High dividend can be seen as a sweetener against any downside so the conclusion is it is worth holding when the market sentiment is bad.

Another good reason for holding Maybank is because it has less exposure to foreign ownership holding than its peers and in general Malaysia market seems more immune to global market turmoil. It is always worth considering to add some Malaysia exposure with a few good quality names to your portfolio to hedge against overall market risk of your portfolio.

the problem now is the scrip dividend scheme that dilute the shares by 6% per year. It forces everyone to take stock, instead of cash to prevent dilution. What do you think about this?

i think its better to subscribe to the scrip dividend. then, sell it in open market
can earn another 9% extra. Because shareholder can buy Maybank shares at $8
