“IF YOU’RE truly a macho male, then stop leveraging government machinery in the run-up to the Sungai Bakap by-election. Otherwise, you’re just a transvestite (pondan)”.

Such is the challenge made by Penang PAS Commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusof to the state Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

This came about after the often-heard abuse of government machinery and offering of political candy by Pakatan Harapan (PH) to the electorate prior to polling in order to gain votes.

“We have seen this practice going on since the six state elections in August 2023 and throughout the series of by-elections that took place with the most recent being the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election on May 11,” PAS Youth pointed out in a Facebook post.

“However, this dirty game did not stop as after the KKB by-election for PH has again shamelessly sprinkled more political candy in Sungai Bakap with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim having announced a donation of RM290,000 to nine mosques and 20 surau within the Sungai Bakap state constituency on June 11.”

In addition to the mosques/surau, PAS Youth claimed that Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has further announced an allocation of almost RM18 mil to implement 10 public infrastructure development projects in the vicinity of Seberang Perai.

The came about after the Teluk Intan MP and DAP vice-chairman officiated a basketball court project in conjunction with the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s Sentuhan Kasih exploration series to Penang in Sungai Udang six days ago.

“This matter is very unhealthy because it has polluted the democratic system that has long been practiced in this country. If the unity government really cherishes good governance practice, then answer the challenge thrown by the Penang PAS Commissioner by behaving like a macho male,” asserted PAS Youth.

“Don’t just crow like a chicken, chanting that the government is practicing good governance yet still playing the dirty game.”

Added PAS Youth: “People today are not blind. They see with their own eyes how the government has failed to adhere to concept of transparent governance. Make this Sungai Bakap by-election a signal that the people reject a corrupt government and want a clean government.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) will be fielding PAS Nibong Tebal vice-chairman Abidin Ismail who was also the special officer of the late Sungai Bakap assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff as its candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election slated for July 6.

The Sungai Bakap state seat fell vacant following the death of its PAS ncumbent Nor Zamri on May 24 at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital Seberang Jaya (HSJ). The 56-year-old first term state assemblyman has been admitted to the hospital due to an inflammation of the stomach.

Abidin, 56, will be facing PH candidate from PKR Dr Joohari Ariffin with nomination for the polls fixed for this Saturday (June 22). - June 19, 2024
