The kangkung craze sparked off by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has prompted a coffee outlet to offer its customers a bizarre deal.
In a posting on its Facebook page, Artisan Coffee said that customers can pay for a cup of black coffee with the vegetable tomorrow.
"Since kangkung took the world by storm recently, we thought this low profile 'sayur' (vegetable) deserves some sort of recognition," read the message.
Artisan Coffee has outlets in Section 13, Petaling Jaya and Bangsar Village, Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, Najib's Facebook page was also littered with kangkung-related comments.
Some posted videos, others news links, and there were also those who responded to the premier's trademark greeting of "Salam1Malaysia" with "Salam 1Kangkung".
The kangkung issue had also garnered international attention with BBC and the Singapore Straits Times picking up the matter.
During a recent speech, Najib had remarked that the price of kangkung had dipped but his government was not credited for this.
The prime minister said this in relation to the criticism against his administration over a slew of price hikes.
However, observers felt that his kangkung remark was in poor taste and came across as belittling the hardship of the people.
