Publish date: Thu, 17 Apr 20:42 KUALA LUMPUR: AmCorp Properties Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, AmCorp Far East Ltd, has signed a co-investment agreement with Grosvenor Asia Pacific Ltd, NRJ Investment Ltd and True Lead Investment Ltd, to form a joint-venture (JV) in Japan. AmCorp Properties in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today said the JV is aimed at investing in a portfolio of high-end residential real estate development projects and commercial value-add projects in Tokyo. The company will have 38.5 per cent interest in the JV and under the terms of the agreement, it will place about RM162 million as commitment to the capital contribution. The capital commitment will be funded through a combination of internally generated funds and existing bank borrowings, of which the actual mix can only be determined later. Grosvenor Asia will also be committing about RM162 million to the JV's capital contribution, and NRJ Investment and True Lead Investment will place a combined contribution of about RM97.2 million. AmCorp Properties through the co-investment, will be able to leverage on the experience and branding of Grosvenor Asia in Tokyo, to ride on the recovery of the city's real estate market. It said Grosvenor Asia has been operating in the Asia Pacific for about two decades, establishing its first office in Hong Kong in 1994 and has been operating in Tokyo since 2001. The co-investment is expected to contribute positively to the future earnings and growth of AmCorp Properties. -- Bernama
