Will be flattish and worse than Q2. Q4 appears to be better.

Brutus and lionel messi, we seem to be thinking along similar lines.
My guesstimate would possibly see an EPS drop of around 5%, so perhaps 10.5 cents. Pure guesswork though.

That 7.80 close on October 15 appears to have halted any further upside for a while, IMO. I'd say 7.55 is a fairly important level and if broken then it might revisit and test the 7.30/7.35 area.

I've noticed fairly regular shorting of the stock over the past few weeks so perhaps the fund managers are thinking the same way as us.

Bursa is a stock that I'm keen to hold as a long termer but I just can't pull the trigger at Rm7+ prices......with that in mind, I'll probably never be lucky enough to get in...lol.

Patience is a virtue, so I'm told :)

Hope you and Bursa are destined and fated to be together. Wonderful soul mate and life partner :)

lol lionel messi, we have differing opinions of a "soul mate". I have a bit more exotic taste than Bursa could ever offer :)

Quarter EPS of 9.90 cents, a little bit below my guestimate of around 10.5 cents.
We might see a retest of the 7.35 area in upcoming days, imo.

vcpmaster123, I didn't say the result was bad. Personally, I think it is in line with expectations. The quarters with 15 cents EPS are going to be a distant memory for a while and these kind of results will be the new normal for a period of time.

Investors should probably be looking for an annualised EPS around 40 cents, imo.

Results or lower revenue/profit for the latest quarter not unexpected given the recent lower volume of trades in Bursa and the generally weak sentiment in Bursa. Will pick up when market turns bullish again.

As expected the QR will not be fantastic. Hopefully there will be a few more bigger IPO to pull more traders/investors to BURSA. Let's see what happens in Q4 after the recent budget announcement. Expect more volume in the next few weeks.

Stamp duty for shares transactions increased from 0.10% to 0.15% in budget 2022. That is a whooping 50% increase. Is that a significant increase?

Cukai makmur sort of incentivizing highly profitable companies to not keep too much inside. Better spend it on capital assets, or increase pay/bonus for employee. In return, employee spend n economy expands.

don't get confused of brokerage rate with stamp duty. Stamp duty are for contracts. It has minimal effect on share trading.

Share transactions also incur stamp duty on top of brokerage fee, I think.

In that case, expect lower trading activities,which will translate to lower bottom line for Bursa. SELL then!

Message loud and clear. Government asks you to trade less, more long term holdings. Bursa sure less activities. Lastly Government also collect less stamps duties. Government thinking hat got viruses problems, shooting fat goose from producing golden eggs.

This is worse than Najib, Najib proposed,

Stamp duty on shares of mid and small cap companies is waived for three (3) years from 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2022. For stamp duty exemption in 2019, eligible mid and small cap companies are those with market capitalisation between RM200 million and RM2 billion as at 31 December 2018.

emmm !!!!

Look like HLIB TP RM8.93 difficult to achieve...)

Forecast. Unchanged – our existing forecast already pencils a weaker 2H21.

Maintain BUY but lower TP to RM8.93. Despite unchanged earnings forecast, we moderate down our TP from RM9.91 to RM8.93 as we (i) roll forward EPS from FY21 to mid-FY22 (lower earnings base) and (ii) lower PE multiple of 24x (from 25x) still based on +1SD above 5Y mean. While the upcoming results present another sequential earnings decline, this has already been baked into our forecast. We continue to like Bursa’s outlook, backed by (i) ADV recovery prospects in 4Q21, (ii) potential for another round of special-D (to recap, the previous earnings upcycle in FY17-18 saw 2 consecutive years of special dividend), on top of a decent normal yield of >4% and (iii) still the cheapest exchange – PE is at a 21% discount to regional peers (SGX, HKX, ASX and NZX). For a sanity check using an alternative valuation yardstick, Bursa’s MC/ADV of 2.0x isn’t excessive at -0.5SD below 10Y mean.

Results of Bursa from 1.1.2022 onwards will drop materially because of the 0.15% stamp duty without cap. Next year Institutional, foreign and big players will trade much less on Bursa due to this more than doubling of transaction cost for big transactions on Bursa.

Bad QR, increase in stamp duty, tax makmur - triple whammy for Bursa. I don't know if I still want to accumulate this stock at this price.

Australia = 30%

Philipines = 30%

Japan = 29.74%

South Korea = 27.50%

China = 25%

Indonesia = 25%

Myanmar = 25%

Taiwan = 20%

Thailand = 20%

Vietnam = 20%

Brunei = 18.50%

Singapore = 17%

Hong Kong =16.50%

Macau = 12%

^^Don't forget...RM 100 mil profit PLC considered very minimal & acceptable for investment targeting...

7.30 tomorrow?

Posted by sense maker > 2021-10-31 16:50 | Report Abuse

From 2022 onwards, bursa will only see mostly retail players trading. Funds and big players will basically not trade much. Bursa’s total market volume will come down by half. Bursa should limit down tomorrow unless a U turn on stamp duty is expected by the market.

BURSA will be seriously impacted. 50% increased in Stamp Duty and RM200 cap removed will affect big traders dramatically. The good thing is , there will be less manipulations by day traders.

Some foreign funds will SLOWLY start pulling out their funds to 50% to avoid sudden change of policy. More cost effectivity and opportunity elsewhere. While local funds managers shaking their head and wait and see. Bursa will be doomed in coming years but still offer some pockets of opportunity although limited.
