Short term irrational

Long term very rational mah....!!

Posted by qqq33333333 > May 7, 2020 11:31 AM | Report Abuse

rational, irrational

make money is rational, lose money is irrational.

at least from my perspective.

stock market is gambling and gambling is emotion......

stock market is mostly propaganda ( in time periods of less than 1 year)..........

student of marketing / propaganda should understand stock market better than maths students.........

how often is stock market rational over a short period of a few months.? not very often.

for proper investments u can only judge it after 2-3 years. That is the time line for scib and Kpower to have good revenue and earnings.

Most of the time, I don't have that kind of patience. But having Supermax and Comfort over the last 1 month is very rational too.

what is rational/ irrational depends on what is put in the equation and what is taken out of the equation.........sometimes intentionally taken out.

leaving Wall Street...what has happened to Malaysian market........

First , there was a rebound in severely hit counters notably OG counters and Serba related ones......then when OG counters lost steam, Gloves became the only Game in town..........and roughly that is last 6 weeks of Bursa.........

my opinion...gloves still got legs.....and still the only game in town? What else if not gloves?

But he funny chap. He tells people bottom up approach don't work. That index funds better than bottom up approach for other people. funny or not?

Haha qqq3,
KPOWER: NOSH 84 million
Dato' Dr. Ir. Mohd. Abdul Karim Bin Abdullah: 29,055,078 units (34.69%)
Mustakim Bin Mat Nun: 11,803,200 units (14.09%)

SCIB: NOSH 86 million
Dato' Dr. Ir. Mohd. Abdul Karim Bin Abdullah; 40,820,055 units (47.53%)

So KPOWER and SCIB price movement due to fundamental or demand more than supply or the share price is cornered and manipulated?

Haha qqq3,

I just want to point out to you the Equity/Capital base of Kpower and SCIB are too small to get big bank loan to do big business. If Karim will to grow the company, it will need to enlarge the Equity/Capital base by RI. So are you prepared to put in more money to grow the company?

I doubt Jaks can even have enough cash to meet its commitments to the IPP for these 2 years.........

ALL downtrend, only TOPGLOV is uptrending.

OnG stocks r the worst, OIL just crashed few weeks ago. will be purebear for yrs.
All oil majors have BIG time financial problems.
On spike Up, take good action pls.

OIL wti peaked by g soros at usd 144 n crashed to 28 few yrs ago.
it then recovered to half price at 2nd peak usd72 months ago.

Days ago OIL crashed again to -ve, it could rebound to perhaps half way i.e. 72/2 max in yrs to come.

At those super LOW prices, for OnG plc u r good sons taking care of their future ...

Sorry I no longer invest based on downtrend and uptrend. I invest based on company prospects, it's financial viability and competitiveness over the longer period.

In fact, I no longer believe in concepts like trends in long term investing, or even short term investing.

If investing or trading based on trends are reliable indicators, the smart money would have sold during the onset of crisis, and bought when the market was at its lowest.

But the fact was: all I did was buy and hold topglove over a long period of time to enjoy great returns.

In fact, I can never understand the concept of trends in real life.

In real life, when you have a discount on burgers and birthday month coupons, you take advantage. And when scalpers are selling overpriced tickets to a Knicks game, why buy?

But in stock market, it is the total reverse. When prices go up you BUY? When prices crash you SELL?

I prefer to buy stocks when market has crashed and I can name my price.

Following the crowd to buy speculation? I much prefer to avoid that.

Hi purebull,

As you have posted this about yourself with 20+ years of stock investment and fund management. You seem to be very successful with your trading strategies. You state that you are a fund manager. I would be very interested in looking at your fund and seeing if we able to put some money for you to invest. May I know which fund you are currently advising and the audited returns? Are you based locally or overseas? So far are you managing a PE or mutual?

I would love to see your returns and discuss future proposals. Are you accredited?

philips......warren bufett/ Bershire are not fund managers......at least not in the traditional sense.

u see, Bershire is a holding company with some of the largest businesses in America as subsidiaries and associated companies.

warren bufett can hire and fire CEOs at will., he can set directions, he has ultimate control over his investees, he can consolidate their accounts into his.

