Hoi App. You know what? If TM is no longer a GLC then it will be better for them. No other telcos can use TM fiber infra anymore. Nowadays gov forces TM to give access of their fiber infra to other telcos at very low price. Once TM is no longer a GLC then TM can make it exclusive for TM customers only. Other telcos who are currently renting TM's infra can die with you.

I think that's why they open up Tenaga fibre to make sure TM can't monopoly in the long run.

With a competitive package, we as customer will enjoy the discount - not a bad thing afterall. For the first time enjoy discounted package - I think Gobind doing a good job so far.

"Meanwhile, those on TIME’s current highest 500Mbps plan are apparently getting double the speed at 1Gbps.

100Mbps TIME (RM149/month) -> 500Mbps

At the time of posting, TIME have yet to make any announcement on the upgrade and their website is still showing their current plans without the speed upgrade. Perhaps TIME’s approach is to upgrade all of its existing customers first before making the new faster plans available for new subscribers.

The upgrade exercise should be seamless as TIME runs on a 100% fibre optic network. Meanwhile, some TM Unifi customers are capped at 30Mbps as it uses copper-based VDSL instead of fibre for certain high-rise buildings.

With this new speed upgrade, TIME will have the most affordable 500Mbps broadband plan in the country at only RM149/month. That’s 5X faster than the the 100Mbps plans that are currently offered by Maxis and Unifi at RM129/month."




TM is pronounced dead....

1. RM 149 vs 249 for 500mbps
2. hyppTV unbundled, those paying rm 199 will be paying 129 without hyppTV
3. No unifi for highrise, all captured by Time.com
4. Unifi not willing to provide broadband service if less than 50% units requested
5. Newly completed condo where can they sell 50% upon VP? surely unifi committing suicide with that policy

TM's revenue is most likely going to be hurt by the mandatory price reduction imposed by the government. The price reduction is also going to introduce competition, while good for the consumers like you and I, aren't good for this company if the management is unable to overcome this hurdle. The challenge? They have been a comfortable monopoly for far too long.

TIme, maxis and celcom all will overtake TM eventually. all broadband players can reduce monthly price yet increase mbps, TM waiting to be squeezed left and right.
