Fire Breaks Out at Hextar Healthcare's Factory in Ipoh, No Casualties Reported

KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): Glove maker Hextar Healthcare Bhd (KL:HEXCARE), formerly known as Rubberex Corp (M) Bhd, has announced that a fire occurred at its factory in Bercham Industrial Park, Ipoh, Perak, on Monday (June 17), with no casualties reported.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Thursday, Hextar Healthcare said the operations affected are in relation to two of the group's household/industrial glove production lines. Its management has lodged a report with the police and the insurance company on the incident.

At this juncture, Hextar Healthcare said it has yet to ascertain the full financial and operational impact due to damage by the fire. "However, the group has in place adequate insurance on its assets and consequential business losses."

It added that it will make further announcements on the actual losses upon completion of the investigation and assessment by the group’s internal team, insurance company and the authorities concerned.

Hextar Healthcare’s headquarters are in Ipoh, while its manufacturing plants are located in both Ipoh and Subang Jaya, Selangor.

Hextar Healthcare shares closed down 0.5 sen or 2.13% at 23 sen on Thursday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM251.43 million. Its share price has fallen 20.7% so far this year.
