To each child, education is a special privilege.......something for them to appreciate......Don't use force......or may stir up the feeling of disgust.

Decentralization is the key. Let the each school and learning institution to decide.......The appointment of creditable principals and leaders is crucial........Fire the incompetent and impotent ones.....those who fail the national agenda in terms of nationalism, pluralism and unity........End practice of tribalism, ethnocentrism and apartheism.

G25 noted that Jakim, on top of serving as the NCIA secretariat, had also been entrusted with such functions as the development of Islam and missionary activities.

“The substance of these functions, arguably, exceed the executive authority of the federation (exercisable by the Cabinet), given that the executive authority of the federation does not extend to the Muslim religion except for the Federal Territories only,

....To launch this campaign nationwide for 366 days from next year;

STOP RACISM

Take home mssage to schools (to bring home and educate their parents too):

Racism is a symptom of psychological ill-health. (HUMANISM)

It is a sign of a lack of psychological integration, a lack of self-esteem and inner security.

Psychologically healthy people with a stable sense of self and strong inner security are not racist, because they have no need to strengthen their sense of self through group identity.(PROGRESSIVE)

They have no need to define themselves in distinction to — and in conflict with — others.(REASON)

Scientifically there is no biological basis for dividing the human race into distinct "races." (SCIENTIFIC)

Bottomline:

Schoolers must not miss learning to understand.....

.....understanding the bad consequences from extreme racism:

PROGRSSION OF RACISM: ENMITY TOWARDS OTHER GROUPS

In order to further strengthen their sense of identity, members of a group may develop hostile feelings toward other groups. The group may become more defined and cohesive in its otherness to — and in its conflict with — other groups. Act benevolently towards members of their own group, but be cruel and heartless to anyone outside it. When members of a group take the step of withdrawing empathy from members of other groups, limiting their concern and compassion to their fellows. They may act benevolently towards members of their own group, but be cruel and heartless to anyone outside it. Members project their own psychological flaws and their own personal failings onto another group.

I agree with calvintaneng, but with a small qualifier. Maths and Science must be taught in English in secondary schools onwards. For primary schools, the basic concepts can be taught in BM in SKs or vernacular in vernacular schools for students to understand better.

No one size fits all.....let the schools decide.....based of concensus with parent-teacher associations, their teachers' strength, etc

Let the stakeholders choose......let there by a good variety of options, and freedom.......

Give time for 'natural selection' and let it runs its course......and 'eliminates' the 'weak', 'unpopular' and 'useless' ones

Debate of 21st Century.......let kids learn from home, why torturing school hours and ridiculoisly forced lessons of unnecessary writing or language

School is prison? A prison—according to the common, general definition—is any place of involuntary confinement and restriction of liberty.

Sometimes people use the word prison in a metaphorical sense to refer to any situation in which they must follow rules or do things that are unpleasant.

It is against the law in this and other democratic countries to force someone to work at a job where the person doesn't want to work, or to marry someone that he or she doesn't want to marry. It is not against the law, however, to force a child to go to school.

it is wrong to deny anyone liberty i.e. choosing to learn or not to learn, without just cause. It is not easy to force people to do what they do not want to do.

By confining children to school and to other adult-directed settings, and by filling their time with assignments, we deprive them of the opportunities and time they need to assume the responsibility to think about their own future and take steps to prepare themselves for it.

In a rigid system in which teachers do the assessment, few students are going to criticize or even question the ideas shove down their throat.

Finally, by forcing all schoolchildren through the same standard curriculum, we reduce their opportunities to follow alternative pathways. When children are free? they take new, diverse, and unpredicted paths. They develop passionate interests, work diligently to become experts in the realms that fascinate them, and then find ways of making a living by pursuing their interests. Students forced through the standard curriculum have much less time to pursue their own interests, and many learn well the lesson that their own interests don't really count; what counts is what's seen by their narrow-minded teachers-cum-assessors.

