Working Experience
Mr. Sendut has around 34 years of finance and business experience across multiple industries, approximately 24 years of which were spent mostly in C-Suite and senior management roles. Amongst others, he has served in companies involved in motor and heavy equipment distribution, manufacturing, plantations, corporate strategy, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. His experiences include: Mr Sendut served as an auditor with Price Waterhouse London (1982-1986). Thereafter he joined Shell Companies in Malaysia (1986-1992) in various senior finance roles in downstream petroleum trading, petrochemicals, and the MLNG2 project. He left in 1993 to take on the role as Group Finance Director for CarnaudMetalbox Malaysia. In 1996, he joined the Sime Darby Group of Companies where he has served as Group Finance Director, Tractors Malaysia (Holding) Berhad; Group Finance Director, Sime Plantations (Consolidated Plantations Berhad); Project Director Northern Corridor (NCER) and as Senior Vice President Sime Darby Global Shared Services. In 2009, Mr Sendut joined BHP Billition as Global Head, Shared Services. In 2010, Mr Sendut returned to Sime Darby as Executive Vice President for Group Strategy, Innovation and Investor relations. In 2015 Mr Sendut was appointed Managing Director, Energy and Utilities Division (Non China) until he retired in 2016. In 2016, Mr Sendut was appointed as an Independent Director for Hong Leong Islamic Bank. He is also a member of the Audit and Risk Committee, Nomination Committee and Remuneration Committee. Mr Sendut also sits on the Board of Trustees for Cancer Research Malaysia (since 2011).
