Because it is unlikely for us to have a 98 y.o PM in 2023, in case many people don't realize that.

Is nothing wrong to go for by-election. After all he just act accordingly to the PKR manisfesto whereby he will be PM after 2 years times. Don't you think there would not have any changes during this 2 years and the presence PM is already 93 years old. Can you become PM if you are not even a MP. As regards to the monies used in the by election, i opine it is just a tiny sand of the sea. Note: solely my own opinion only on without prejudice.
