@Ibelieve I'm not sure how others think about this, but I think this way, though I'm still a bit reserved that there is other scenario, but let's see this, using my name and glovefinish as participants

Taken from blog
Step 1: Participant A (Ibelieve) borrows shares of Company Z (TG) from Participant B (glovefinish). Note that this means that Participant B must own the shares in order for this to happen. Participant A pays a fee to Participant B for every day (for instance) for which he/she holds the borrowed shares.

Step 2: Ibelieve sells the shares on the open market, expecting/hoping that the price will fall.

Step 3: After the price falls, Ibelieve buys back the shares, and returns them to glovefinish. The short position is closed.

Let's say glovefinish owns TG 10mil shares at average price RM3.50, Ibelieve borrows 5mil shares from her during market price RM7.00.

Ibelieve shortsells using the 5mil shares at various price range and succeeds to sell/cause the price to plunge to RM3.50, so that he can make a 100% gain from buyback to close the position.

And during that course Ibelieve evil-talked badly with his I-3 gangs, other sifus, funds and all beneficial media about TG so that most players would dump or stay out of way, it caused TG reputation and fundamental jeopardized or damaged permanently. Ibelieve returned the 5mil shares to glovefinish after victorious shortsell, what does glovefinish feel holding her 10mil shares with price permanently stalls at RM3.50 or sink even lower?

My shallow example was drafted exactly according to the scenario the fear-mongers have concretely instilled, especially glovefinish who said we're gonna live with our shares at below rm3.50 for another 100 years. However, if TG price surges to RM14.00, that shall be a different story for shortsell to start from.

Bro Ibelieve...looks like you are doing a PHD thesis on RSS. Personally, I would only loan my shares if the borrower promise to pay me the difference between the price at loan date and the price he return the shares ( if it's lower), and plus other charges to be agreed on. Likely the borrower will push down and then back up before returning the shares. Just my 2cents.

@omione Just my wild conjecture. The more infectious covid variants in the UK, SA, and now the US may be the results of vaccines. Notice that these more infectious variants came about following mass trials of vaccines. If proven right, Rm40 will be a foregone conclusion.

Good observation omione. I have mentioned this too previously too. This is a very likely scenario, coz the latest variant has focused much if its mutations on the protein spikes. That's why the experts have shown much concern that this virus is capable of 17 mutations at one time, changing 14 genome letters and dropping 3 letters altogether. They have not seen such viral mutation behavior before. We may be facing something far worse than expected. If proven right and Supermax hit RM 40, it still doesn't bring peace and happiness, but only a sad consolation :(

Look at the Spanish Flu chart, the 2nd wave is many times bigger than the 1st wave. The 2nd wave may last up to 6 months easily, and the death numbers will be many times more than the first. My estimate is around 20 million death in 2nd wave, due to overcrowded healthcare facilities globally.

The problem is always more real when it hits home. Just early last month, most analysts were still saying the pandemic is over and glove is finished and gloves supernormal profit cycle is finished. Game over. But today, it hits home that we are staring at Pandemic 2.0 which without doubt will be many times worse than Pandemic 1.0. So not only glove is not over but the demand will be even more intensified and although supernormal profit cycle is over, we are now moving into ultranormal profit cycle.

Bro Agjl... I m not sure if this is the right time to sell with the QR release in less than 2 weeks. But then again there is possibility of some correction happening on Monday. I'm holding tight tight going forward as the Pandemic 2.0 is sweeping the world relentlessly. As of today, there is no more doubt in the big funds mind that the pandemic 2.0 is getting out of control and vaccines deployment has been over rated. It will take at least 2-3 more years to see some positive results. Meanwhile, demand for gloves will only intensify. Supermax EPS for FY21 and FY22 will be unmatched in KLSE.

I was sure that we would see a repeat of the Spanish Flu scenario where the 2nd wave will be more devastating and deadly. That is the biological nature of such pandemic. We expected vaccines won't be a quick solution , but will take time. We have been saying the best performer in KLSE 2021 is going to be Supermax. Today's performance is giving us some trailer of what's ahead. Supermax will outshine all the rest in EPS and dividend payment , aggressive global expansion plan, ground breaking of Delaware facility soon and SGX dual listing. Next QR we should expect more positive surprises from the management.

Maybe initially Stanley wanted to keep the treasury shares to issue as future share dividends. Maybe by cancelling he changed his mind and decide to issue cash dividend instead. Hopefully he wants to match with TG boss and give 50% of PAT. With share cancellation EPS will increase. Assume PAT is 1.5B , then new EPS is 0.56 , 50% dividend = 28c/qtr x 4 = 1.12 for next 4 qtrs.

If the new cases explode to 4-5k cases per day in the next 2-3 weeks, you will see more deaths due to hospitals ICU beds shortage, and more ppl will die and only total lockdown will flatten the curve to give time the hospitals to treat the severe cases. Otherwise even non-Covid emergency cases will also die. Imagine you get a heart attack and go to the hospital, and hospital rejects you bcos not enough ICU and hospital beds. The Health DG oredi said for non severe cases, no need to go hospitals, just stay at home and quarantine. The hospitals oredi coming to stress points, having difficulty to cope with increasing cases. If the new cases were to explode and severe cases increase further too, then you will start to see more deaths , not just from Covid cases but non-Covid emergency cases will die too, coz hospital ICU beds will be overwhelmed. At that point, the Gov't would hv no choice but to total lockdown to prevent more deaths.

With so much SBB both on corporate level and private capacity by TSLWC, one must wonder is there a real reason behind for them to spend so much money to increase the holding stake? And when J MOrgan lower TP to 3.50. that send another round of SBB on personal level. It looks like TSLWC may be anticipating some potential hostile take over of TG, after all at 4.0 TG market cap is around RM 32B or USD 8B, a very cheap take over by any big funds or conglomerate. Any major international healthcare conglomerate could easily take over Super or TG with around USD 10B-15B each, and they will own the biggest glove manufacturers in the world. Harta is a bit more pricey. So either TG or Super are cheap candidates prime for hostile takeover now. They can even offer MGO for either at much higher price such as RM 10-12/ share and every retailer will say yes.

By all means you can continue to be exuberant about Super fundamentals. There is no doubt Super has a great growth story. But I think once the price broke the RM 6 support, we need to sit back to review our assumption of Mr Market thinking. Sit back to look at the very big picture. Try to see what is the story with return of short selling too.

Yesterday I said I started to agree with glovefinish because I saw the same direction, and since it was not far from here, no harm just wait. I thought I could celebrate today with glovefinish and everyone else, but the scenario this morning going the opposite direction and I was shock also but I wasn't moved, many were really FOMO. I hope I was the only left-out, but thing turned upside down evening. I still sincerely hope I'm the only one left-out tomorrow.

However, seeing some people returning here and claiming trapped this soon, cursing for being misled, though we know whose fault and we cannot blame other for sharing their view, and though they cannot blame other except themselves for going in, I find it sad to share positive qi here in the end.

Whoever not feeling good to be with Supermax can just sell tomorrow and stop cursing. After all, your sale won't make an impact if it means to go up, but promise you don't come back here cursing for the fickle. For the next 6 months we will wallow in the global 2nd wave of the pandemic. After that there may be a short break of flattening curves as more ppl are vaccinated. But as complacency sets in later, as more ppl are vaccinated, I believe we will see the coming of the 3rd wave by the next winter.
