Second petition filed in US court against Boeing, MAS
The spouse of a crew member aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH370 jet has asked a court in Illinois, United States to order Boeing Co and the airline to turn over data and documents to assist in preparation for a possible lawsuit, Bloomberg reported today.
The petition was filed yesterday in Chicago on behalf of Lee Khim Fatt, whose wife, Foong Wai Yueng, was a member of the cabin crew on the plane that vanished on March 8 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
This is the second such petition filed this week by Chicago law firm Ribbeck Law Chartered.
It is the second request to an American court to order Chicago-based Boeing, which built the lost 777-200ER jet, and Malaysian Airline Systems Bhd to produce information about the plane’s ownership, maintenance history, flight crew training and 23 other categories of data.
According to the Bloomberg report, Ribbeck Law Chartered lawyer Monica R. Kelly in a press statement said: “Through the initial discovery process in the courts, we will obtain for the families of the victims all the facts and information necessary to prove fault.”
The law firm filed an almost identical petition on Tuesday for a man it initially identified as the father of one of MH370’s passengers, Firman Chandra Siregar.
Petitioner Januari Siregar later said he was the missing youth’s uncle.
Boeing spokesman Chaz Bickers declined to comment on the data and document request, reported Bloomberg.
An email to the press office of MAS seeking comment on the court filings yesterday went unanswered.
The search for the missing plane with 239 people onboard is a multinational operation involving over two dozen countries.
The Malaysian government said it believed the aircraft crashed into the Indian Ocean, west of Australia, killing all aboard.
The hunt yesterday shifted for the third time to focus on an area hundreds of miles from the previous zone and continued today, Bloomberg reported. – March 29, 2014.
**** The claims keeps coming in the US, now the 2nd one, more to come?? time to chabut cepat cepat before you kena kuat kuat too.
Malaysia is facing a potential loss of up to RM4.2 billion in tourism revenue, as tourists from China look to travel elsewhere following the MH370 saga, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported today.
Malaysia has targeted 28 million tourists this year and RM76 billion in receipts. According to Tourism Malaysia, 1.79 million Chinese visited the country last year, a nearly 15% annual increase. China is the third largest source of visitors to Malaysia, in which tourism is the sixth contributor of its GDP.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz on Monday said Malaysia had suspended its Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign. "The ministry has stopped its promotion tours, especially in China, until MH370 has been found," Nazri had said in parliament on Monday
The tragedy of MH370 just reflected that government has no place to meddle in business. With the lawsuits coming from American lawyers, where even local victims are hiring international lawyers, taxpayers monies are going to be used to rescue MAS in billions. A better way is to go bankrupt if not more money will have to be collected from GST to pay the victims.
MH370 Chinese families to hold own press conferences from now on
SUBANG JAYA, March 30:
Chinese families of those on board missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) passenger aircraft MH370 today demanded that the Malaysian government and the airline provide them with timely and accurate information.
A spokesman for the families, Jiang Hui, said they wanted the authorities and the aircraft’s manufacturer, Boeing Co, to hold a daily briefing and also provide them with the latest information.
He said they were unhappy with MAS and the government because they had been given contradictory information over the last 3 weeks.
“Please stop providing us with unclear and inaccurate information,” Jiang Hui said, adding that the families had also demanded an apology from the government and MAS.
This was said at a press conference at the Holiday Villa in Subang Jaya this afternoon, where an estimated 50 family members started shouting slogans as well.
Some of the slogans they shouted were: “We want of our family members back”, “We want evidence” and “We want facts”.
The families were also wearing T-shirts with the words: “We want truth, we want evidence” printed in Mandarin.
Jiang Hui also expressed the unhappiness of the families over the delay in disclosing information related to the search and rescue operation.
He pointed out that many of the family members were also unhappy with the “meaningless” briefings held in Beijing.
The MAS B777-200ER aircraft disappeared with 239 people on board less than an hour after it departed from the KL International Airport (KLIA) on March 8.
There were 153 Chinese nationals on the flight.
Jiang Hui said the family members wanted to know how the Malaysian government came to the conclusion that the flight ended in the middle of the southern Indian Ocean.
He said the families were still hoping that their relatives would return home safely and would keep their hopes high until there was evidence to prove otherwise.
Jiang added that more family members would be flying to Kuala Lumpur over the next 2 to 3 days.
He ended the press conference by saying that the families would continue to have unscheduled press conferences to express their views.

THEY HAVE ARRIVED AND THEY MAKE THEIR VOICE HEARD!
Relatives of the Chinese passengers aboard MH370 have demanded that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak apologise for ‘prematurely’ announcing that the missing flight had ‘ended’ in the Indian Ocean.

Looks like China going to do own coordination and Australia is bringing in ex-defense boss to coordinate ........what does that tell Malaysia......Bravo I think....lol Just as Hishamuddin was doing well and good....for nothing, they are decentralizing the SAR.......alamak
Its a complex operation. Australia bringing experience dude to supervise military forces from several countries. Remember, the equipment they are using still very secret. China not only involve in SAR but spying US gears. Foes join forces to find MH370 but risk opening their secrets as well.
Relatives of the Chinese passengers aboard MH370 have demanded that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak apologise for 'prematurely' announcing that the missing flight had 'ended' in the Indian Ocean.
They want MAS to apologise as well for saying that there were no survivors, claiming that both announcements are without sufficient evidence.
"Secondly, we demand that the Malaysian government apologise for last week’s confused communications and for holding up the search and rescue effort.
"Thirdly, we demand that the Malaysian government and MAS apologise for irresponsibly saying that the aircraft is destroyed without survivors without a shred of evidence," Jiang Hui told reporters.
His red-eyed son then shouted "We want evidence, truth, and our loved ones!" while others wiped their tears.
On March 24, Najib had announced that MH370 had "ended" in the Indian Ocean based on analysis of satellite data. He stopped short of saying that it crashed.
Meanwhile in China, about 30 minutes before Najib’s announcement, MAS began informing relatives of this and that there were no survivors.
MAS group CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yayha later defended this, saying that the aircraft is running low on fuel at its last known location in a remote part of the Indian Ocean, therefore the prospect of survival for an extended period of time is "extremely, extremely remote".
Earlier today, the group of 35 landed at KL International Airport (KLIA) this morning, but were quietly whisked to a hotel in Subang Jaya through another exit, as reporters waited at the arrival hall.
Upon realising this, reporters rushed to the hotel to interview the relatives, only to find that they were holding a meeting with government and MAS representatives.
Jiang said that more relatives are expected to arrive from Beijing in the coming days but is unable to confirm the exact number. The logistics are being handled by MAS.
He also indicated that family members are unlikely to be heading to Australia, which is heading the search in the suspected crash site, unless there the evidence of the plane's whereabouts is uncovered there
The group hoped to top Malaysian government officials will meet them and answer their many queries, promising that they will act in a "reasonable and legal way" throughout their stay.
"We hope Malaysia will show sincerity by arranging for someone someone of authority to speak to us with the relevant data at hand and will be able to communicate the truth," said Jiang.
It will be a shock if no action is taken against every one of them who have contributed to the debacle in MH370, nothing less of a sack is acceptable. Can the BN do that, or will they get promotions instead?
What really is beyond belief is why the BN, particularly Umno, is not able to see what is happening in the Malaysia political landscape. After this MAS incident, we have proven to the world how incompetent we are, and dare I say how stupid we can be.
A country with a so-called best education system in the world has produced countless jokers and sadly, they are concentrated in BN. Nothing very intelligent is ever spoken by almost all of the BN leaders.
Why can't they see all this? Do we all have to suffer for generations to come?
