@kinuxian betul
I don't understand why some people trade shares like trade at pasar malam nego price sampai mau cari gaduh lol

@pejatrade click the stock name
Go the "Discosures" tab
Click "Entitlements"
See history of past dividends
In this case, MMC always declare dividends on April and pay by June
As long as you own the shares before EX date, you get the dividends

tatwaiwong u think we so powerful can goreng it up at will meh
For me I buy in just for the 5.0% dividend yield
Any capital gains is a bonus. I'm a dividend-focused investor
2020-10-27 10:31 | Report Abuse
I started having MMC in my shopping list when it traded at 68 sen
But that time my capital all deployed elsewhere so no buy in
2020-10-27 10:20 | Report Abuse
@kinuxian I already bought in
P/E below 10 times
Dividend yield at least 5.0%
Owning ports, Gas Malaysia, Malakoff, Kontena Nasional Berhad etc
Good enough!

I've noticed this stock for a long time for its dividend and low P/E
The only thing stopping me from buying was its super high gearing

During 2008 market crash, I first started learning about stock market. Freaked out when lost about 10%, swore never to touch stock market again.
Now in 2020, I'm proud that I did not freak out when Genting and TNB gave me -15% paper loss lol
Other stocks in my portfolio making money, so overall still okay. Janji Genting and TNB keep pay me dividends

Oi don't privatise, I love my Ta Ann shares!
2020-10-15 09:29 | Report Abuse
Of course la, to Genting, sustainability is very important. Don't forget their assets are located on a hilltop. If they do not manage the environment properly, soil erosion will destroy everything overnight.

That's why I don't jump and scream even when Genting and TNB gave me paper loss 14% lol
I assess my investment on PORTFOLIO basis. Surely there will be 1 or 2 losers at any time

@positive_investor my UT is for foreign markets exposure
I just checked, MSCI World index returned 9.51% annualised over the past 10 years
Lost a bit la
My Bursa self-managed portfolio I returned 20.1% p.a. :)
2020-10-14 15:27 | Report Abuse
Most of those who complained that they lose money in UTs are those who bought in and then do nothing (no regular review, monitor and rebalancing) or those who relied too much on the (unreliable) agent.

I'm just being humble about my own investing abilities - I don't think that I can always beat the market on my own, and sometimes I may lack direction, time or idea as to what to buy.
At such times I can just sit back and let my unit trust funds deliver the returns for me. My track record from unit trust from 2008 til now is 8.3% compounded p.a. Beats EPF, good enough for me.
2020-10-14 14:25 | Report Abuse
@Stockisnotfun I use unit trust to access/have exposure to foreign markets like US/Europe/Japan and Asia ex Japan markets
Good as a portfolio balancing tool, as many times when Malaysia stocks go down, rest of the word provides great returns!

Yala @KiwiKing
Now may not be the bottom, but is certainly NEAR bottom
Those of us who bought in certainly know that Genting is undervalued now
So upside is certainly there, only we dunno WHEN
2020-10-14 13:28 | Report Abuse
@Stockisnotfun you even more gung-ho than I lol
Genting is 15% of my Bursa portfolio, 11% of my total investment portfolio, as I do have some unit trust funds too.
I do keep track of my portfolio returns, past 12 months my returns are
Total: +2.06%
Dividend return: 3.06%
Paper loss: -1.00%

But
Q1: Are you sure that you have better alternatives that sure to earn money?
Q2: How sure are you that you will jump back in time for recovery?

@Steady Punpipi but buying Genting Berhad also has a cons - holding company discount
And the negativity over one subsidiary/business segment may cause the holding company share value to be punished beyond reasonable lol

@limkokthye I prefer to TFK using Karex Berhad products
Stock: [MMCCORP]: MMC CORPORATION BHD

@kinuxian yea I noted the special dividend. But TNB management has guided that they plan to distribute more back to shareholders before they revert back to the usual dividend policy. Something they call "capital management".