The last point alone explains why Bershire shares are traded at premiums and not discounts like Icap, Insas and ETFs.

Like all the richest men in the world, WB is a business owner, not a fund manager.

But his dual role is a bit confusing and people wrongly put him in the category as fund manager ...a category WB himself encourages but is wrong.

I don't know about speculation, but the sudden rise of share price is not backed by the growth in earnings. I am still keeping a majority of my shares in topglove, however moving some out and reinvesting more in the heavily undervalued stocks that I currently hold which I believe are still very undervalued.

I really hate to sell stocks, but since I am already full on margin, sometimes you can't have it all.

For the short term, I have no idea what the markets will do or how stocks will perform. In fact, I managed to be the idiot who sells topglove at rm8 to buy stocks just when the share price jumped by 20% almost the next few days.

In the mid term, STONECO cash levels and business strategy will keep them afloat.

In the long term, I believe STONECO business model is a very very intrinsically strong model, which will be far more effective and customer centric than many of the incumbent Banks, which is a nightmare to navigate in Brazil.

Philip sifu, i am not interested with share price performance. Looking at StoneCo business, I do feel there's higher probability StoneCo might be able yank off brazil traditional bank. Even though until now I am not able to digest all the synergy between its acquisitions. Lately management do warn they are still growing but definitely not as fast as recent two years as their business is at mature stages. I do agree nevertheless StoneCo is still growing healthy without covid. Short term StoneCo is cutting off 20% workforce and trying to sell their loans to reduce cost. Mid term still depends on how the country economy can cooperate with covid. Long term its company core competence that matter. My previous question is actually on BRL side and brazil economy, both doesn't look good. Especially on currency itself it already depreciate roughly halve in a year. Zooming out 10 years, it is depreciating year by year at a fast pace. I know currency and macro are things that are beyond our control. But how's your view on this? Appreciate your insights.

Hi popo92, macro economics is way way out of my expertise or ability to forecast. Frankly, I have no idea how to country economy will do, as there are just too many variables. I could have one opinion, then one well placed riot and change of government will change everything. Not my cup of tea.

Posted by Philip ( buy what you understand) > 2020-05-15 15:51 | Report Abuse

Sold my last batch of topglove at 10.20 @ 523.8K shares. I must say, this covid has really got me spooked. I usually prefer to hold shares as long as possible, but with the super speculative demand for glove counters + the fact that almost everyone has sold all their O&G stocks to pile into gloves, means that rationally, I have to sell, especially when the speculation is so great. I have shifted fully into cratered O&G stocks, GKENT and QL over this period as the stocks with a huge growth potential but still selling at a reasonable price. It has been a great 10 year ride, but sometimes when you have to make choices on what stocks to buy and what to sell.

My O&G picks for the next 5-10 years are those that are unaffected by the price of oil, or will greatly benefit from a low price/ high supply low demand environment:

1. Serba Dinamik - O&M works supplier. A muslim company working in muslim nations where oil price is still profitable selling at low prices compared to the rest of the world. And they pay no tax over there, via labuan connection.
2. Yinson - Charter rates and day payment with firm long term contracts. As the awarded contracts have not been canceled yet, and they always need a place to store oil in the current environment, Yinson should be looking to profit greatly.
3. PCHEM - Low prices of raw materials equals higher margins in sales prices. With averaging down in prices to further lows, my average cost has dropped to RM6.3 per share. As the IPO price for pchem was RM5, and I have managed to buy a bulk of my shares below IPO prices, I think I am very confident of a good return in the future once PIC goes full production. YTD I have received 36 cents in dividend, bringing me almost 760K in dividends to date. I can afford to wait it out.

My estimates is for the market to recover within the next 2-3 years to normal level (oil prices at 47+), and for the share price confidence to return.

Who knows, with China figures coming up fast and relevant, this may be a really short sneeze instead.