The End Justifies The Means

Teaching will be favoured by selection only where the costs to teachers of facilitating learning are outweighed by the long-term fitness benefits they accrue once pupils have learned, and these benefits will be scaled by the ease with which pupils could learn without teaching.

Evolutionary science holds for improving educational research, practice, and policy. However, it is equally obvious that it will take a concerted effort on the part of not only researchers, practitioners and school administrators, but also parents and other education stakeholders before the full potential of adopting an evolutionary perspective on schooling can be realized.

An ideal educational environment would, among other things, permit age-mixed interactions, and allow freedom of expression
and debate, while maximizing the children’s abilities to educate themselves.......

......and has a deep consideration on Geary's concept on biologically primary and secondary knowledge, when deciding on using public funding or let individual to self-sponsor (pay for the lessons)

The thinking using the evolved modules as biologically primary, and that involving the plastic frontal areas as biologically secondary.

Environmental pressures have resulted in the evolution of brain ‘modules’ specialising in processing certain types of information, such as language or facial features. Information is processed by the modules rapidly, automatically and implicitly, resulting in heuristics (rules of thumb) characteristic of the ‘folk’ psychology, biology and physics that form the default patterns for the way we think. (biologically primary)

Sapiens are also capable of flexible thought that overrides those default patterns. The flexibility is due to the highly plastic frontal areas of the brain responsible for intelligence. (biologically secondary)

4. Curiousity for the whole of world to wonder and question the writer, his credentials, and that of his learning institution

When the blind leads the blind, they will not get out of Plato's Cave

Plato’s Allegory of the Cave: Life Lessons on How to Think for Yourself.

(Inferior educators dictate what and how his students should think. Mediocre educators dictate what his students should know. Superior educators cultivate the habits of thinking in his students.)

See human beings as though they were in an underground cave-like dwelling with its entrance, a long one, open to the light across the whole width of the cave. They are in it from childhood with their legs and necks in bonds so that they are fixed, seeing only in front of them, unable because of the bond to turn their head all the way around.”

Every day, these people in the caves watched shadows projected on a blank wall. For them, these shadows are real and they shape their entire reality.

As an overview, Mitra implemented “the school in the cloud” or self-organised-learning-eavironment. In the tech. term, “cloud” means “the internet servers”.

Dear all,

The problem with people in this country is that they are too fanatical about their religions. Well, this is a big problem, because it does affect their thinking. They became irrational. I celebrate all the religions because they are harmless. I enter all the places of worship, even just to look.

So for once I want religion study to be taken out of school. You can just teach general knowledge about all the religions in this world. After-all religion is between you and your god. It is not be boasted about in public.

Like sex it is between you and your wife and no need to teach how to start, when to end and how many times per-day/month/year or boasted about in public. I pray daily.

Thank you

What kids should learn from recent relevant history....

In the 1980s, when people from around the world (students, youth and grown ups) look up to Malaysia as an excellent model to follow. The reason is because in those days, Malaysia was able to combine religiosity with modernisation. Over the last couple of decades, the opposite reaction is what msia gets. People are saying, ‘Look at Malaysia; this is what happens when you mix religion with politics. You’re going to be extremists, rampant corruption, near bankruptcy and kleptocracy. Msia is now the model to be avoided

Meritocracy starts young - from school days

The educational quality of our national schools has greatly declined over the last three decades primarily due to the lack of competent teachers and effective school leaders. We are all paying the price for sacrificing quality for a narrow racist agenda and mediocrity. In the words of a close Malay friend of mine, "Singh, tak ada kualiti, tak apa. Janji orang kita yang jadi cikgu dan pengetua."

Words of Wisdom

Parents and schools should place great emphasis on the idea that it is all right to be different. Racism and all the other ‘isms’ grow from primitive tribalism, the instinctive hostility against those of another tribe, race, religion, nationality, class or whatever. You are a lucky child if your parents taught you to accept diversity.
