Yes, some short term pain is unavoidable but I have a sneaky suspicion that this hype of US growth is overly optimistic right now and excessively priced in. Things are rarely so straight forward.

Also this selldown is well cushioned i think as there is some buying interest at the same time. I think other times, we would be in 2.30s by now.

This is just a natural flow of funds based on short term news and sentiment. I like to ride volatility very much so it doesn't bother me. My long term opinion has not changed and its not easily changeable. As long as cheap oil stays and load factors and yields are good then I'm not too worried about forex movements.

After 3rd qtr results, AA waiting for AAC announcement to trend upward. Now, crude oil deal and capital flow is still the sentiment.

No matter what, its a matter of time now. You can debate all you want about AAC disposal and profit contributions etc etc but special divvy is cash in hand. That's what market loves..

If oil continue to rise and AAC no news then i'm prepared to load up more at 2.50s.

supermx2, my opinion is oil negativity is priced in now if prices stay here. If AAC announcement comes next week and is very positive then sentiment will switch to that and it will be positive.

bought another 1/4 of my trading position at 2.64. Day avg is 2.635. Keep 1/2 of my trading capital for 2.50s if it comes..

BWC my strategy was to trade and make money in AA before US Presidential elections up till yesterday and continuing today and thereafter. No time to sit on cash and watch a picture frame.

Haha very low volume until now. You would expect a bigger knee jerk reaction to the oil cut but AA holding strong. Sad that my volitility has come to an end. My holding period has started.

In my view PP settled means AAC is now front and center and the party can start anytime now. My trade positions were all matched at 2.76 on closing. More profit from trading and now waiting for my long term holdings to give me a bumper reward! Making money, no time to waste on big picture.

Yes, nothing to worry about in my view. I imagine AA in 10 years and I think it will be very big and probably I will be wishing I held more shares until then because the gains will probably be exponential.

haha sifu, small daily swings I only play small amount. Otherwise I feel bored just watching the stock movements doing nothing. My long term holdings are always there. Today bought in 2.66, if I can sell 2.70 and above I will just take it otherwise I will hold it and add more to long term holdings.

Not much selling pressure today, may have eased for incoming AAC announcement. Regret that I took 1/3 position off the table for contra gain today but I have done that plenty of times and the accumulated profits on the contra swings have been good...now will be more patient for the rest.

opec deals seems to be in limbo. Low oil price for 4th qtr may help AA results in 4th qtr a little bit more. I think 4th qtr results should be massive. Deferred tax to the rescue.

Another round of contra gain. Long term holdings still good profit. Will buy back lower to cover my contra sales later.

Its all about unlocking value for now and taking advantage of the timing.

feicsh- Again, i agree with that. I have never been too concerned with the AAC disposal. I think in time as plane deliveries start to increase post AAC disposal and if there is an excess capacity that to some degree, leasing income will start to increase again for AA. Eventually down the line i wont be surprised if they incorporate another company in AAC's place.

I would also think that to an extent they could still have some income from leasing by a minor leasing business of some planes if there is excess post AAC disposal and this might slowly grow in time as balance sheet becomes stronger and stronger and planes start to increase in number.

kungfee as per valuegrowth's formula- AAC can fetch USD1bil / RM4.46bil or even more depending on final bid and currency exchange. And you need to factor in the enlarged shares after PP.

feicsh- I completely agree with you. I think its better to be conservative in utilization of the proceeds and it will pay off in the long run to minimize risk of debts. 30% special divvy is more than enough to create feel good factor on stock price.

Icon sifu, apparently the 9 bids for AAC comprised of 8 bids for a 100% stake and 1 bid for 80% stake; just to add to your comment of the 9 bids..

This type of volatility is to be expected. The only surety to profit is the ability to hold and thats exactly what i can do. Hehehe
