Oldtown Berhad posted core earnings of RM24.4m for 3Q'17, doubling y-o-y as the group ramps up its expansion in China and taps into regional demand. An election is expected to be called this year, which could also bring about election goodies or handouts, providing a boost for the consumer sector.

I heard they have outlets in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and doing well. The nouveau riche urban Chinese are changing their preferences from tea to coffee. they are also more likely to try new cuisines. A number of chains from Taiwan and the mainland established themselves 20 years ago serving Chinese style coffee house fare. They aren't doing too badly either.

with different taste bud of the China people, it will b interesting if oldtown can make it there.. unless they localised the menu to suit the chinese.. but one thing though, they r smart to penetrate south china first, bcos northern china will b a different ball game.. if old town can survive n even manage to expand their presence to north china, i salute them..
