KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is set to showcase its strengths and spread the message of unity and prosperity during its participation in the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, says Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that 2025 is a significant and exciting year for Malaysia, as it will not only be a key participant at the expo but also assume the role of Asean chair.

"I believe our message for greater unity and prosperity as an Asean family can be amplified through Malaysia’s participation at the expo.

"There are core similarities between these two platforms, as both call for collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for a better future," he said in his speech at the launch of Malaysia's participation in the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan on Thursday (June 20).

The World Expo, held every five years, will feature showcases by over 160 participating countries for six months, from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

During this period, over 28 million visitors are expected to visit the expo in Yumeshima island, Osaka.

Fadillah added that the expo is not merely an exposition but a global stage where nations can showcase their respective ideas, innovations, and aspirations for a more dynamic and better future.

"Malaysia's narrative is a story of a nation where people of different ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds live together in harmony.

"It is a story of unity in diversity, a testament to our ability to find strength in our differences. It is a story we’re proud to share with the world under the theme 'Weaving a Future in Harmony'," Fadillah explained.
