I think Genting will trade sideways or slightly downwards until the Alzheimer's conference announcement.
And we shall see what they announce at the conference.

I wish I could trade unlisted Taurx shares...
2022-06-04 17:38 | Report Abuse
To be perfectly frank, this one impossible to value. Because, as noted by some, this is research into medical treatment that can be anywhere from slightly effective to very effective. Any estimates saying 700m to 2.5b is just rubbish.
Worst case scenario: treatment is ineffective and no license given, entire investment write off worthless.
Best Case scenario: HMTM can actually halt Alzheimer's... this would make it worth hundreds of billions.
Middle Ground: Somewhat effective, becomes a competitor for Biogen's Aduhelm, which has not been getting very good sales figures, because it's very expensive and not very effective. Value: Dunno wor.
...
The only ones who know how to value Taurx would be the ones who have their hands on the data from the trials.

Potential TauRx valuations. In a Dec 2015 WSJ article, there were talks of a USD15bn TauRx IPO on the Nasdaq. However, the IPO never materialised after TauRx’ Phase 3 trials failed in 2016. According to DealStreetAsia, in Mar 2018, TauRx claimed a USD2.5bn valuation. In May 2021, its COO claimed that TauRx had secured investment of c.USD700m to fund its research. Assuming a valuation range of USD700m-2.5bn, GENT’s 20.3% stake could be worth 16-58 sen per share, representing a 3-9% enhancement to our current TP."

ah, they are valuing taurx at "a valuation range of US$700mil-2.5bil, Genting’s 20.3% stake could be worth 16-58 sen per share"
that's a lot lower than I expected.

@cktay
"has actually a halted progression of the disease "
HOLD ON.
There's a lot of difference between "significant slowdown of disease progression" and " halted progression of the disease"
errr... but technically, halting it does count as a significant slowdown. ... but that's a MAJOR understatement!!!
Do you have a link to that? Want to watch/view/read it myself. Whoa!
Of course, he's not a qualified medical researcher so maybe he is mistaken or something. Got to double check and triple check.
But if it's really HALT progression of Alzheimer's, this is basically the biggest miracle drug of the decade.... no wait, actually covid vaccines already took that accolade. (but covid vaccines are way WAY cheaper)
anyhow, we need to check that statement! If it can really "halt" alzheimer's, then this is going to be HUGE

I'm waiting to see what is announced at the convention. "substantial" is quite subjective.
Also, wait and see how they plan to unlock Taurx value, maybe an IPO or M&A or will they run it themselves?

@DestinyL .... I just checked (in my video!) ... 2016 genting bhd had a 20.7% stake, which has been diluted to... 20.3% stake now.
So, slight dilution, but not much.

With their claimed cash in bank of 290m, why would they NEED to default on 29m payment? ... that's why people are asking if the 290m is actually there or not...
2021-12-24 20:17 | Report Abuse
@pinky well, you don't have any choice other than waiting it out, since the shares are suspended ANYWAY...
... BTW, even if Serba Dinamik is found not guilty of doing anything wrong... they are still a cash strapped company that has defaulted on their bond payment. So, even if they didn't do anything wrong, So, they might end up going into liquidation ANYWAY.
Personally, I find it suspicious that a company that supposedly is holding so much cash (RM290m) cannot even afford to pay off their RM29m bond coupon, triggering a default.

@sharefisher keep in mind how long it took for TG to fall to it's current levels. And it's been up and down, but overall down. Genting has also been up and down, but overall up.
... I'm looking forward to the next QR... unlike the previous QR (which Genting Highlands was shut for that entire quarter), this upcoming QR will show what happens when it's opened and packed.
...
Also, looking at the videos of the ridiculous crowds in Genting, I'm actually nervous that one of these days they will declare a cluster there.

@ontime: they are blaming the cause of death on Delta. That's what the data is showing anyway, that the covid deaths occuring in South Africa now are mainly due to Delta. ... so, you think that people died from omicron but the doctors are lying and blaming it on Delta? ... possible, but I don't think that's what is happening. (shrugs)
For now, not enough data. But my best guess is that omicron is EXTREMELY transmissable... it's only been around a month and it's already displaced Delta as the primary strain in South Africa, at around 3:1 ratio of new cases.. ... meaning, that, omicron is probably 10 times more transmissable than Delta, which itself is considered much more transmissable than normal covid.. It's most likely going to spread like wildfire.
So, we shall soon see for ourselves whether it is really "super mild"... cross our fingers and hope that is indeed the case. ... but I'm pretty sure that omicron is going to turn out to be a lot milder than Delta, and probably a lot milder than base covid...

Still waiting for the big "first death due to omicron recorded" ... it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that eventually someone will die because of omicron, and markets will panic because of it. (probably). Even though, considering omicron was first detected 9th November, the fact that 3 weeks have passed, thousands have been infected, but there's been 0 deaths so far, should reassure the markets, there will probably still be a knee jerk reaction when the first death occurs.

