smart, he is well aware that the parliament 2/3 majority is the ultimate threat to his grand chess plan. The PH government must made aware of this. Currently they are oblivion about this, busy splitting hairs about cutting subsidies, ignoring the backyard on fire.
Abang Joe is a very dangerous man, ought to be label as enemy of the state.

Nothing can stop Abang Joe once 2/3 majority is no more. Then GG, sayonara!! Good bye Malaysia.

Hoho emmm.. this also need to be clarified n verified:
What is the royalty of Sarawak oil?
From 5% of gross value previously, the state's oil royalty now includes 20% of net profit from its oil-producing activities. Sarawak's relationship with Petronas has not been on the best of terms since the state started looking at reclaiming its rights over its hydrocarbon deposits under MA63.

涉及历史边界、州权利和联邦权力的问题很多,除非法庭做出最终裁决,否则可能无法解决国油与砂拉越之间的任何争端。
There are many issues involving historical boundaries, state rights and federal powers, and any dispute between Petronas and Sarawak may not be resolved unless the court makes a final ruling.

I have been tracking EPF buying behavior for past years vs now and came to the observation below.
% of unit held lingers around 6% to 9% ( units 500mil to 800mill ) when price are high indicating disposal for profit. For situations were price are low % held around 10% to 11% ( units 800 mill to 900mill ). From Sept 2024 to current EPF has been both disposing and acquiring keeping 943mill unit to 929mill units latest. During this period it has been dump , acquire and dump with amount 800k units to 100k units transacted each time ( smaller amounts are also observed). My conclusion EPF is not heavily disposing for a reason. They are still keeping their stake of 11% with PetChem. Rebound expected ???, could be but will take time maybe. I would also like to concur the crashes for PetChem is always with a comeback. For drops before this, recovery has been proved in 2015, 2019. For 2024 combined issue of global uncertainty and hiccups with Petros. My personal outlook, I’m positive on long run. If I’m wrong I may lose some money, still bearable.
I would closely monitor any possible reversal should active buying starts from the big guys. Look closely in fund flow reports for possible + movement from foreign holders. For last week from them it was negative.

Today PCHEM breached both support level :
Support 1 at RM 4.74
Support 2 at RM 4.63
Anyway, Mabel starts to re-enter PCHEM after it breaches both support level at RM 4.53 conservatively as the QR is expected to be announced on the 28th November.
With PCHEM EPS of MYR 0.25 (as per the latest data) and the PE ratio of 19.02:
PCHEM Fair Value Price = 0.25 ×19.02 = RM 4.76
This means that Mabel has collected at a good price given today’s closing prices is MYR 4.55 which is slightly under the above fair value...
Hope for the best!

The key to burying Sulu claim for good lies in Brunei, says SAPP's Yong
https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/11/15/the-key-to-burying-sulu-claim-for-good-lies-in-brunei-says-sapp039s-yong
Malaysian leaders have the IQ of a chicken, thanks for reminding Sultan of Brunei we owe him Sabah.
All this overbeck agreements should be render invalid ever since the formation Malaysia. Sulu claims can be shot down by simple counter sue to them for the crime of invasion of Malaysia, go seek damages for USD 1 trillion dollars from Sulu. Ask them to pay up the damages first then we'll continue paying back the grant to them based on the Sulu-Overbeck rate.
The British - Malaysia agreement should superceed all older agreements. Plain and simple. Does the Malaysian agreement stated that we need to pay the Sulu or Brunei? UN recognize Malaysia as a sovereign nation. Sulu is a non-existence empire as of today.
We can also argue and request DNA evidence of them being the heir of the Sultan of Sulu. Good luck proving that. If Malaysia can push the arguement that the Sulu is not existence today and that we made the mistake of paying the grant to the fake Sulu heir all this while.

I want to point out that PH are useless, only filled with low IQ trouble makers and non problem solvers.
All this critical dispute issues involving Sarawak and Sulu are settled by BN people. PH people just busy splitting hairs and creating petty problems that do no good for Malaysia.

Looks low but if you have all available info like EPF you will also dump sell at cheap price.
Trump just told China if they buy 1 barrel of oil from Iran, all China businesses will be shut down in US, no operating license will be issued.
China already agreed to Trump demands.
Oil price will rise. PChem uses oil to fire up their products. Other countries will use Fusion Power. Oil power is the loser. PChem cannot compete.
Regional overcapacity.
To EPF it's a SELL 😁

The Edge 05-11-2024 Part news:
'One market watcher said anticipation is rising that PetChem might be issuing a negative profit guidance prior to the release of its results later this month.
This comes amid expected foreign exchange losses and a step up in depreciation charges at PetChem’s Pengerang facilities, he said.'
Is there a possibility of a bad QR? Will share price drop further after QR?
