Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the government is not keen to implement the MCO for a long period due to the livelihoods it could affect.

“We do not want to prolong the MCO.

“If we implement the MCO for four weeks until early February, and then followed by a conditional MCO for three months, we hope we can reduce the number of Covid-19 cases to double figures, ” said Dr Noor Hisham, at a virtual press conference on Monday (Jan 25).

Currently, the MCO is being imposed in all states except Sarawak and will last until Feb 4.

Even change to CMCO red zone states would not be allowed to cross travel, given the four digit case numbers. 3 months of travel restrictions and no international travellers, no difference to the problem. No visitors no income.

Difficult to say.Depending on Malaysia number of infection. GENM will plunge if we have 0.5 million ppl get infected by march 2021.

In terms of possibility whether Genting is allowed to operate during CMCO, just my opinion, I feel it's not allowed.

Because Govt is going to put stricter SOPs and thighten the rules. Otherwise it's pointless to have it prolong for 3months.

This round, Gov's perspective is that whether it's gonna end covid fight with strict rules, or else Covid cases keep increasing and citizens are complaining over the sufferings from both economically, financially and healthily.

In my opinion, there is possibility the number here may drop in upcoming days due to true impact of MCO 2.0 (which is still more stringent than CMCO before as state border cross is not permmited during MCO 2.0).

if cases drop in upcoming days, based on remark by Ministry of Health/government, I think the economy may be allowed with stricter SOPs.

And if the situation improves, we have more time for economy recovery with more vaccines development/roll out, as well as new medications being developed to deal with COVID worldwide.

GENTING and GENM are still hopeful in upcoming weeks/months with more and more news updates in vaccine roll out.

Just my two cents. NOt a buy call or sell call.

My feeling and thoughts:

Warren Buffets famous quote always right:

"We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful"

I remind myself not to get trapped by sell call, whom want to buy cheap by calling market fear and panic during bad sentiment.

Always do own study and make own decisions

Lets hope the mankind is gonna SCIENCE this XXX out and economoy recovery is on track, so that life can resume normal and many of us keep our rice bowl...

Instead of being negative, lets keep positivity in the battle against the COVID and believe in economy recovery is inevitable.

<drkelvin20> I agree with you. GenM is for long term. Don't expect to earn money this year with CMCO following MCO till May (at least). Probably 2022 onwards. Interstate travel restriction will be in place despite CMCO and we were wondering if GenM will open its door or decided to stay closed in anticipation of very low visitor.

Frankly, I went up to Genting early this year (or first week of Jan) and was expecting a crowd since December was pretty hot, reportedly; But to my surprise, it was dead quiet, theme-park/arcade/bowling/snow-world/etc were closed, most restaurants were closed, probably only 10% are in operational. Without foreigners and if our border remained closed, it is going to be difficult for GenM.

The vaccine roll-out schedule is as follows :-

Phase 1 vaccination : Mar - Mid to May >>> Front liners only
Phase 2 vaccination : Mid of May to July >>> High risk group or senior citizen
Phase 3 vaccination : Aug/Sep onwards for general public age 18 years old and above

Target full inoculation by early 2022. Do expect some delay, hiccup here and there, as well as learning curve, while discounting virus mutation or super-strain while take-up rate may not be that rosy.

With the right mindset and anticipation, we would not be so stress-out when things do not fall in place, and again, this is for long-term investment.