A video discussing some articles that say that Omicron does not reduce oxygen levels and no one has died from it (so far).
Of course, we have to wait for official results to come out.
But if it is true... then omicron mania will be over before the end of December. Because, if omicron does not even reduce your oxygen levels, then it's probably (PROBABLY) no big deal.

Put it this way. The boss, Billy Ong, could have taken CASH when he sold his companies to OCR... but he didn't. He took his payment fully in OCR shares, at the price of 19c. ... I normally expect them to take partial share partial cash, but, no, he is taking the entire amount in OCR shares. ... honestly, I'm not sure why he didn't ask for a lower conversion price, since OCR is went way below 19c, but, eh, whatever. ... The Private Placement will be at around 15c though, so that's a bit worrying.
@birkincollector, it's not just any creditors. Essentially that debt settlement was ALSO to the boss, Billy Ong.
Normally, I HATE Related Party Transactions, but in this case, I voted YES at the EGM for those transactions. But if Billy wants to inject assets into OCR and he is taking OCR shares at 19c instead of cash for it, that sounds good to me...
PS: (I voted no for the 4th one because PP at 15c feels too low to me)

The state is expected to choose at least two groups to begin online sports betting: the consortium of Bally Bet, BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel; as well as the group of Caesars, Wynn Interactive, Empire Resorts, PointsBet and Rush Street Interactive, according to people familiar with the matter.
One of the remaining questions is whether New York awards a license to a third group — the team of rapper Jay-Z, Fanatics and Barstool’s Penn Sports Interactive.

@1invest1 Actually, I like that Genting bosses are not putting all their eggs in one basket. (unlike gloves). Instead of pumping everything into more and more casinos, Genting diversified into Hotels, Theme Park (admittedly both are casino linked), plantation, medical research, etc.
Heck, even RWLV is supposedly going to make most of it's revenue from non-gaming. (I'll believe it when I see it)
I'm confused what's going on with GenHK though... instead of genting bailing out GHK, genting bought assets from them at severely discounted price? ... I have no idea what the actual market price for that thing is though, so maybe it wasn't such a huge discount after all. hmm.

The reason is simple. As Phillip said, it's inventories. As a steel trader, AYS bought steel when it was rising, and they sold steel products at a much higher price than their cost, due to the lag time between purchasing and selling. Now the REVERSE will happen, and AYS is likely to make loases, as they bought their current steel inventories at inflated prices, but will have to sell at depressed price.

@sharefisher, I don't know if skyworlds will be open to public then. Actually, I'm not sure what's going on. It looks like the place is not fully opened up, but there are people on rides and buying food. When I went to FB page, they said invitation only, but wiki page says open to public.
@choysun, no idea, I just went to youtube and searched for genting skyworlds, and looked for anything posted in November.
... what REALLY confuses me, is, as the wiki says "it was opened to public but with no announcement by Genting" ... yeah, I'm surprised that there has been no announcement. huh.

Wait and watch. After a while, KYY will say "I already sold all my steel stocks for a good profit. Please disregard everything I said earlier, steel stocks are bad after all"
2021-11-01 20:29 | Report Abuse
Again, respect. Full transparency, the day's paper loss of 1.37m is clearly shown. Phillip also updates his transactions as he does them, so no "hindsight 20/20" like KYY and how he says stuff like "oh, I sold my gloves weeks ago while the price was still high!" ... Phillip has the dates, volumes and prices for his transactions on Serba, And he doesn't delete his comments or say "please disregard all my previous posts" (cough cough KYY)
As I said though, I don't agree with Phillip's actual investment picks though! For me, I won't buy any glove stocks until I feel that glove ASPs are starting to bottom out, and I don't think that time is anywhere near yet. I could be wrong, but that's my theory: "the best time to buy glove stocks will be when glove profits are at their lowest, and glove stocks are at the cheapest"
I feel that's what he did for petchem... he bought it when no one wanted O&G stocks, and got it for dirt cheap. That was brilliant.

Well, if Genting Bhd returns to making over 4b and pays cukai makmur, what do you think Genting price will be, lol?
2021-10-31 16:37 | Report Abuse
SSP: Gaming tax is actually a much bigger problem, and I'm glad that we had cukai makmur instead of an increase in gaming tax. "The casino duties have been raised to 35 per cent from 25 per cent of gross gaming revenue. Further, gaming machine duties was increased from 20 per cent to 30 per cent on gross collection." -> those are on GROSS COLLECTION, not the profits Which means those still apply even if Genting is loss making. ... same for the RM150m casino license fee.
So it's not like Genting doesn't have some problems, but fortunatly Cukai Makmur isn't one of the problems.
I was advised that Genting Plantations is probably going to be hit by Cukai Makmur, but, as I said, that's cause their upcoming tax year will have a fat juicy profit, so they're still better off anyhow!
