KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 13): Banking and financial services stocks were among the top gainers in early morning trade on Tuesday, with several stocks climbing to a new record high, marking a bullish start to the Lunar New Year of the Dragon.

The Bursa Malaysia Financial Services Index was up 175.65 points or 1.04%, reaching its nearly five-year high of 17,056 points — the last time it breached the 17,000 mark was in March 2019.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 16): The Malaysia banking sector is expected to remain positive as the price-to-earnings ratios (PER) are near pandemic lows, according to Maybank Investment Bank (Maybank IB)

In a note on Friday, the research house explained that banking stocks are currently valued at an average PER of 9.3x, close to the low levels of 8.3x seen during the pandemic in October 2020, which it believes is unjustified.

印尼联昌全年盈利26亿 写新高

（吉隆坡22日讯）联昌集团（CIMB,1023,主板金融服务组）旗下的印尼联昌商业银行（CIMB Niaga）宣布，其2023年税前利润为8.4兆印尼盾（约26亿令吉），是迄今最高记录，按年增长27.0%。

该银行在文告里指出，不良贷款（NPL）从2022年12月的2.8%大幅下降至2023年12月的2.0%。此外，其资本充足率（CAR）和贷存比（LDR）分别为24.0%和89.3%。

印尼联昌商业银行是当地第二大私营银行，截至12月31日，合并资产总额为334.4兆印尼盾，按年增长9.0%。

在存款方面，其总存款增至235.9兆，按年增3.8%，来往和储蓄户口(CASA)比率达63.9%，其中86%的定期存款来自数字渠道。

至于贷款，该银行指出，贷款或融资总额按年增长了8.5%，达到213.4兆印尼盾。其企业银行的业务按年增长11.7%，其次是中小企业的业务，按年增长9.5%，而消费者银行业务按年增长6.9%。零售贷款的增长主要来自汽车贷款，按年增长15.7%。

其伊斯兰业务仍是印尼最大的伊斯兰业务单位，融资总额达55.2兆印尼盾，按年增长 17.0%，存款达44.9兆印尼盾，按年增长13.7%。

联昌商业银行表示将继续开发数字产品。2023年，其96%客户的金融交易额，是通过无网点银行渠道进行，例如OCTO Mobile、OCTO Clicks、Bizchannel@CIMB、提款机和OCTO Pay电子货币

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is in a sweet spot to enter a prolonged bull market, says prominent fund manager Tan Teng Boo.

According to the founder and owner of icapital.biz Bhd, the benchmark FBM KLCI could potentially rise to 2,500 – 3,000 points in the next three to five years, citing it is a “realistic target”.

Speaking at a media briefing on the market outlook yesterday, Tan said his optimism over Malaysian equities was premised on the country’s strengthening economic fundamentals and political stability.

“Now is the time to buy Malaysian stocks. We are looking at the beginning of a major bull market,” Tan said.

“Our market is cheap and our currency is cheap,” he added, noting that he expects a greater inflow of foreign funds to the Malaysian equity market in the coming days to further lift the FBM KLCI.

speakup sold at 6.24 after recovering from a wash down to 6.02 one morning...
....now, another wash down, midday 6.35 is still higher than 6.24 haha...
....even with occasional wash down it still is getting higher :)

....the wash down is the play play by BIG funds :p
