KUALA LUMPUR: Its business as usual for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
However, he was vague in explaining his position as the Finance Minister, as well as others in the Cabinet, following the resignation of prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"The AG (Attorney-General) will come out with a statement. I think it's very clear about the status of our Malaysian government.
"We have also received a message from the Cabinet secretary that everything is as usual. But I think, let's wait for AG's statement," he said when asked about the status of the PH government and its ministers.
Lim was referring to a tweet by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad on the Covid-19 update, saying that it would be his last Twitter post as a minister.
"I think the prime minister's post is a much more interesting topic now," he said in dodging questions by reporters to clarify his ministerial position.
He said he rejected the notion that PH no longer has the majority to rule the government, saying that it could deliver the numbers.
"That can be tested in the Parliament when we sit again in March. Parties will hold press conferences and why don't we wait for this to unfold.
"We will discuss this in detail either tomorrow or in the next few days.
"No, Pakatan is not dissolved. I'm speaking on behalf of DAP. As for PH, wait for tonight (PH Presidential Council emergency meeting at PKR headquarters).
"You have a prime minister who doesn't want to work with a party that we defeated in the last general election for obvious reasons. This the prime minister that rejected a move that undermined the democratically-elected government.
"So, we feel that he (Dr Mahathir) should be allowed to continue to finish what he intended to do, as decided in the PH presidential council meeting on Friday. That is the whole PH council including Bersatu (which has today announced departure from PH).
"He (Dr Mahathir) wants to host Apec and finish his duties. I think we should stick to (last) Friday's PH presidential council meeting.
"The fact that this was undermined and sabotaged caused him to feel that, in principle, he has to resign as he does not want to work with Umno. Whereas Bersatu feels otherwise,” Lim said.
